They said plants had been the key object of study be cause their reaction to climate change could have an effect on food chains and ecosystem services. The study, published on the Nature website, uses the findings from plant life cycle studies and experiments across four c ontinents and 1,634 species. It found that some experiments had underestimated(低估)the speed of flowering by 8.5 times and leafing by 4 times.“Across all species, the experiments under-predicted the speed of the advance — for both leafing and flo wering — that results from temperature increases,” the study said. The design of future experiments may need to be improved to better predict how plants will react to climate change, it sai d.Plants are necessary for life on the Earth. They are the bas e of the food chain, using photosynthesis(光合作用)to produce sugar from carbon dioxide and water. They let out oxygen which is needed by nearly every organism on the plan et.Scientists believe the world’s average temperature has rise n by about 0.8℃ since 1900, and nearly 0.2℃ every ten year s since 1979.So far, efforts to cut emissions(排放)of planet-warming greenhouse gases are not seen as enough to preve nt the Earth heating up beyond 2℃ this century — a point sci entists say will bring the danger of a changeable climate in which weather extremes are common, leading to drought, floods, crop failures and rising sea levels.57. What is the key information the author wants to give in Pa ragraph 1?A. Plants’ reaction to weather could have damaging effects on ecosystem.B. The increasing speed of flowering is beyond scientists’ exp ectation.C. Climate change leads to the change of food production patt erns.D. Food chains have been seriously damaged because of we ather.58. We can learn from the study published on the Nature web site that ______.A. plants’ flowering is 8.5 times faster than leafingB. there are 1,634 plant species on the four continentsC. scientists should improve the design of the experimentsD. the experiments failed to predict how plants react to climate change59. Scientists pay special attention to the study of plants beca use _______.A. they can prove the climate change clearlyB. they are very important in the food chainsC. they play a leading role in reducing global warmingD. they are growing and flowering much faster than before60. What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs about t he world’s temperature?A. It has risen nearly 0.2℃ since 1979.B. Its change will le ad to weather extremes.C. It is 0.8℃ higher in 1979 than that of 1990.D. 高中英语Unit3AtasteofEnglishhumour单元加餐练(含解析)新人教版必修4

单元加餐练Ⅰ.阅读理解Mr Bean is an internationally recognized comedy character on TV and in films. He always gets into awkward and absurd (荒谬的) situations, which greatly amuses audience regardless of their nationality orculture. The humour is always made clear through a series of simple and funny acts that rely simply on body language. One of my favourite shows is Mr Bean in a restaurant. After being seated at his table, Mr Bean takes out a card, writes a few words on it, seals (密封) it in an envelope and places it on the table. After a moment, he looks back at the envelope but this time he looks surprised, as if he did not know it was there. He opens it to find a birthday card and happily puts it on the table for everyone to see. When he looks at the menu, a surprised look quickly appears on his face. He takes all the money out of his wallet, counts it and puts it in a saucer (茶托). He then looks from the menu to the money with concern until he finds one thing that makes him smile. Then he orders a dish called “steak tartare”. When the dish arrives, he is shocked to discover that “steak tartare” is actually raw hamburger. He makes an attempt to eat it, but it is clear from the look on his face that he finds the taste truly disgusting. He can't hide his feelings, except when a waiter asks if everything is all right. When this happens, he smiles and nods, showing that everything is fine. When the waiters are not looking, however, he hides the raw meat anywhere he can reach — the sugar bowl, the tiny flower vase, and under a plate. He becomes so desperate (孤注一掷的) in the end that he even hides some inside the purse of a woman sitting near him and throws some down the trousers of the restaurant's violinist!I like to watch Mr Bean on TV, but I wouldn't like to meet someone like him in real life and I certainly wouldn't like to have dinner with him!语篇解读:本文主要描述了憨豆先生是一位著名的幽默大师,并列举了他在餐馆的搞笑表演。

AThe influence of America is increasing in my country.Spanish people drink Coca Cola, wear blue jeans, watch Hollywood movies, listen to American music, and eat fast food, and they do these things every day.I think that American movies are a good way to spread American culture because people are often influenced by what they see in the movies. Most of the programs and documentaries (纪录片) we watch on TV are from America, and most of the movies we go to see are made in Hollywood. In the last few years, the government has tried to protect the Spanish movies. Now,in our cinemas,at least twenty percent of the movies which are shown must be from Spain or from other countries in Europe.American culture is a part of Spanish life now. It’s certain that many things from America are as much a part of people’s lives as Spanish things. For example,Coca Cola is as familiar to everybody as any typical Spani sh product.I’ve known about Coca Cola for my whole life. However,it’s different with Western fast food. For example,I don’t think McDonald’s is as successful in Spain as it is in other countries. In my opinion, one of the reasons may be the lifestyle of the Spanish people. The Spanish people normally eat at home.On the other hand, maybe McDonald’s hamburgers will eventually replace the famous Spanish tapas. It’s true that in every city in Spain you can find a McDonald’s,and it is more popular among the Spanish children than among the adults. In any case,it’s obvious that American culture is becoming more and morea part of our lives every day.21.From the first paragraph we can know that .A.the influence of America on Spain can be found everywhereB.most S panish people don’t like to listen to their own musicC.fast food spreads from Spain to the United StatesD.some Spanish actors go to America to improve their acting skills答案 A解析推理判断题。
