英语作文数字信息的处理方法

数字信息是写作要点，较为庞杂和零碎，处理不好，犹如记流水账，读起来味如嚼蜡，倒人胃口，但又不能避而不谈，予以省略。数字的处理十分棘手，可尝试如下做法。
规范性
英语作文数字表达首先要做到规范性，即规范、正确，这是对数字处理的最基本要求。各种数字表达都有其规范，在表达和运用时都须做到：
1.形式规范
（1）时刻表示法
例1日本警察厅宣布，截至日本时间3月18日上午9点，日本因“3·11”地震及海啸死亡的人数已经增至6405人，失踪人数为10259人。
分析：表示整点可用“基数词（+o’clock）”来表示，其余的则与汉语表示法相同。
参考答案：Japan’s National Police Agency said that the catastrophic March 11 earthquake and
ensuing tsunami had left 6，405 people dead and 10，259 others unaccounted for in Japan as of 9：00 a.m. March 18.
（2）年月日表示法
例2苹果中国客服人员表示，2月18日至3月2日在苹果中国在线商店中订购第一代iPad的用户将会得到1100元差价退款。
分析：年份用基数词表示，月份用英语表示，日可以用定冠词the加序数词表示，其前使用介词on，也可以直接放在月份后，用基数词表示。
参考答案：Apple China announced that customers who bought a first-generation iPad from its
online store between Feb. 18 and March 2 can get a refund of RMB1，100.
（3）编号表示法 龙源期刊网
例3据《东方早报》报道，上海地铁2号线将于“三八”妇女节期间开行“粉红专列”，该专列从3月8日起运行一周。
分析：编号表示的一般规则是将基数词直接置于待编种类后，如公共汽车编号Bus（No.）3/the No.3 bus，房间号Room 301等。
参考答案：Shanghai subway line 2 will start a special train decorated in pink on International
Women’s Day，which will run for a week beginning March 8，the Oriental Morning Post reported.
（4）面积、人口和历史等表示法
例4 ◆新渔市概况：
分析：人口可用“（with/have）a population of+基数词”表示，面积可用“cover an area of+基数词”表示，历史可用“with/have a （long） history of+基数词”表示。
参考答案：Xinyu is a newly-built city with a population of 0.8 million and covers an area of
4，000 square kilometers. The city，which faces Xinhai City in the east and Wangcheng City in the
west and lies 150 kilometers north of Laifu City，used to be a small fishing town with a long history
of more than one thousand years.
（5）分数、百分数表示法
例5十一届全国人大四次会议大会发言人李肇星表示，2011年国防费预算大约为6011亿元人民币，将比上年预算执行数约增加676亿元，大约增长12.7%。国防费预算占当年全国财政支出预算的6%，与前几年相比，所占比重有所下降。
分析：分数的分子用基数词，分母用序数词。分子和分母之间可以用连字符连接，当分子大于1时，分母用序数词的复数形式。百分数用“基数词+percent”来表示，增减幅度可借助by来体现。若表示“增加到”或“减少到”可借助to来体现。注意：分数、百分数修饰名词时须使用of连接。
参考答案：China plans to raise its defense budget by 12.7% to RMB601.1billion in 2011， said
Li Zhao?鄄xing，spokesman for the 4th Session of the 11th NPC. This year’s draft defense budget
was RMB67.6billion more than it was in 2010. It accounted for about 6% of the country’s total

2.运用正确
（1）数词作定语 龙源期刊网
例6随着4月18日火车的提速，公路运输和航空运输将在服务顾客的质量上展开竞争。
分析：借助连字符，数词与单数名词一起构成复合形容词。表示时间、距离时，使用含数词的名词所有格形式作定语。
参考答案：With April 18’s railway speedup，highway and air transport will have to compete
with better service for passengers.
（2）用单词表示，还是用阿拉伯数字表示
例7地震引发数起大火，并对建/物造成了严重的破坏。据估计，此次灾害导致500万日本家庭断电，另外还有100万家庭面临缺水的问题。
分析：10以上的确定数量用数字表示，10和10以下的数字或不确定数量一律用单词表示。位于句首和句末的数字用单词表示。日期、百分数、后带单位的数字，通常只用阿拉伯数字表示。
参考答案：The earthquake triggered fires and caused severe damage to buildings，leaving an
estimated five million households without electricity and one million without water.
艺术性
其次，数字表达还要做到艺术性，即美观出彩。对数字处理的艺术和策略可遵循如下步骤。
1.串并
找准信息的最佳结合点，将数字信息巧妙“嫁接”，以此将庞杂、零碎的事实巧妙安排，融会贯通，压缩整合，避免堆砌与杂乱，做到层次分明，条理清楚，紧凑合理，形成一个连贯的意义整体。串并就是对数字信息进行加工处理的过程。
例8英语演讲比赛：（1）主题：人与自然；（2）时间：6月15日下午2：00—5：00；（3）地点：501教室；（4）参赛选手：10名学生。
分析：主题为“人与自然”的演讲比赛，在教室501举行，6月15日下午2点开始，5点结束，届时将有10名选手参与角逐。
参考答案：The contest，whose theme is“Man and Nature”，is due to start at 2：00 p.m. on
June 15 and lasts for about three hours in Room 501，when ten students will compete. 龙源期刊网
2.转化
依据简单的换算关系，把数字信息进行同义替换或变通，以此避免短文多处出现数字而显得单调枯燥，使行文富于变化，显得生动活泼。转化就是对数字信息进行艺术化处理的过程。
例9改建后前门大街的简况：长800余米、600多年历史、300余家商铺。
分析：具有600多年历史的前门大街长800余米，沿街林立300余家店铺。“前门大街长800余米”的转化思路：将数字改作定语，后续定语从句“沿街林立300余家店铺”，让数字信息分布合理，避免堆积。
参考答案：The 800-metre-long Qianmen Street，along which stand more than three hundred
shops，is a famous street with a long history of over six hundred years old.
