CrisisCrisis is to our life what illness is to our body. Just as fatal disease can destroy our body and sometimes even put an end to our lives, so does smashing crisis knock us down so hopelessly that we might never have chance of standing up again. However, most crises that frequent us in life are not such category. They, like occasional ailments which sometimes can bolster our body's immune system, are mostly minor and surmountable and therefore making us hardy enough to survive whatever adversities in our later life. Even those serious crises, if handled properly, can be turned to a blessing to us, too.As far as a nation is concerned, crisis can be rendered beneficial. Take Wenchuan earthquake which shook most of Sichuan recently for example. The crisis has cost us Chinese a lot. Houses collapsed, bridges broke down and many affected areas were cut off from the outside world. Nearly a million people lost their homes, ten thousands of people were injured and another ten thousands of people were killed. But our sufferings won't go in vain. Scientists are more determined to improve the means by which we forecast earthquakes with more accuracy. We should build houses which can survive the destructive earthquakes. And we also should better the mechanism to face the emergencies and crisis. As for economic life, crises are not always rendered bad. During these times, we can stop the race of fast economy to speculate about some fundamental issues of humanity such as how much high-speed development in this way can contribute to the well-being of human life. Just take my own country for instance. Of course, in the past two decades or so, our economy has gained the highest speed man has experienced. But haven't we paid too much? Our rivers are polluted. Our natural resources are shrinking. Our national power of creation is drained. Is it worthy of it? Isn't it high time we gave it a serious thought? Shouldn't we stop making ourselves long in quantity and short in quality? And chance of deep thought has come with this crisis, which is now deepening in most parts of the world.Crisis sometimes contributes to our life treasure in a way that few can imagine. It can weather us and make us strong enough to face ourselves when we feel weak. Eric, my uncle is a case in point. He had hard time in his childhood going through such a fatal disease that he had never thought he could survive. He was in due course saved by doctors. Ever since then he regarded his life as a second given by God and has been so grateful to the world that he has been doing whatever he can to give back in the same measure to other fellows. And now he is living a happy and successful life.As a well-known ancient Chinese notion goes, the past lessons if not forgotten can be good teachers for us all. If we can bear in mind the various sufferings and ordeals we have experienced, then our sufferings will not go unrewarded and those of our compatriots who was killed in the earthquake did not die in vain. We should take the lessons from crisis and regard them as a chance for new growth.Buying or Borrowing Books?Books are close friends of humanity. They can arm us with knowledge and information we need to make success of life. Through books we can obtain skills and techniques for survival and development. Through books we can enlighten our spirits and live a fuller life. There are generally two ways in which we can have access to books: borrowing or buying. While millions are borrowing books, I still think buying them best suits me and gives me the greatest enjoyment.Admittedly, there are a few merits for borrowing books. For one thing, borrowing books can save us huge amounts of money. And of course, with the money saved we can do other more worthy things .And also, as we borrow books from the library and friends, we normally have deadline to finish them, and consequently we can read more books in a limited time. And we can, above all, better our efficiency of our reading, just as a famous Chinese saying goes, “books can not be read unless borrowed.”However, some advantages for buying books are more obvious and compelling. One of them, definitely not shared by the choice of borrowing books, is the abundance of freedom that buying books can offer us. Since we can keep the books as long as we wish, we can read as much as we want. Another strength of owing books is that we can take whatever notes on the margin of the pages of the books. And finally, the process of selecting and keeping books can be a great fun that borrowing books can by no means offer. While borrowing books can, to some extent, quench our thirst for knowledge, buying books gives us greater pleasure of selecting and keeping the best of the world treasure. Can we think of any thing else more delightful and rewarding?2010年英语专业四级作文范文(三)TV—Blessing or Curse?Few things in the modern world have so much influence on people as the television does. Being besieged with TV news, absorbing teleplays, well-masterminded programmes, one can easily conclude that TV is a real blessing to the human society, offering affluent entertainment and information. Yet, convenient and helpful as it is, the television also brings negative effects. To begin with, TV makes people more passive than before: since everything on TV is ready-made, ther e is no space for audience‟s initiatives. The news has been carefully edited, teleplays well shot, programmes rehearsed, so all you need to do—and all you can do is to sit on a comfortable sofa and look at the screen. Though a lot of people enjoy doing this, the undoubted truth is that people are becoming more passive simply because there is no interaction and no efforts on them.Television also contributes to the fact that people nowadays are more distant to each other. Since most of our free time is taken away by the act of watching TV, we can no longer find enough time to visit friends, call on relatives or go to interesting places. This is also true within a family, parents and children and other members are less close to each other, because family get-togethers and conversations are disturbed by TV—when one member is watching TV, he would like others to keep quiet.Of course I am not denying the great conveniences and huge benefits the TV brings us, but to make it a really blessing to us, we should try to avoid its negative effects.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(四)Living in university dormitories or apartments in the community?I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and then move into an apartment for off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence of off-campus life.student‟s needs change over four years, so their housing should too.Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get the whole university experience. Plus, you interact more with other students. This includes not only your roommates, but everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can be a big help for the new students. Keeping up with studies in your first year is hard enough. You should not have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the university bureaucracy.Living in the dormitory also make a student feel more a part of the uniersity community. There are more opportunities for becoimg involved in university activities and networking with students and university administraction.Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Fingding an apartment, dealing with leases and the landlord‟s regulations, cooking meals, and figuring out budgets are all good practice for life after graducation. This kind of independence helps older students grow in adulthood.Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what is going on around them. Campus can be like little worlds of their own. There are few children or older people and everyone is focused on education. Getting to know neighbors who are not students is good for students coming from difference places. It is a chance to find out what other people think and feel.I think a combination of two years on-campus and two years off-campus is a winning combination for most students2010年英语专业四级作文范文(五)How to Achieve Team Work"Experience is the best teacher," people say. Indeed, the most important, and sometimes the hardest, lessons we learn in life come from our participation in situations. For my part, you can't learn everything from a book. And only practice makes you a successful person. To begin with, first-hand experience is important for a child. When we were children, we learned the fundamental lessons of life solely from experience. That is to say, parents teach us by experience such as how to walk steadily, how to cope with the adults, and so on and so forth. Secondly, first-hand experience is also important for an adolescent. At school, we do not learn everything from books, in that few books can teach us successfully how to meet new people and make more friends. Finally, as we leave adolescence behind and enter adult life, no book can teach us how to fall in love and get married. But experiencing our own triumphs and disasters is really the only way to learn how to live a successful life.To conclude, knowledge gained both from experience and from books have their respective roles to play in our life. However, in my view, I think the former one is more important than the latter one. The most important lessons can't be taught; they have to be experienced.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(六)Should college students do part-time jobs?In many countries it is common for teenagers to take part-time jobs while they are still in high school, while in other societies this is virtually unheard of. In the latter situation, students are expected to spend all of their time on their studies and consider schoolwork their "job". In my opinion, students benefit more from a more balanced lifestyle, which may include working at a part-time job. Therefore, I believe that it is a good idea for students to work while studying. While it is true that a student's most important goal must be to learn and to do well at his studies, it does not need to be the only goal. In fact, a life which consists of only study is not balanced and may cause the student to miss out on other valuable learning experiences. In addition to bringing more balance to a student's life, part-time work can broaden his range of experience. He will have the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and will be faced with a wider variety of problems to solve. Furthermore, work helps a student to develop greater independence, and earning his own pocket money can teach him how to handle his finances. Finally, a part-time job can help a student to develop a greater sense of responsibility, both for his own work and for that of the team he works with. For all of these reasons, I firmly believe that most students would benefit from taking a part-time job while they are in high school. Of course, they must be careful not to let it take up too much of their time because study is still their primary responsibility. In sum, living a balanced life is the best way to be successful.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(七)Should college students be allowed to get married? There is no denying the fact that it is a hotly debated topic today whether college students should be allowed to get married. Some time ago, the ban was lifted by some universities on students getting married. To this people‟s attitudes differ sharply. Some hold the positive view. They say that most college students are adults and that it is a basic right for those who have reached theappropriate ages to get married. Besides, they argue that with their biological and emotional needs met, these students will study better. The ban on this means a severe violation of human rights. Many others, however, hold the negative opposite view. They claim that the university or college is a place to study instead of a community to lead family life. Allowing college students to get married would adversely affect their study. For instance, they would spend too much time attending their family and love, unable to concentrate on their school work.As far as I am concerned, Weighing the arguments of both sides, I believe that college students should not be allowed to get married. Though mostly adults, they are actually immature psychologically. Their wishes to get married are, more often than not, impulses. Besides, as students, they are not ready to support a family financially.2010年英语专业四级作文范文(八)当今女性减肥已成为一种时尚。

英语专四2012作文范文

英语专四2012作文范文

英语专四2012作文范文The English Band 4 exam is a crucial milestone for many students in China who aspire to improve their English proficiency and open up new academic and professional opportunities. As a standardized assessment of English language skills, the exam evaluates candidates' abilities in reading, writing, listening, and translating. In 2012, the writing section of the exam presented a thought-provoking topic that challenged test-takers to demonstrate their critical thinking and composition skills. The 2012 English Band 4 exam writing prompt required candidates to write an essay discussing the advantages and disadvantages of using the Internet in education. This was a timely and relevant topic, as the integration of digital technologies into teaching and learning had been rapidly accelerating in the previous decade. The prompt encouraged examinees to consider the multifaceted impact of the Internet on the educational landscape, weighing both the potential benefits and drawbacks of this transformative tool. One of the primary advantages of using the Internet in education isthe unprecedented access to information and educational resources it provides. The World Wide Web has become a vast repository of knowledge, offering students the ability to research a wide range of topics, explore diverse perspectives, and delve into subjects that may not be covered in-depth within the confines of a traditional curriculum. This expanded access to information can foster a spirit of intellectual curiosity, encourage independent learning, and empower students to take a more active role in their own educational journey.Furthermore, the Internet has revolutionized the way in which information is disseminated and shared within the educational realm. Online platforms, such as educational websites, digital libraries, and virtual classrooms, have made it possible for students to access course materials, participate in discussions, and collaborate with peers from anywhere in the world, transcending geographical barriers. This enhanced accessibility and flexibility can be particularly beneficial for students who face logistical or physical constraints, allowing them to engage with educational content and activities at their own pace and convenience.Another significant advantage of using the Internet in education is the opportunity it presents for personalized and adaptive learning experiences. Intelligent tutoring systems and adaptive learning technologies can analyze a student's performance, learning preferences, and knowledge gaps, and then tailor the instructionalcontent and delivery to meet their individual needs. This level of personalization can lead to improved learning outcomes, as students are able to focus on areas that require more attention and receive targeted support and guidance. The Internet also facilitates the integration of multimedia and interactive elements into the educational experience, which can enhance engagement and comprehension. Audiovisual resources, such as educational videos, simulations, and virtual reality applications, can bring abstract concepts to life, making learning more dynamic and immersive. Additionally, interactive quizzes, games, and collaborative projects can foster active participation, promote critical thinking, and cultivate essential 21st-century skills, such as problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. However, the use of the Internet in education is not without its challenges and potential drawbacks. One significant concern is the issue of digital equity and the risk of exacerbating educational disparities. Access to reliable Internet connectivity and digital devices can be unequal, particularly in underserved or marginalized communities. This digital divide can limit the opportunities for some students to fully benefit from the educational resources and technologies available online, potentially widening the achievement gap and perpetuating educational inequalities.Another potential drawback of relying heavily on the Internet in education is the risk of distractions and information overload. The vast array of online content, social media platforms, and entertainment options can be highly engaging and alluring, leading to difficulties in maintaining focus and sustained attention during learning activities. This can be especially problematic for younger students, who may struggle to self-regulate their Internet usage and resist the temptation of digital distractions. Moreover, the quality and reliability of online educational resources can be variable, and it is essential for students to develop critical thinking skills to assess the credibility and accuracy of the information they encounter. The ease of access to information on the Internet can also lead to issues of plagiarism and academic dishonesty, as students may be tempted to copy or misrepresent online content as their own work. Finally, the reliance on technology and the Internet in education raises concerns about data privacy and security. The collection, storage, and potential misuse of student data, such as personal information, academic records, and learning analytics, can pose significant risks to individual privacy and autonomy. Ensuring the robust protection of sensitive data and maintaining the trust of students and their families is a crucial consideration in the integration of the Internet into educational practices.Despite these challenges, the advantages of using the Internet in education outweigh the potential drawbacks, and it is clear that this transformative technology will continue to play a crucial role in shaping the future of learning. By addressing the issues of digital equity, fostering digital literacy and responsible Internet use, and implementing robust data privacy and security measures, educators and policymakers can harness the power of the Internet to create more equitable, engaging, and effective educational experiences for students. As the 2012 English Band 4 exam demonstrated, the topic of using the Internet in education is a complex and multifaceted issue that requires careful consideration of both the benefits and the drawbacks. By engaging in thoughtful and nuanced discussions on this topic, students can not only demonstrate their English language proficiency but also develop the critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving educational landscape of the 21st century.。

专四2010年作文As college students juggle classes, assignments, and extracurricular activities, maintaining a clean living space can be a challenging task. While some may argue that students should clean their own rooms to foster responsibility and independence, there are several compelling reasons to consider hiring cleaners.Firstly, hiring a cleaner can save valuable time. College life can be hectic, and students often find themselves overwhelmed with their academic workload. By outsourcing cleaning tasks, students can dedicate more time to studying, participating in clubs, or even relaxing, which is essential for their mentalwell-being.Secondly, professional cleaners are trained and equipped to handle cleaning jobs efficiently. They can ensure that the living space is not only clean but also hygienic, reducing the risk of illness. This is particularly important during cold and flu season when a clean environment can contribute to better health.Lastly, hiring a cleaner can be a wise financial decision in the long run. A tidy living space can lead to improved focus and productivity, ultimately enhancing academic performance. In conclusion, while cleaning is a valuable skill, hiring cleaners can provide college students with more time, a healthier environment, and potentially better grades. It is an investment that can significantly improve their college experience.

1 ) You should stop smoking now.你现在应该戒烟了。

如要扩展此句,可以这样进行:You should give up smoking now, for the sake of your own health, for the sake of the health of others, for the sake of your family, and for the sake of the entire world. ”为了你自己的健康,为了他人的健康,为了你的家庭,也为了整个世界,你现在应该戒烟了。

2) Doctors think that an active person should have a restful hobby, while a person who sits ata desk should have a lively hobby.医生认为爱好活动的人应该有安静型的业余爱好,而伏案工作的人应该有着活动型的业余爱好。

Failure to follow the instructions may result in a loss of marks.SECTION B NOTE-WRITINGWrite on ANSWER SHEET THREE a note of about 50-60 words based on the following situation:Your good friend, John, is thinking of organizing an end-of-the-term party. Write him a note telling him that you like his idea and offer to help him. You have to be specific about how you can help him.Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness.大作文:Should college students hire a cleaning person? Some people think that college students shouldn't hire a cleaning person .This action will do waste of wealth, or do nothing for a good habits. It won't be live an independent life truly. Meanwhile, some people pro to them. They think college students should be of right to spend their own money just for themselves willingness and ways whatever they want what's more, students would have more time to do important thing as well.Personality, I insist on do that things by myself if I go to college. I think we should save money, and do something as possible as we can. Firstly, the money they spend is not earned by themselves but comes from their parents who work hard and try every means to live a better life. As grown ups, college students should understand parents' toil and save every possible penny by real actions. As the number of the cars is rising, we are facing some problems. One big problem is the pollution caused by the use of cars. In order to solve this problem, government agencies in some big cities recently suggest that a “pollution tax” should be put on private cars in order to control the number of c ars and reduce pollution in the city. For my part, I agree to this viewpoint, and my reasons are as follows: To begin with, cars contribute to the environmental pollution. For example, a lot of big cities in China are now plagued by serious air pollution. Then it is the responsibility of these private car owners to pay for the pollution and they should be taxed. The purpose of collecting environmental pollution tax is to raise the fund, and then utilize the tax revenue lever to protect our environment.Seco ndly, it is a good way to raise people’s environmental awareness by putting a pollution tax on private cars. If people suffer from the financial loss when making a decision, they will think more about their decision. Then they will consider more when deciding to buy a private car. Consequently, the increase rate of the number of the private cars can be controlled. In a word, it is a very good and necessary attempt to use the means of taxation to treat thepollution. Of course, it must be kept in mind that all people, including the private car owners, should try their best to protect the environment.小作文:Dear my friend,The summer vacation is coming next month.
