It's hard to turn down a tasty banana. They taste good and you don't have to wash them before

eating them. However, British scientists say that the fruit may disappear by 2050.

One reason for this is climate(气候) change. Scientists at the University of Exeter collected

data(数据)from 27 countries and regions that produce 86 percent of the world's bananas.

They found that climate change has improved growing conditions in 21 of these countries. In the

past 60 years, the average yield(平均产量) has reached 1.37 tons of bananas per hectare(公

顷).

However, if temperatures keep rising, this advantage will disappear. Ten of the countries,

including India, the world's biggest producer of bananas, will produce fewer bananas. By 2050,

the fruit may die out.

Shouldn't bananas grow more easily if it's hotter outside? In fact, the perfect temperature

range for growing bananas is between 24 and 32 C. If temperatures get too high, they will stop

growing.

Diseases are another danger to bananas. Unlike other crops, the bananas we grow come from

shoot cuttings(茎段)rather than seeds. This means that all banana plants have the same

genotype(基因型). In other words, if a disease is able to kill one plant, it could kill them all.

One serious disease is called Panama. Caused by fungus(真菌) in the soil, it spreads easily. It

has spread across South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Australia. If one banana plantation(种植园)suffers from the disease, it will take 30 years until it is able to grow bananas again.

Scientists have yet to find a cure for this disease.(1)What does the underlined word "this" in Paragraph 2 refer to?

Worrying about our problems can affect how we do at school. It can also influence the way we

behave with our families. So how do we deal with our problems? There are many ways and here

is one of them

Most of us have probably been angry with our friends, parents or teachers. Perhaps they said

something you didn't like, or you felt they were unfair. Sometimes people can stay angry for years

about a small problem. Time goes by, and good friendship may be lost.

When we are angry, however, we are usually the ones affected. Perhaps we have seen young

Everyone worries. But how do you deal with your worries? Whether your worries are big or

small, you can take these three steps to deal with your worries:

Try to find out what you're worried about.

Sometimes, you will know what you're worried about. Other times, you might not. Try to find

it out first. If you can't, you can ask for help.

Think of ways to make it better

There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no

fun and it won’t solve your problem.

Grades at school are often a top worry for kids. If you're worried about grades, ask yourself

these questions:

☆Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me?

☆How do I get ready for class? Do I go over (复习) my notes even when there isn't a test?

Anger is a kind of feeling. Many things can make you angry. When your teacher gives you too

much homework, when your team loses an important game, or when a friend borrows your

favorite toy and then breaks it, you may get really angry.

Usually your body will tell you when you are angry. For example, you breathe faster, your face

turns red, and you may want to break something or hit someone. But sometimes you hide your

anger. For example, you may hide it in your heart. The problem is that if you do this, you may get

a headache or your stomach may hurt.

In fact, it's not good to hide your anger, and it's normal for you to get angry sometimes. But

anger must go out in the right way, without hurting others or yourself.

Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it's hard for you to

communicate with your parents, don't worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the

generation gap (代沟).

Don't argue (争辩) with your parents. Don't get to your parents when you are angry. Your

parents probably won't consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can't express

yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are

unhappy.

Then think

about what you want to say to your parents. If you don't think you can

"Without music, life would be a mistake, "famous German philosopher(哲学家)Friedrich

Nietzsche said over a century ago. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some

American schools have cut music classes to control budgets(预算).

For example, Chicago public schools hurt arts education when it fired over 1, 000 teachers.

Among them, 10 percent of the teachers taught art or music, according to The Washington Times.

In fact, this is not just a problem in the US. In other countries, such as China and the UK, music

classes are not thought to be as important as ones like science, math and history. That's partly

because music is not seen as a very important life skill, and it isn't tested. Many students are busy

with schoolwork, so parents and students choose to focus on subjects that are tested more often.

What do you see when you look at abstract (抽象的)art? Can you understand it? Does it

look like anything?

Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or

sculpt things exactly like they looked. They didn't want their art to be realistic(现实的). They

were more interested in basic shapes and colours.

Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles.

Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours (his "blue period"). Later, he used more red and pink

colours (his "rose period"). Many of his other paintings are called "cubist (立体派的)"

because they are made of painted squares.

After a long time, Picasso's paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and
