Over the past few years, there have been significant advancements in our understanding of the intricate relationship between genetics and cancer, leading to new possibilities for personalized treatment approaches. My goal today is to share with you the latest research in this field and discuss its implications for both clinical practice and future research.Firstly, it is essential to acknowledge that cancer is a complex disease caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. While environmental factors such as exposure to carcinogens, lifestyle choices, and infections play a significant role in cancer development, it is becoming increasingly evident that genetic alterations also contribute to the initiation and progression of various types of cancer.The discovery of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes has revolutionized our understanding of cancer genetics. Oncogenes are genes that have the potential to cause cancer when they are mutated or activated, promoting cell growth and division. On the other hand, tumor suppressor genes are responsible for regulating cell growth and division, and when these genes are mutated or inactivated, they lose their ability to control cell proliferation, leading to uncontrolled cell growth and the development of cancer.
