展延信用证，涉及到两个期限：即装运期和有效期。严格地讲，展证也是一种改证，只不过是修改日期而已。不过，一般习惯上把日期的延长叫展证，而且一般都是由卖方提出的。由于展证就等于改动双方已达成的合同，因此，买方完全有理由拒绝展证，所以要求展证的信一定要注意写得委婉客气。展证信的中心内容：提出具体的展证要求，即要求展延多少天或展延到具体某一天，同时一定要充分说明原因和理由。

• When asking for amendment to an L/C, it is essential to: • 1) in the opening sentences thank the customer for the L/C you received and give a detailed description about it; • 2) give the reasons why you have to ask for the amendment to the L/C; • 3) tender apologies, should we be the responsible party. If not, omit this step; • 4) express your appreciation for the amendment and state your good will to make prompt shipment. • When asking for extension of an L/C, it often consists of the following parts: • 1) in the opening sentences express your thanks for the L/C you received and give a detailed description about it; • 2) give the reasons why you have to ask for the extension of the L/C; • 3) put forward the detailed requirements of shipment and validity extension; • 4) express your appreciation for the extension and make sure you will make prompt shipment.

二、UCP600关于改证的规定
（1）除第三十八条（即可转让信用证）另有规定者外，未经开证行、保兑行（如有的话）及受益人同意，信用证即不得修改，也不得撤销。（2）开证行自发出修改之时起，即不可撤销地受其约束。保兑行可将其保兑扩展至修改，并自通知该修改时，即不可撤销地受其约束。但是，保兑行可以选择将修改通知受益人而不对其加具保兑。若如此，其必须毫不延误地将此告知开证行，并在其给受益人的通知中告知受益人。

一、修改信用证的程序
1、受益人审证后，对于信用证中不能接受、不能执行或不能按期执行的内容，缮制改证函，向开证申请人提出改证要求。 2、开证申请人同意后，向原开证行提出改证申请。 3、开证行同意后，向信用证的原通知行发出信用证修改通知书。 4、通知行审核无误后，向受益人发出信用证修改通知书和信用证修改书。 5、受益人收到来自通知行发来的信用证修改通知书和信用证修改书后，信用证要求的修改正式生效。
