I have to pick up my wife from the airport this evening, but

W: Oh, really? What happened?
M: Well, I had some of the guys over Friday night to watch
a basketball game on TV, but one of them got all excited, and
started going around, waving his arms, and he accidentally
knocked over my wife’s 250-year old porcelain vase given to
her by her grandmother, and broke it beyond repair.
W: Man, have you tried…
M: Super glue? Yup, but she would be able to tell in a second.
W: Oh, wow. You’re in hot water now.
M: If it had been only that.
W: Oh, there’s more?
M: Yeah, you see, the water from the vase spilled all over
the manuscript of a book my wife has been writing for the past
two years. It blurred the ink over many of the pages. And so
one of the guys had the bright idea of drying the pages by the
fire while we watched, uh, the rest of the game, but a spark
from the fire must have blown out and burned the manuscript to
a crisp.
W: But what about an electronic file copy? She had one,
didn’t she?
M: Well, actually, her computer crashed the day before

able to get it to work since.
W: Man, you are in trouble now. You’re going to have a hard

A piece of history has been found thanks to a boy tripping
on a rare, 1.2-million-year-old animal fossil. In November 2021,
Jude Sparks, now 10, was on an outing with his family near their
New Mexico home, when he tripped over what he thought was a cow

preserving this discovery, which was identified as an ancient
elephant-like animal. Kyle Sparks, father of Jude, said he let
his son decide what to do with the fossil. So Jude reached out
to Peter Houde, a professor at New Mexico State University who
had experience with the same type of fossil in the past. The
next day, Houde came out to see the fossil for himself. Houde
told ABC News that he was quite excited about the find. It was

All parents know it is difficult to get children to eat
their vegetables. Some of them offer rewards or treats for
children finishing their share. But researchers have
discovered that youngsters who are not praised for trying
vegetables are more likely to eat them eventually. The study
found that the best way to get children to eat food they do not
like is simply to give them repeated exposure to it.
Psychologists from Ghent University in Belgium studied 98
children. They gave them five kinds of vegetables to
eat-mushrooms, peas, eggplants, carrots and cabbages. The
taste tests revealed that carrots were the least-liked
vegetable among youngsters. The children were then given a bowl
of boiled carrots and told to choose how much to eat. After 8
minutes, they were asked to rate the dish as “delicious,” “just
