有的英语句子在形式上是否定的，而在意义上却并不表示否定，
译成汉语时，可译为肯定句。
例1．Not until the invention of the high altitude rocket did the direct study of the upper atmosphere become possible. 直到发明高空火箭后，才有可能直接研究上层大气。
这些金属的导电率都不及铜高。

4、双重否定
双重否定是一种注重修辞作用的语法结构，也就是两个否定意 义的词在同一个句子里出现而构成双重否定的语言现象，即否
定之否定。双重否定将整个句子变成了强势的肯定。在翻译时，
既可译成双重否定，也可译成肯定。
例1．If it were not enough acceleration, the earth satellite would not get into space. 要是没有足够的加速度，地球卫星是不能进入太空的。

• 从以上译例中，我们可以看出，在汉译英时，为了 正确处理正说和反说的转换，可以灵活地变换句型， 也可以利用反义词。此外，英语中有许多含有否定 或半否定语气的词语，在翻译中可充分利用，以便 使译文符合英语习惯，并使句子结构多样化。
