Wei was powerful and rich, Wu had brave generals and wise ministers but Shu had only a small territory and a small fighting force.The head of Shu, Liu Bei, heard of a very wise and knowledgeable man called Zhuge Liang who lived secluded in Longzhong.Zhuge Liang was only 26, and Liu Bei thought that if he had him as his prime minister and army advisor, he would be able to strengthen his state and even wipe out the other two kingdoms.So together with his best men Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, Liu Bei travelled the great distance to Longzhong to ask Zhuge Liang to assist him. But again they failed to see Zhuge Liang, because he had been wandering about for days and had not yet returned to his home.Zhang Fei was an impetuous man. He became impatient and urged Liu Bei to go back. This time, Liu Bei left a note expressing his admiration for Zhuge Liang's superb talent and insight and asked him to help him administer his kingdom.Several days passed. Liu Bei told his two men that he has decided to make a third trip to visit Zhuge Liang. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, were famous generals, they were secretly very jealous of the talent of Zhuge Liang. Guan Yu said,"Perhaps Zhuge Liang is not up to his reputation. It is not worth going for a third time."Zhang Fei shouted:"Come on, why waste so much time? Let me get him for you. I dare him to say no, I'll tie him up with a rope."'How can you do that?"Liu Bei criticized him,"Zhuge Liang is a very wise and talented man. We must show politeness, not rudeness, in requesting his help."Luckily, when they arrived at Longzhong the third time, Zhuge Liang was home. But he was taking a nap."shh! Do not disturb him. Let us wait outside the door for him to wake up."Liu bei said this to his men, and sat by the door while Zhuge Liang was sleeping.
