听力原文: In America, May and June are the traditional months for
graduations. The National Association of Colleges and Employers collects
information on the college job market. NACE’s latest survey in March found that
employers expected to hire twenty-two percent fewer graduates this year than last.
Most blamed the recession. The most recent student survey showed that just (2)
one-fifth of those who looked for jobs before graduation have one by now. This is
compared to half of students who had looked for a job by this time two years ago. But
one difference; fewer of this year’s graduates have started to search for jobs. Still,
NACE found no big increase in graduates who plan to stay in school and avoid the job
market. About twenty-seven percent said they plan to go to graduate school, compared
to about twenty-four percent a year ago. Engineering and accounting graduates were
more likely to have started their job search already and to have accepted a job. These
are among the best paid professions for people with just a college degree. So how can
students increase their chances for a job? The most effective tool is a school’s career
counseling center. (3) Counselors can help students with job applications and
preparing for interviews. They also let students know about job openings and events
like job recruitment fairs. They can also help first-year students decide what to study.

friends. She also took out a bag of gifts for us. All the students exchanged their gifts. I
gave out shells from my hometown in China. Everyone loved them as they were so
different. I was thrilled with all the gifts I had received: cards, bookmarks, pencils and
chocolates. At last, Mrs. Toalson handed out the certificates for the winners of the best
boxes. Everyone waited in anticipation. (6)”The cutest box is Mary’s pink piggy,”

1. 有人认为人生最好的准备,就是学会与他人合作。有些人则持相反意见,认为只有竞争中有成功。谈谈你的看法,并说明原因。
正确答案: Cooperation and Competition As we proceed through life,
we are faced with many types of situations. Each situation requires us to behave in
different ways. We may be faced with a large project which, in order to be
accomplished efficiently, demands the cooperation of each person. In this instance,
we must be flexible, supportive, and be willing to compromise. Each person is only a
small part of a much larger machine. Being competitive also plays a role in life. The
desire for success inspires us to work harder. If there was no competition, a sports
meeting will never be exciting and successful; we could never have champions. To

Children are a relatively modern invention. Until a few hundred years ago they
look like adult, wearing grown-up clothes and grown-up expressions, performing grown-up tasks.
Children did not exist because the family as we know it had not evolved.
Children today not only exist; they have taken over, in no place more than in America, and at on
time more than now. It is always Kids' Country here. Our civilization is child-centered,
child-obsessed. A kid's body is our physical ideal. In Kids' Country we do not permit middle-aged.
