From the loss of wildlife to rising sea levels, we're all well aware of the problems that climate
change could cause.
But while it may seem like such issues won't affect most of us directly,it looks like future
generations could grow up without something that many of us now take for granted: chocolate.
According to an essay published by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,
changes to the climate in the regions that produce cacao - the plant from which chocolate is
produced - may mean that it will soon become extinct.
Most of the world's cacao grows in countries close to the equator, with over half of it growing
in the African nations of Ghana and Ivory Coast.
It's predicted that by 2050, climate change will have accelerated the rate at which temperatures

Sometimes, you just can't help it. Maybe you're watching a sad movie, or thinking about the
friend who moved away. Next thing you know, you feel pressure in your throat, your eyes are
watering, and you have tears running down your cheeks.
According to Ad Vingerhoets, a professor of psychology at Tilburg University, in the
Netherlands, who is one of the few scientists in the world who have studied crying, there are
three types of tears. Basal tears are the first type. They act as a protective barrier between the
eye and the rest of the World. Next are reflex tears. They wash your eyes clean when something
gets in them. Finally, there are emotional tears. "These are released in response to emotional
states," explains Vingerhoets.
Scientists believe crying has something to do with how humans developed and learned to

When I was five years old, my parents would have to pull me home from yet another
painful English vacation. I still didn't want to leave. I want to be away from home. I
wanted to go somewhere new and exciting. This became the theme of the next twenty
years. I'd spend the whole year counting down to my next holiday, and then as soon as I left
I'd begin to dread having to return home. Year after year.
Ten years ago, I decided to build a life that I didn't want to escape from. I knew I
wanted to travel in the long term, but I didn't have a lot of money or savings, and there is
no one paying for my adventures. For five years, I did three jobs while studying full-time at
university. I didn't eat out and I didn't buy anything I didn't need. I even moved in with my
parents. I was able to save ﹩16,000 over those five years, which was enough to keep me

I work as the reception manager at my hotel.
A booking came in a few weeks ago with a note attached that a guest would be travelling with
her deaf father. This note helped us in preparing for their arrival. As they would be here for a
number of days, his daughter wanted to make his trip to Ireland as smooth as possible.
Upon seeing this note and knowing I would be the one to check them in, I decided to learn
some very basic sign language. I greeted the guest in my usual fashion, asking for the surname on
the booking. Once I heard the name,I immediately realized who was standing in front of me.
I had been learning for two weeks how to say: "Welcome to Ireland. My sign language is
terrible, but please, if you need anything during your stay, just let me know and we will help you."

You may not know a lot of people when you start high school. Even if you know some freshmen
(新生) , you still feel nervous that you don't know any upperclassmen or teachers. How are you
going to make friends among this sea of unknown faces?
Most high schools hold a freshman orientation before school actually starts, which is helpful not
only because you can know your way around the building and get to meet some of your teachers,
but also because you get to meet fellow freshmen. That way, when you show up on your first day
of school, you may already recognise a few familiar faces. When you talk to your new classmates,
you'll probably find that a lot of them are feeling just like you are. They're all new to the school
and don't know what to expect. Talking about a common concern with them can help you

Brothers Shawn and Caid Sellers and cousin Michael Mahalitc found the prehistoric bone in a

pick it up and it was really heavy and I saw teeth on it." The bone weighed about 50 pounds. They
eventually got the bone to their home and fitted it in their tub (浴盆), but it took their collective
strength, might and a golf cart, to carry the large Mastodon bone.
"They didn't expect to find that," Michael's mom said. "Now that they have, I believe that they
will be more aware of their surroundings and what they're digging up when they are digging and
