Travell around the world in 80 days

1.This is the story of a great journey around the world.It began in the city of London over 100 years ago,in 1872.Phileas Fogg lived in Longdon at 7 Savile Row.People said that he was the quiest man in England.Phileas Fogg was also an exact man.He was always exactly on time.He did everying at exactly the same time every day.He got up exactly at 8 o’clock.He had tea at 8:23.He shaved at 9:37.Phileas Fogg wanted a new manservant,Jean Passepartout wanted to work for Phileas Fogg.He had came to England to find a quiet life as a manservant.I am a good man sir.but I have down a lot of work.He had worked in a circus,taught gymnastics and been a firemen.I heard that youwere the quietest man in England.So I would like to work for you. “What time is it ?It is exactly 11：29”. “All right,from now, at 11:29,on Octorber2,1872.I am your employer. That eveing ,Fogg was at his club as usual at 6:10.AS usual,He played card game called whist with some gentlemen at his club.Bofore the game started,the gentlemen spoke about a bank thief.The paper said that the man had stolen fifty-five thousand pounds from the bank of England.The thief was well dressed,tall,good looking, a real gentleman.One of the whist player was the governor of bank of England said “The best dectives have been sent to every part he won’t escape. “I don’t know” said Stuart “The world was a big place”.Pilleas Fogg didn’t agree.The was a big place?how do you mean?Has it become smalled?I think Mr Fogg is right.Today you can go around the world very quickly. The time has wirked out a timetable.According to the times,a journey around the world would take 80 days.but that doesn’t allow anything for storm, accidents and so on.It allows for everying.It’s all right on paper.but in real life.I’ll like to see you try Mr Fogg.I ave 20,000 pounds in the bank. I’m ready to bet that I can do it .Any unexpected delay will make you lose.Nothing is ever unexcepted.In the end,Fogg’s friends tok the bet.If he made the journey around the world in 80 days or less.Fogg would win the bet.They would have to pay him 20.000 pounds.If the journey took more than 80 days and he didn’t return by December 21,he would lose the bet.The train for Dover leaves at 8:45 in the eveing.I’ll set on it.Fogg went home and told Passertout to pack his bag. “Hurry we leave in 10 minutes, we are going around the world.2..The journey around the world began in London.Fogg travelled from London to Bombay by this route. In Suez,an important new character entered the story,a man named Fix.He was small thin man with very bright eyes.He was the detective.Fix had been sent by Scotland Yard to watch for the gentleman-thief.After the ship arrived,he saw Fogg and spoke to Passputod.He said that Fogg was carrying a lot of money.and he was travelling around the world.I will show you the way to the shops.Fixoffered.Thank you But I must be careful not to miss the boat.Said Passertoud You get plenty of time,isn’t 12 o’clock yet?Passertout pulled out his big watch.Your watch is slow.It’s a fine old family watch.It doesn’t lose 5 minutes in a whole year.”I see ,you still got London time.That is 2 hours behind Suze time.You must change your watch to show the time of each country you go to .”what,change my watch,never.’then the time by your watch won’t be the same as the sun’s time.”‘the sun will be wrong’Fix belived that Fogg was the thief so he sent telegram to London to ask for an arrest warrant.Fix began to follow Fogg and Passertpud after they left Suez.Fogg got to Bombay 2 days ahead of schedule on October 22.Form Bombay Fogg and Passertoud took a train to Calcutta.The railway line wasn’t finished.so they had to travel part of the way by elephant.There were in a thick forest in mountains when suddenly the elephant stopped.Though the branches,they saw a crowd passing.some men were pulling and pushing a young woman.She was very beautiful,but very wick.”I know the young woman”said the Guide.her name is Aouda.Her mother and father died and against to wishes her family married her to an old prince.Then came men carrying the body in fine clothes.The dead man was Prince.They are taking the body to a tample to burn it.The young woman is his wife and they will burn her with his body.They are foring her to die wit h old man why isn’t she trying to get away.They have given her a drug,We’ll save her.It was nearsunrise.Fogg and guide watched and waited. Passepartoud had moved away alone.The Prince was inside the temple. The old Prince body was on top of a large of wood.They would burn it at sunrise.At the first light of day, the people work and went to the temple.The laid Princess next to the Prince’s body,Some men fire to the wood.Suddenly,everything changed.All the people fell down on their faces in fear and surprise It seemed that the old Prince was not daed.He stood up,picked up the young woman and came down off the burning wood pile.He came towards Fog and guide.A minutes later,they were all on the elephant and it was moving thtough the forest.When Aouda woke up ,she thanked to Fogg with tears in her eyes.Fogg saw that she was still afraid because the Prience’s people would follow her to any parts of the India.I’ll take you to HongKong and you can stay there until the mater is forgotten.It was a kiond offer but he made it quite coldly. “I have an uncle in HongKong,He will look after me.you have a kind heart..The train reached Culcutta at 7 o’clock in the moring. Phlieas Fogg and his group travelled from Calcutta to San Francisco by this route.They made stops in HongKong and Yokohama.Aouda’s uncle had left HonKong,so Fogg invented her to travel with him to England.Fix,the dective,travelled along with him.Fix couldn’t arrest Fogg until the warrant arrived from England.On December 3,the ship sailedinto San Francisco.They boarded the train for New York at six in the evening.In the old days ,it took 6 months or more to make the journey between San Francisco and New York.Now with the railway,the time was only 7days.Fogg expected to catch a ship on New York on December 11,but there were several unexpected stops.The first unexpected stops came after the train had reached the open grasslands.Great armies buffaloes sometimes crossed the railway line.Then the had to stop and wait until the railway line was clear.It happened to Fogg’s train.The passengers watched the beasts slowly moving past the train.Passparpout was very angry about with buffuloes.The only Passenger who seemed not to mind the delay was Flisleas Fogg.It took 3 hours for all of them to pass.At last the line was clear.There was anther unexpected stop.Fogg was playing whist with Aouda and Fix when it happened.A railwayman gave Fogg and his friends the news.The bridge over the river at Medicine Bow is broken.said the railwayman.It still has railway line over it,but this heavy train finish it.All the passengers except Fogg looked very unhappy.There may be a way of getting over.If we cross as fast as possible.we may be all right.The driver drove the train back for a few kilometers.Then ,he and his fireman built up the fire and the driver started.The train went forwards again faster and faster.They were travelling at 160 kilometres an hours.The sound comeing form the engers was one lound hiss as they reached thebridge.The whole train seemed to throw itself from one river bank to the other.They were cross there was a great noise behind them.It was the sounds of the bridge falling into the river.Their train arrived in New York on December 11 at 11:15 in the evening.twenty hours behind schedule.Their ship had sailed for Livepool at 10:30.None of the other shipinglines could get him to London by December 21.It seemed that Fogg had lost his bet.The next day ,Fogg went down to the river to try to find a ship.he saw a ship that looked fast and spoke to the captain.Are you sailing soon captain in an hour.Will you take me and three others to England ?Will you take us to France.I ofter you two thousand dollars.We sail at nine.Fogg went quilkly to the hotel and came back with Aouda，Passpertud and Fix,who was still travelling with Fogg.They were on board the ship when she sailed at 9 o’clock.The next day,December 13,a man stood on the bridge of the ship.You might think that it would be the captain.It was not The man of the bridge was Fileas Fogg.Fogg had given money to ship’s officers and they had helped him take over the ship.Fogg locked the captain in his cabin.They had done nearly half of the crossing when the ship’s engineer spoke to Fogg:We have been going at full speed and using a lot of coal.There isn’t enough coal to take us at this speed to England.”Keep going at full speed until the coal used up.”I sent you ,caption,because I want to you sell me your ship.you see,I have to burn it.At least the top parts.We nend the wood for the engine.The shipcost me 50,000 dollars.And so,by buening the upper parts of the ship. Phileas Fogg was locked up in the police station.It was 2 oclock in the afternoon on December 21.A very fast train could still take him to London in time to be at his club by 8:45.At 2:23,the door was opened and Fix run in.He was out of breath,red in the face.The real bank thief was arrested 3 days ago.Fogg and his friends jumped into a carriage and drove to Livepool railway station.The London train had left half an hour before.Fogg ordered a special train,but the train reached the London railway station,the oclock showed 8:50.Fogg had made his journey around the world and he was 5 minutes late.He had left the bet.The next day,at 7:30 in the evening,Fogg came downstairs and spoke to Aouda.He was cool and unexcited as usual. “Madam ,can you forgive me for bringing you to England.When I decided to bring you here, I was rich.I expected to be able to give you part of my riches.
