Some people enjoy change, and they look forward to new experiences. Others like their lives to stay the same, and they do not change their usual habits.Compare these two approaches to life. Which approach do you prefer? Explain why. Some people like to live in the same house, have the same job and habits all their lives. However, others aspire to changes and new experience. Personally, for the several reasons, which I will explain bellow, I prefer the first approach to life.First of all, changes in one's life bring many benefits. One tries new things, gains new knowledge and experience. I think it is great because without changes life bees boring.I always try to make changes in my life. Moreover, when I feel that my life is boring I do not feel well about it. I feel like I spent those days for nothing. I did not do anything exiting, I learnt nothing interesting and I just waisted my time.Second of all, people need changes. Furthermore, weneed obstacles to overe and reach our goals. I believe that changes make us stronger, more persistent, more self-confident, and more patient. Also, I feel that all people who sueeded in life like changes and new experience because it is impossible to be the best at some field without perfecting the present knowledge and gain new experience. People catch every opportunity to learn more and change their life for the best. From the other side, people who like their lives to stay the same are very permanent. They have the same joball their life, the same habits, the same week-ends and even the same years in years out. I think it is boring. What will they tell their children about their lives? What kind of contribution will they make for the society? Ithink such people are just afraid of changes.I think curiosity and aspiration to the new experience are two of the main reasons of human evolution. People always wanted to break limits and gain more knowledge and experience. So, people who enjoy change are the engine of human development.

Many children suffer because they do not get as much attention from their parents as children did in the past.Do you agree or disagree?Model Answer:People who argue that nowadays parents give less attention to their children than in the past are frequently looking back to a brief period of time in the twentieth century when mothers in middle-class families remained at home to look after their children. What these people are suggesting is that women nowadays should not go out to work. The fact of the matter is that in the majority of families in the past both parents worked much longer hours than they do nowadays. What has changed is that now in most countries their children attend school rather than also working themselves. In that sense they may have less contact with their parents.Nowadays, as a result of acquiring an education, children come into contact with teachers who naturally have to explain why some of their students are failing. What teachers come up with are frequent stories of parents who are simply too busy for their children. And if children are not supervised by their parents, they will often underperform at school. However, academic failure is nothing new even when one or both parents are athome. If children are neglected by their parents, they will suffer. In my opinion, children probably suffered more in the past when the whole family was obliged to work long hours just to survive. Nowadays children are protected by the law. Moreover access to education means that they have greater opportunities than ever before. 【2】In some countries young people have little leisure time and are under a lot of pressure to work hard in their studies. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?Model Answer:Some young people find themselves with very little leisure time. I believe there are two main causes of this situation. The first is parental pressure and the second is competition for university places.Every parent wants to see his or her child do well in school and go on to have a successful career. This means that they exert pressure on their children to spend hours each day studying at home. Some even arrange extra tuition for their children. In my own country, it is not uncommon for young people to spend another three hours at small private schools after their usual day at stale school is over. As a consequence, their leisure time is extremely limited and the pressure on them is considerable. The second cause is related to the higher education system. Each year, there are many times more applicants to university than there are university places. The result of this is that only those students with very high grades manage to obtain a place. This contributes to the pressure on teenagers since they must work long hours to have any chance of success. One solution to the problem is for parents to be made aware of the effects of the pressure they put on their children. Schools should inform parents that too much pressure can lead to anxiety, stress and depression. They should be shown ways in which they can help their children lead more balanced lives with a reasonable amount of leisure time.Another effective measure would be for the government to invest in the creation of more university places. This could be done by expanding existing universities or by building new ones. This would have the effect of easing competition for places giving teenagers some of their precious free lime back. 【3】Some people think that it is important to have a single language as an international official language. Others think that it will make it difficult to identify countries and cause a loss of culture. What are your opinions on this?Model Answer:With the advent of globalization, a common language to facilitate trade and communication seems inevitable. Some oppose the development of a single language on the grounds that it may lead to cultural erosion and a loss of local linguistic knowledge. Yet, I am of the opinion that it is possible to use an official internation al language and still retain one’s own language and culture.Firstly, many countries already use an official language or languages. For example, in India there are two official languages: Hindi and English. In a country such as India where there are innumerable languages spoken, there is a need for official languages to ensure communication between different sectionsof the population and the different states. In China, where different dialects are spoken, Mandarin, the official language, enables people from different provinces to comprehend each other.Secondly, in an age of rampant globalization there is no doubt that an international language is inevitability. How is an African businessman going to conduct business in China when there are such differences between languages? In this sense, not only is an international language inevitable, but also a necessity for trade, commerce and economic expansion in the 21st century. The critics opposing the adoption of an international official language argue that it would lead to a loss of cultural identity. However, the use of an international official language doesn’t mean that local languages will die out. For example, English already functions as a kind of unofficial international language but this doesn’t mean th at people solely converse in English or they neglect their own language. English is used in specific contexts (trade, business, etc) and native languages are used for everyday instruction. In brief, as the world becomes smaller the need for an official international language seems unavoidable. English has already assumed this role although its status is unofficial. In my view, the use of either an official or unofficial international language is necessary to facilitate communication in a time of rapid globalization.

More men and women decide to have children later in life. why is it happening ? what influences does it have on society and family life ?cause and consequences It seems to be an increasingly widespread concern that young citizens like to have their babies later in their life. The internet and ken, I think, should be responsible for this phenomenon. Intense rivalryUnlike baby boomers and X generation, who gave birth to their children at an earlier age, the Millennials are inclined to put off having babies.Baby boomers 1946-1965X generation 1965-1975Y generation/Millennials 1980-20003Paradoxically,Appalling =suprisingCompromiseConflictsIn the past, it was not un common to see a couple of young people have their first kid in their early 20s. T his is no longer the case. Nowadays, both men and women have to work to cover increasing costs of living. Moreover, due to globalization and booming population, modern people have to compete with qualified job applications/applicants. So, this intense social rivalry is one of the root causes of why young couples are less likely to have children in their early age.Another important factor contributing to this phenomenon is the advanced technology. For example, smart phones and the internet help people finish their jobs efficiently on one hand, but on the other hand they are totally obsessed with their phones. Too much di stractio ns occupie these young lovers’energy and therefore they are less willing to give brith at their young age.Of course, this issue is bringing some negative effects to both family life and society. Companies who main busiess focused on providing products and services to infants and toddlers will have less revenue and eventually bankcrupt, if this phenomenon/trend continues. Also, it can be seen that one day, the society is lack of workforce, which will influence the development of a country. Even more appalling, this trend will accelerate the development of aging population.。

The best way for the government to solve traffic congestion is to provide free public transport 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Do you agree or disagree? 1:When it comes to the issue about how to tackle traffic congestions, some people may argue that the best solution is to offer citizens free public transport all the time, but personally speaking, I cannot approve of this opinion.Admittedly, free transportation could function to reduce traffic congestions because people would decrease the use of private cars. With the purpose of saving money, more passengers prefer to choose public transport rather than drive their own cars. Then, even during the commuting time, the number of private cars may drop significantly, and there will be less traffic congestion. Nevertheless, there exist more drawbacks than benefits acquired from free transportation. To begin with, the government may face more economic burdens if public transportation is free. The government has the responsibility of optimizing resources it has to improve the life quality of its citizens. Providing that the government allocates too much money to public traffic, other parts of services, such as pension for the elderly and the disabled, may not be well supported. Thus, in order to balance the use of funding of the government, public transport should not be free.Furthermore, providing free public transport all the time could lead to a waste of resources. It is commonly acknowledged that traffic congestions usually occur during the commuting time and it may be a more efficient method to provide zero-fare transport in some specific periods, such as between 7 am to 8 am in the morning. Apart from the commuting time, free public transport does not make sense because there is no congestion at all.In sum, providing free public transport all the time may not be the best method to tackle traffic congestions, considering that there is no need to provide free transport when there is no congestion and the government may face financial deficit as well. 2:An effective way for the government to ease traffic congestion is to encourage the public to take more public transport, but I do question the feasibility of offering it free 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.Theoretically, providing 24 / 7 free public transport could produce some desirable outcomes. More people would choose to take the subway or the bus and there might be less dependence on private vehicles. Also, it could make it especially easier to those financially disadvantaged people. However, the validity of the policy need to be challenged. Most countries are operating public transport system as a public service with governmental subsidy, and therefore free public transport would be financially impossible. Besides, the efficiency of the system could suffer in early mornings and at late nights for very few people would actually use public transport, which is a great waste of public funds. To solve traffic gridlock, reasonable support for the publictransport system is needed. But instead of making it 24 / 7 free of charge, the availability of convenient and reliable transport options could be promoted and people need to be able to afford them. In addition, certain restrictions should be put on unnecessary car use,for instance short journeys within already congested areas.More importantly, the government need to implement reasonable city road plan, because a big proportion of traffic jams are caused by inappropriate road construction. To conclude 24 / 7 free public transport is far from a valid solution to resolve traffic congestion in the long run, thus other alternative strategies need to be considered.【雅思社会类作文真题范文:交通堵塞】。

Topic 1: Increasing travels between countries enable people to learn different cultures or to increase tension between people from different countries? (The length of stay depends on the cooperation of the host society.);很多当地人因此表现得非常好客和友好,这有助于文化的交流(Many local people are very friendly and hospitable, which promote the cultural communications.);•对其他的文化和人民更为了解(a better understanding of other cultures and other peoples),改变人们对其他民族和文化的态度(alter one's attitudes towards another people or culture);人们因此可以接受不同的文化和价值观(embrace different values and cultures),可以和平共处(create motivation to coexist peacefully), 并促进对"多元文化的理解(promote multi-cultural understanding);•促进文化的融合(promote integration),消除文化障碍(remove cultural barriers), 外来人口的增加导致冲突:•违反当地的习俗会激怒当地人(breach of local customs can irritate the locals);•不同文化的人看待同一事物总有不同的角度(harbour different perceptions),并给予不同的解释(different interpretations),比如对手势、衣服、言行举止有不同的理解;举止不当会引起当地人意想不到的反应(provoke unanticipated responses); •外国游客增多会对当地环境造成压力,甚至破坏环境,而移民增多可能导致工作机会减少,致使竞争更加激烈,这些都有可能引起当地人的反感(cause resentment in local communities).Globalization is a catch-all term that refers to any activity that involves more than one country, for example, travel from one country to another. The dramatic increase in transnational travel in recent years has sparked controversy over the potential impacts of this trend on individual countriesf especially those new member states of globalization. Some people are concerned that the upsurge in new arrivals will prompt local hostility against visitors instead of promoting their understanding on mutual cultural background. This notion should be rejected as one can see many facts in favor of this development between countries. The first reason why international travels would never bring conflict is rooted in the fact that both visitors and locals are economically motivated. International travel opens up opportunities for business development throughout the world. Entrepreneurs are interested not only in the domestic market but also in the oversea market. Foreigners should learn the culture of a country before winning over the local people. In turn, locals should show their hospitality to visitors in exchange for their trust. They share a view that acceptance of each other's cultural background is a necessary condition for cooperation.Understanding a culture has other implications. Differences in social background, cultural values and religious belief might make the discrepancy of foreigners and local inhabitants on some issues indelible; however, the higher interaction, the higher level of communication and understanding. Arabians, for example, used to consider westerners as their foes. Now they have concrete relations with their western allies in many fields. In the initial stage, their divergence seemedinherent but over time, with better mutual understanding, they take the same position on many issues.Undeniably, it is likely that in some resorts, foreign visitors repel the local community with their scant regard for the local environment and conventions when they first arrive. However, it should be noted that most offense is accidental, rather than intentional. Instead, visitors disobey rules and conventions simply because they have no knowledge of them. This situation is expected to be improved with the passing of time when visitors from different countries increase their knowledge of a local culture.According to the above analysis, we can observe that the increase in the international travel should not be taken as the cause of any conflict that arises between two countries. Alternatively, one should recognize its role in improving mutual understanding between two countries.1. catch-all = all-embracing:包罗甚广的;包括一切的2. hostility=enmity=resentment:敌意,怨'恨,愤恨3. rooted in=derived from=based on:基于4. entrepreneur=tycoon=mogul=industrialist:企业家,实业家5. discrepancy=disagreement=difference=divergence:分歧,矛盾6. foe=enemy=rival:敌人,竟争对手7. concrete=tangible=solid:具体的,实际的8. overtime=in due course=sooner or later:最终,早9. resort:胜地;tourist resort:旅游胜地;holiday resort:度假胜地;beach resort:海边度假胜地;scenic spot:景观;place of interest: 旅游景点10. repel=revolt=repulse:使厌恶,憎恶11. scant=limited=scarce:缺乏的,不足的Topic2: When international media (including movies, fashion shows, advertisements and other TV programs) convey the same messages to the global audience, people argue that the expansion of international media has negative impacts on cultural diversity. 雅思英文作文范文10篇

雅思英文作文范文1. 教育话题题目:Some people believe that schools should primarily teach students how to become good citizens, while others believe that the main purpose of schools is to prepare students for the workforce. Discuss both views and give your opinion. In today's rapidly changing world, the role of schools is a subject of debate. Some argue that schools should focus on teaching students how to become responsible citizens, while others emphasize the importance of preparing students for the workforce.Proponents of the first view argue that schools play a crucial role in shaping responsible citizens. They believe that schools should instill values such as empathy, tolerance, and civic engagement. By prioritizing citizenship education, schools can contribute to the development of individuals who are not only skilled in their professions but also actively participate in their communities. On the other hand, advocates for the workforce preparation perspective argue that schools must equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for their future careers. In today's competitive job market, practical skills and qualifications are essential for success. Therefore, schools should prioritize subjects that are directly relevant to the workforce. In my opinion, a balanced approach is necessary. Schools should strive to achieve both goals. By providing a well-rounded education that includes citizenship education and workforce preparation, schools can produce well-rounded individuals who are not only skilled professionals but also responsible citizens.2. Some people believe that the government should be responsible for providing healthcare for all citizens, while others think that individuals should take responsibility for their healthcare. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The issue of healthcare provision is a topic of ongoing debate. Some argue that the government should be responsible for providing healthcare to all citizens, while others believe that individuals should take responsibility for their healthcare.Supporters of government-funded healthcare argue that it is a fundamental right for all citizens to have access to healthcare services. They contend that a public healthcare system ensures that everyone, regardless of their financial status, can receive medical treatment when needed. This, they argue, promotes equality and social well-being.On the other hand, proponents of individual responsibility for healthcare argue that personal health choices, such as diet and exercise, play a significant role in one's well-being. They believe that individuals should take proactive measures to maintain their health and seek private healthcare options when necessary. This approach, they argue, encourages personal accountability. In my view, a combination of both approaches is ideal. Government-funded healthcare can provide a safety net for those who cannot afford private healthcare, ensuring that basic medical services are accessible to all. However, individuals should also be encouraged to take responsibility for their health through healthy lifestyle choices and preventative measures.3. Environmental problems are too big for individual countries and individual persons to address. In today's world, we should focus more on international cooperation. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Environmental issues, such as climate change and pollution, have global implications that extend beyond the borders of individual countries. Some argue that addressing these problems requires a greater emphasis on international cooperation rather than relying solely on individual countries and individuals.I strongly agree with the view that international cooperation is essential to effectively tackle environmental problems. Climate change, for example, is a global issue that requires collective action from nations worldwide. The impact of greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and other environmental challenges transcends national boundaries, making it impossible for any single country to address them in isolation.International cooperation can lead to the development of comprehensive strategies and agreements aimed at mitigating environmental problems. The Paris Agreement, for instance, is a testament to the power of global collaboration in addressing climate change. Moreover, international cooperation fosters knowledge sharing and technological advancements. Countries can learn from each other's successes and failures in addressing environmental issues, leading to more effective solutions. In conclusion, the scale and complexity of environmental problems demand international cooperation. While individual countries and individuals have a role to play, it is only through collective global efforts that we can hope to mitigate the impact of these challenges and protect the planet for future generations.4. Some people argue that advances in technology have made our lives more stressful, while others believe that technology has made our lives easier and more convenient. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The impact of technology on our lives is a subject of debate. Some argue that advances in technology have increased stress levels, while others believe that technology has made our lives easier and more convenient.Supporters of the view that technology has increased stress levels point to several factors. They argue that the constant connectivity provided by smartphones and the internet has blurred the boundaries between work and personal life, leading to increased stress. Additionally, the rapid pace of technological change can create anxiety as individuals struggle to keep up with the latest developments. On the other hand, proponents of technology's role in making our lives easier highlight its numerous benefits. They argue that technology has improved communication, access to information, and efficiency in various aspects of life. Tasks that were once time-consuming are now simplified through automation and digital tools. In my opinion, technology has the potential to both increase stress and enhance convenience, depending on how it is used. It is essential forindividuals to strike a balance between leveraging technology for its benefits while also managing its potential negative impacts on stress. Responsible and mindful use of technology can lead to a more convenient and less stressful life.5. Some people believe that social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have a positive impact on society, while others argue that they have a negative influence. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The influence of social media platforms on society is a topic of ongoing debate. Some argue that these platforms have a positive impact, while others contend that they have a negative influence.Supporters of the positive impact of social media argue that these platforms facilitate communication and connectivity among individuals worldwide. They provide a space for people to share information, connect with friends and family, and raise awareness about important social issues. Social media has played a crucial role in organizing movements and campaigns for social change. However, critics argue that social media can have a negative influence on society. They point to issues such as cyberbullying, the spread of misinformation, and the negative impact on mental health. Theaddictive nature of social media and the potential for echo chambers where individuals are exposed only to like-minded opinions are also concerns. In my opinion, social media platforms have the potential for both positive and negative impacts, depending on how they are used. It is essential for individuals to use these platforms responsibly, critically evaluate the information they encounter, and be mindful of their online interactions. When used thoughtfully, social media can be a powerful tool for positive social change and connectivity.6. Some people believe that the government should regulate the fast-food industry to prevent health problems, while others think this is the responsibility of individuals. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The regulation of the fast-food industry is a topic of debate. Some argue that the government should intervene to prevent health problems, while others believe that individuals should take responsibility for their dietary choices.Proponents of government regulation contend that the fast-food industry has a significant role in contributing to health problems such as obesity and heart disease. They argue that stricter regulations, such aslimiting advertising to children or mandating clearer nutritional information, can help consumers make informed choices and ultimately lead to better public health outcomes. On the other hand, advocates for individual responsibility argue that adults should have the freedom to make their own dietary choices. They believe that educating individuals about nutrition and encouraging healthier eating habits should be the primary focus, rather than imposing government regulations. In my view, a balanced approach is necessary. While individuals should have the freedom to make their own choices, the fast-food industry does have a responsibility to provide clear and accurate information about the nutritional content of their products. Government regulations can help ensure transparency and protect consumers, especially in cases involving children's advertising.7. Some people believe that the best way to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Addressing environmental problems, particularly related to carbon emissions and air pollution, is a critical concern. Some argue that raisingthe cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles is an effective way to incentivize environmentally friendly behavior.I strongly agree with the view that increasing the cost of fuel can be an effective strategy to combat environmental problems. Higher fuel prices encourage individuals to use public transportation, carpool, or consider alternative transportation options such as electric or hybrid vehicles. This, in turn, reduces the carbon footprint and air pollution associated with traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.Furthermore, the additional revenue generated from higher fuel prices can be reinvested in the development of cleaner and more sustainable transportation infrastructure, such as improved public transit systems and bike lanes. In conclusion, increasing the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles can serve as a powerful incentive for individuals to adopt more environmentally friendly transportation choices. This measure not only addresses environmental problems but also promotes sustainable and responsible behavior.8. Some people argue that the widespread use of smartphones and social media has led to a decline in face-to-face social interactions. Do you agree or disagree? The impact of smartphones and social media on face-to-face social interactions is a matter of ongoing debate. Some argue that these technologies have led to a decline in such interactions, while others disagree.I agree with the view that the widespread use of smartphones and social media has, to some extent, led to a decline in face-to-face social interactions. Many people are now more engaged in their digital lives, constantly checking their phones for messages, updates, and social media notifications. This can reduce the quality and quantity of in-person interactions. Moreover, the convenience of virtual communication can lead to a preference for online interactions over face-to-face conversations. People may choose to communicate via text or social media rather than meeting in person, which can contribute to a decline in direct human contact. However, it's essential to recognize that technology's impact on social interactions is complex and multifaceted. While there are challenges associated with smartphone use, these devices also enable connections with people across long distances and can enhance social interactions in various ways. The key is to strike a balance between digital and in-person communication to maintain healthy social relationships.9. Some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year, while others believe that students should have several short vacations throughout the year. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The structure of school vacations is a topic of discussion. Some argue that students should have one long vacation each year, while others believe that several short vacations throughout the year are more beneficial.Proponents of one long vacation argue that it provides students with an extended period for relaxation and the opportunity to engage in meaningful activities, such as travel or internships. They contend that a lengthy break allows students to recharge and return to school with renewed enthusiasm. On the other hand, advocates for several short vacations believe that shorter breaks distributed throughout the year help maintain continuity in learning. They argue that students are less likely to experience "summer learning loss" and can better retain knowledge when they have regular breaks for rest and rejuvenation. In my opinion, a combination of both approaches can be beneficial. Having one long vacation each year can provide students with an extended break for exploration and relaxation. However, incorporatingshorter breaks throughout the academic year can help students maintain focus and prevent burnout. The key is to strike a balance that ensures students have ample opportunities for both learning and leisure.10. Some people argue that advancements in automation and artificial intelligence will lead to widespread job loss and unemployment. Do you agree or disagree? The impact of automation and artificial intelligence on employment is a topic of concern and debate. Some argue that these advancements will result in widespread job loss and unemployment, while others disagree.I believe that while automation and AI will indeed reshape the job market, they may not necessarily lead to widespread job loss and unemployment. Automation has the potential to eliminate certain routine and repetitive tasks, but it also creates opportunities for new types of jobs and industries. For example, as automation takes over routine tasks, it frees up human workers to focus on more creative and complex aspects of their jobs. Additionally, the development and maintenance of automation systems and AI technologies require skilled workers, leading to the creation of jobs in those fields. Moreover, automation and AI have the potential to improve productivity and efficiency in various industries, which can lead to economic growth and the creation of new businesses and jobs.In conclusion, while advancements in automation and artificial intelligence will undoubtedly impact the job market, the overall effect may not necessarily be widespread job loss and unemployment. Adaptation, reskilling, and a focus on emerging industries are essential for individuals and economies to thrive in the changing landscape of work.。

In recent years, the issue of environmental protection has become increasingly prominent. With the rapid development of industry and the increasing number of vehicles on the road, the environment has been seriously polluted. As a result, it is essential for us to take action to protect the environment.Firstly, we should raise people's awareness of environmental protection. This can be achieved through education and public awareness campaigns. People need to understand the importance of protecting the environment and the impact of their actions on the planet. In addition, governments should implement strict laws and regulations to control pollution and protect natural resources.Secondly, individuals can also make a difference by adopting environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.
Some people think that it is important to use leisure time for activities that improve the mind, such as reading and doing word puzzles. Other people feel that it is important to rest the mind during leisure time.
Model Answer:
It is generally accepted that we all need leisure time to recover from the stresses of work and everyday life.
Personally, I prefer to be active during this time, as I think this suits me better. However, what we do with our leisure time is up to us and no one can say that any particular activity is the best.
Some people relax by watching movies, reading or surfing the internet. People who have physically demanding jobs may choose these types of activities. If you are a nurse or builder, you may feel that you don't want to do a five-kilometre run after work, because you are already physically tired.
Other people do very sedentary jobs. Computer analysts, for example, may spend all day sitting in front of a computer screen. At the end of the working day, they may be keen to stretch their limbs and improve their health by swimming or going to the gym.
Another factor that influences our choice of leisure pursuit is where we work. People who work indoors often prefer outdoor hobbies, whereas for people who work outdoors, the reverse may be true. I am a student myself and this involves a lot of sitting in lectures, so I need to get out into the fresh air afterwards.
In any situation, the important thing is that people need to stay healthy by choosing what is best for them. The only wrong way to spend free time, in my view, is to have a sedentary job and then go home and watch television.。
