My Wonderful Hometown - Yancheng
I am so lucky to have been born and raised in the beautiful
city of Yancheng in Jiangsu Province, China. My hometown has
so many amazing things that make me proud to call it home!
First off, Yancheng is located right on the coast of the Yellow
Sea. We have incredible beaches with soft golden sand and
rolling waves. When the weather is warm, my friends and I love
going to the beach to swim, build sandcastles, fly kites, and just
soak up the sunshine. The sunsets over the sea are breathtaking,
with vibrant pinks, oranges, and purples painting the sky.
Yancheng is well known for its delicious seafood since we're
a coastal city. My favorite is the fresh shrimp that my dad buys
straight off the fishing boats. The shrimp are so plump and juicy,
especially when my mom fries them up with garlic and chili
peppers. Yum! We also have great fish, crabs, clams, and other
seafood delicacies here. Our city has over 2,500 years of fascinating history and
culture going back to ancient times. There are many cool historic
sites to explore like the Han Dynasty Tombs, the Zhang Zhidong
Former Residence, and the incredible Dafosi Buddhist Temple
built over 1,700 years ago! Walking through places with such rich
history makes me feel connected to the past.
Something unique about Yancheng is that it used to be
entirely surrounded by ancient city walls with guard towers. Parts
of the old city walls and towers still remain standing today as
amazing historical monuments. I love learning about how they
protected our city long ago.
We have tons of fun, modern attractions in Yancheng too!
My favorite is the huge Yancheng Wildlife Nature Reserve park
where you can see over 300 species of birds. It's incredible
walking on the trails and watching flocks of beautiful, vibrant
birds flying overheard. The park even has spots where you can
go boating on the lakes and rivers.
The summers in Yancheng are so lively with outdoor night
markets and exciting festivals like the Dragon Boat Festival. The
night markets have the most delicious street foods like
barbecued squid, candied strawberries, and yummy dumplings. There are also tons of games and performances to watch and
enjoy with your family.
I have the sweetest childhood memories of the fall harvest
time here. Our city is famous for its juicy pears! Every fall, my
grandparents take me to the pear orchards to pick ripe, fragrant
pears straight from the trees. The pears from Yancheng really are
the most delicious I've ever tasted. The harvest festivals are filled
with fun activities like pear eating contests and farmers selling
fresh honey, jams, and ciders.
Even though Yancheng is a modern city now, it still has
beautiful, quiet nature spots within it. My brother and I love
riding our bikes along the tree-lined riverbanks and through the
serene parks around town. We have even spotted deer casually
strolling through some parks before!
Overall, I feel so blessed to live in such an amazing place like
Yancheng. We have a fascinating history, rich culture, incredible
seafood, fun attractions and festivals, and gorgeous natural
scenery. Yancheng really does have everything! I hope everyone
gets the chance to visit my wonderful hometown someday and
experience its beauty for themselves. This place will forever hold

My Wonderful Hometown - Yancheng
Hi there! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a middle school
student in Yancheng, a city in Jiangsu province in eastern China.
Today, I want to tell you all about my amazing hometown!
Yancheng is a pretty big city with around 7 million people
living here. It's located right near the Yellow Sea coast, so we
have beautiful beaches and scenery. The city is divided into a few
different districts and counties.
I live in the main Yancheng City district right in the heart of
everything. Our neighborhood is lively with lots of shops,
restaurants, parks and activity going on. I love walking around
and exploring all the different areas.
Some of my favorite places are Yuquan Park and Yancheng
Wetland Park. Yuquan Park has gorgeous gardens, ponds with
koi fish, and even a small amusement park area. The Wetland
Park is this huge nature reserve filled with birds, plants and trails
to hike. I've spotted cranes, egrets and other cool wildlife there.
When it comes to food, Yancheng has some unique and
delicious local dishes that I'm obsessed with. We're famous for

My Hometown: So Many Changes!
Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm going to tell you all about
how my hometown has changed a bunch over the last 10 years.
It's been really cool to see, but also kind of sad in some ways. Let
me start from the beginning!
10 years ago, my hometown was a pretty small place. There
was just a few streets with houses, a couple parks, some schools,
and not much else. The biggest building was the grocery store in
the center of town. My friends and I would ride our bikes all
around the neighborhoods and spend hours playing at the parks.
It was a very quiet, peaceful little town.
Then, about 8 years ago, something big happened. A huge
company decided to build their main offices right next door to
my hometown! At first, the construction was really annoying.
