况且,岳麓书院的读书声,绝不仅仅是个体的嗓音,而是一个集体共同发出的可以超越时空的声音。

⑥然而在岳麓书院,我看见了另一种和现实合拍的读书人。
他们胸怀远志,充满自信,对待自己和对待社会都非常清醒,一开始就抱准了“学以致用”的信条……脚下呈现着一条金光大道。

这浪漫的称谓,使书院带有山林的意味。
北宋时,岳麓书院就因当时的山长周式治学有方而声名遐迩,真宗皇帝特意召见了周式,拜为国子监主簿,把他留在京城讲学做官;而周式坚辞不受,执意要回岳麓山跟学生们在一起……他真是一位很纯粹的教书先生。
⑩岳麓书院里的白泉轩,还曾记载着两位大学者的友谊。
那一年,应岳麓主教张栻的盛情相邀,朱熹远道而来,两人在此朝夕相处,促膝谈心达三昼夜。
他们谈论的具体话题肯定多是一些做学问方面的事。
那次朱熹在长沙停留了两个月,与张栻会讲岳麓,吸引了一千多位从全国各地赶来的听众,连讲堂外面的院落都挤满了人。
至今在讲堂正中高约l米的长方形讲坛,还供奉着两把空空的椅子,作为对著名的“朱张会讲”的纪念。
⑪我绕着这神圣的讲坛转了一圈,仿佛又看见那些消失了的读书人。
他们都从哪里来,又去了哪里?他们朗读或辩论的声音,又重新演变成窗外的风声与雨声。
哦,讲堂很大,世界很小!那些面貌相仿、神情专注的读书人,也许仅仅是世界的过客,可他们永远都是岳麓书院里的主人。
⑫作为一个当代的读书人,我虽然是第一次拜访岳麓书院,仍然有回家的感觉。
