(My life in university)

我在大学里的生活(My life inuniversity)我在大学里的生活(My life in university)我在大学里的生活(My life in university) 我在大学里的生活(my life in university) everyone, every high school student is looking forward to life in university. it seems that if you get into university, whichever one it is, you will surely lead a free and exciting life. i was one among this everyone . but after i stepped onto the grounds of peking university, i began to realize that the atmosphere here is far from throwing the damned homework behind! , on the contrary, competition is so fierce that one has to work as hard as in high school.that was what my life was like as a freshman. but things began to change after a year. i felt that now i should have a different life, not the same one as in high school. life depends on one's own choices, so i decided to do something besides studying.therefore, last term, i applied for a volunteer job in the museum. the capital museum was short of guides for a special exhibition in which hundreds of wonderful items from britishmuseums would be on show. they needed english speaking guides, and as i am an english major, and i am a nearly fluent speaker. so it was not difficult for me to get employed after several weeks' preparation, that is. 43 pages of scripts in both chinese and english to memorize, i went to work. you can hardly imagine my nervousness when i faced the inquiring visitors. some of them were so hard to please that i almost felt humiliated. however, you know, you cannot always be your parents' baby, you cannot always be your teachers' favorite, and you will have to serve others in the future. what i can do is to perfect myself and leave no room for reproach. i am quite proud of this job even now.this term i was confronted with a dramatic change because i made a new friend. well, you may laugh, what's the big deal about a new friend? how can he or she change my life dramatically? maybe it is because she tips the balance of my life, or rather, she brings something brand new into my life. she is a german girl.we met each other through a mutual-help program. my original intent was to improve my oral english, hers to learn chinese--both very practical and instrumental purposes. it sounds funny that i should find a non-native speaker for anenglish language partner. and i felt this way myself since my english speaking ability goes like a parabola: at first i could speak english more fluently, and then i found i had acquired a slight german accent. what a thing! however, as compensation, we both have made good new friends. i don't know how we managed to become so close, but i remember we didn't try too hard (she often says that we are fated ). i sometimes think there's an unbridgeable gap between any two cultures. that may be true. but it shouldn't be a serious obstacle for two peoples to be true and good friends. we talk just as we talk with our respective native girl friends. we tell each other a lot of interesting things. so we are often shocked by the one another's experience and then burst into laughter. how cultures differ! what is common in germany cannot help but be extraordinary in china, and vice versa.i also met lots of other german students through my friend. they were mostly friendly and talkative, and enthusiastic about chinese culture, which satisfies me and makes me and a little bit proud. what they ask about chinese language and culture often leaves me contemplative. never had i thought about such questions before. nor have i realized that chinese is so fantastic, and difficult to learn! we reallyshould be happy that we were born chinese so that we don't need to learn languages from outside.of course there are times when my friend and i have a difference in opinions. we diverge especially with regard to life-style. generally chinese students spend more time studying, while german (or western) students spend less. the former stay in the library, while the latter are drinking and having fun in clubs. the former think that they should work hard in order to win a place in a competitive society, while the latter think that they should have a rest after some intense work and enjoy life. i am a relatively traditional chinese person, which means i favor the former attitude; but my friend is doubtlessly leading the latter life. anyway, we won't impose our own opinions on the other because we know that china and germany are two totally different societies. interestingly, one of the german boys once said, we can expect that china will become the superpower in the world while germany will decay after some time. why? because you are studying when we are drinking! it is just a joke and he apparently has no intent to work harder in order to save germany from this supposed decadence .。

University life is a transformative period for many, marking a significant shift from the structured environment of high school to a more independent and self-directed phase of personal and academic growth. Here's a glimpse into what this exciting journey entails.Academic Freedom and ChallengesThe first year of university is often a time of adjustment. Students are introduced to a variety of subjects through a liberal arts curriculum, allowing them to explore diverse fields before they specialize. The academic workload can be rigorous, with research papers, group projects, and examsthat require a high level of commitment and time management skills.Living ArrangementsFor many students, university is the first time living away from home. Dormitories offer a communal living experience where students learn to share space and responsibilities with roommates. This phase teaches valuable life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.Social Life and NetworkingThe social aspect of university is just as important as theacademic. Clubs and societies provide a platform to pursue hobbies and interests, meet like-minded individuals, and develop a sense of community. Networking events and seminars are also opportunities to connect with professionals in various industries.Campus Resources and ServicesUniversities offer a wealth of resources to support student success. Libraries, computer labs, and study centers are essential for academic work. Additionally, counseling services, health centers, and career development offices are available to address non-academic concerns.Personal DevelopmentBeyond the classroom, university life is a crucible for personal growth. Students learn to navigate the complexities of adult life, make decisions, and take responsibility for their actions. It's a time for self-discovery and the formation of one's identity.Career PreparationInternships, workshops, and career fairs are integral to preparing students for the job market. Universities often have partnerships with businesses and organizations that provide students with real-world experience and networking opportunities.ConclusionUniversity life is a blend of academic rigor, personal challenges, and social engagement. It's a time of immense learning, not just in terms of academic knowledge, but also in terms of life skills and personal development. It's a stepping stone to adulthood and a gateway to the professional world, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience that shapes the future of its students.。

(My,ideal,university,life)
Firstly, I should guarantee my study which is regarded as the most important mission to me. I wish I can be taught by more qualified teachers and listen to the lectures given by knowledgeable professors. Therefore, they can deliver their thoughts to me to broaden my horizons. Besides, it’s lucky for a student to be admitted into the ideal major following his or her first choice. As for me, I hope to learn finance and obtain proficient academic knowledge.
As a member of the hundreds of thousands university
students, I don’t want to lead a nothing-special life. Therefore, I'm supposed to have my own guideline: Make choices that lead to a clearer vision of who I am, what I can do, and how I may tap my potential.
To make full use of my college life and lead an ideal one, I shall design a blueprint of this period.

My Big Adventure to College!Hi Mom and Dad! I'm writing to tell you all about my first year at college. It's been such an exciting adventure! When you dropped me off on move-in day, I was a little nervous. My stomach had butterflies fluttering around. My new home was this huge building called a "residence hall" where I share a tiny room with someone called a "roommate." It was scary at first to live with a stranger, but my roommate is actually really nice. His name is Greg and he's from California - can you believe how far away that is?The residence hall is kind of like a giant house with hundreds of rooms all joined together. We have our own bathroom that Greg and I share, but there are also these crazy things called "communal bathrooms" with a bunch of showers and toilets for everyone on the whole floor to use. Yeah, it's pretty gross, but at least we have our own little bathroom. There's also a huge lounge area with couches, TVs, and even a kitchen! My favorite part of the residence hall is the dining hall. It's this gigantic room with tons of food everywhere you look. They have pizza, burgers, tacos, pasta, salads - you name it! I'veprobably gained like 20 pounds from eating so much. You just grab a tray and can eat as much as you want. It's like having an all-you-can-eat buffet every single day!The dining hall is also where I met a lot of my new friends. We all sit together at the biggest table we can find. My friend group is like 10 people from all over - New York, Florida, Illinois, you get the picture. They're all so cool and fun to hang out with. We play video games, watch movies, or just goof around together every night in the lounge. It's a never-ending sleepover! But of course, I also have to go to class. Can you believe I have like 5 different classes every day? And they aren't anything like elementary school. The "professors" just stand up and talk for an hour straight. I have to take notes on everything they say because it'll be on the tests. The classes are huuuuge too, with like 200 students in one classroom. It's pretty intimidating, but I'm slowly getting used to it.The buildings on campus are gigantic, and there are so many of them! I have to use a map on my phone to find my way around. Everything is labeled with these weird codes like "MLB 2345" instead of just saying "Math classroom." My favorite building is the library though - it's7 stories tall and full of bookson every topic you can imagine. I like to explore the aisles and aisles of shelves when I need a break from studying. There's so much freedom at college too. My parents aren't here to tell me what to do, so I get to make my own decisions. I have to be responsible for getting myself to class on time, doing my homework, and even doing my own laundry. Speaking of laundry, I may or may not have turned all my white shirts pink by accidentally mixing them with my red sweatshirt... Whoops!I've also gotten to try a ton of new experiences here. Like joining clubs - I'm a part of the Baking Club, where we get to make super fancy desserts every week. I've gotten pretty good at decorating cupcakes and pastries! I also went to my first college football game a few weeks ago. Oh man, the crowd was wild! We were all cheering and screaming and the student section had so much energy. I've never seen anything like it before.College has been a total blast so far, but I do get a little homesick sometimes. I miss playing Legos with you guys, watching our favorite movies together, and most of all, your delicious home-cooked meals. The dining hall food is good, but nothing beats your homemade chocolate chip cookies!I can't wait to come home for Thanksgiving break in a few weeks. College has given me so many amazing new experiences, but home will always be my favorite place. I've gotten so much more independent and grown up so much already. You two should be so proud of your little college kid!I'll make sure to give you both big hugs as soon as I see you. Love youYour son/daughter,[Your name]。

Professor: In this first part, we will learn how to ask what classes someone is taking. Patty: Hi Eric! Are you having fun at college?Eric: Yes, it's great. How many classes are you taking?Patty: I'm taking four classes. Are you taking a lot of classes?Eric: I'm taking three classes. Professor: Well Winnie, maybe they are taking hard classes and have to study a lot.

Professor: Let's listen and find out what their classes are.Patty: What classes are you taking?Eric: Well, I'm taking English classes.Patty: I see. Well I'm taking a lot of science classes, like chemistry.Eric: Chemistry? Wow, that sounds hard. You must have a lot of work.

Professor: Well Winnie, some English classes are hard, even for Americans. Students have to read very hard books.

Professor: Well, let's listen to Eric and Patty talking about when they have classes.Patty: What's your schedule like?Eric: It's great! I only have classes from Monday to Thursday!Patty: You don't have any classes on Friday?Eric: No, so I can have fun with my friends on Thursday night. Professor: Yes, some students have easy schedules. Now let's listen to them talking about their professors.Eric: Who is your chemistry professor?Patty: I got Professor Franklin for chemistry. He's really great!Eric: Who did you get for math?Patty: I got Professor Martinez for math. He's good, but the TA is so boring. TA? TA是什么?Professor: A TA is a "teaching assistant." They are older students who help professors teach the younger students.

Professor: Right. You know, if my students don't study hard enough, sometimes I'll get a mean TA to help me teach.我们不认真,你就要找个厉害的TA,那我们如果特别认真,你就会找个特别帅的TA喽?Professor: No. If I get a cute TA, everyone will have a crush on him and study less. Now Eric and Patty are going to talk about what clubs they are in.Eric: What do you do outside of class?Patty: I'm in some fun clubs.Eric: What kind of clubs are you in?Patty: I do all kinds of things. I do some academic clubs, but other clubs are just for fun.

Professor: Some clubs are academic. Students study together for tests or discuss current events. Some clubs are just for fun. They do things like yoga and hip hop dancing. Eric: I'm only in a hip hop dancing club. It's really fun.Patty: A dancing club? I love hip hop music, and I love dancing.Eric: You should join. It's not full, and there are plenty of spaces left.Patty: I think I will. It would be fun to do a club together.

Professor: Well, Eric may be busy for other reasons. Tune in next time and we'll learn more about student life.

Professor: Eric wants to find out what clubs Patty is in. In this section, listen for the word "a cappella," which means singing without any instruments.Eric: So Patty, tell me about what kind of clubs you like to do.Patty: Well, I've always loved singing, but it's pretty hard to get into the singing clubs.Eric: I know, they can be pretty competitive. But if they don't accept you, you should start an a cappella group! I'm sure lots of people would want to join.Patty: Do you think it's hard to start a club?Eric: I don't think it's very hard. You should talk to the student life officials. I think you just have to find a professor to sponsor you.Patty: That's all? That's really easy. I think I'll do that.

Professor: That's right, Winnie. So what does Eric suggest that she do?Eric建议她自己组织一个"A-cappella" club,也就是不用乐器伴奏,全靠清唱的阿卡贝拉合唱团。

Professor: Yes, they're very popular. Now we're going to learn about what Eric does in his free time. Listen for the word "cramming," which means to study really hard.Patty: What about you, Eric? What kind of clubs and activities do you do outside of class?Eric: Personally, I don't have time for clubs.Patty: Why not? Do you have to do a lot of cramming for the three English classes you take?Eric: Actually, I'm not busy because I have to spend lots of time cramming. I'm busy because I have a part-time job.
