Globalization and western culture have made a great "cultural assault(文化冲击) " to the traditional Chinese thinking and culture. There is a growing pursuit of material culture and consumer culture and neglect of the spirit of traditional culture.
What should we do？

英语教学中的文化意识与文化教育语言是文化的载体，是社会文化的物质外壳，它受文化的制约，随着文化的变迁而发生变化。
不同民族的语言文化有其共性和特性，因此语言教学应该包括文化教育。
外语教学实为一种跨文化交际，文化知识和文化适应能力是交际能力的重要组成部分，因此文化在语言学习中起着重要的作用。
这也就要求教师必须将语言教学与文化教学有机地结合起来，培养学生从跨文化交际的角度使用语言的能力。
1语言和文化语言和文化是密不可分的。
语言不仅仅是一套符号系统，人们的言语表现形式更要受语言赖以存在的社会习俗，生活方式，价值观念，思维方式，宗教信仰等因素的制约和影响。
长期以来，在英语教学中语言和文化的这种关系一直未得到足够的重视。
美国的两位社会学家对于外语教学中只教语言不教文化有这样的看法：“我们相信，任何这类企图都会使学生失去兴趣，使他们不仅不想学习语言符号本身，而且也不想了解使用这一符号系统的民族。
相反，帮助学生在学习语言时提高对文化的敏感性，就可以利用他们发自内心的想了解其他民族的兴趣和动力……，从而提供了学习该民族语言的基础”2中西文化的偶合与差异由于人类生活在同一个地球上，在与大自然作斗争的过程中会有相同或类似的生活体验和经历。
这种共同的经历使得即使十分不同的两种语言也会有一些大体对应的说法，如：walk on the ice如履薄冰，in the same boat同舟共济，think twice before you act三思而后行等等，这样的偶合现象不胜枚举。
但是不同的民族所处的地理环境和历史环境不同，因而对不同的事物和经历有着不同的编码和分类。
所以中西两种文化的相似只是相对的，而差异则是绝对的。
即使这些大体上偶合的说法在不同的环境中也会有其含义上和用法上的差异。
如：锦上添花，它的含义是“好上加好”，虽不一定必要，但绝无贬义，所以不能译成“paint the lily”，因为在西方文化中本短语的含义是“把百合花弄俗了，矫揉造作”，它与汉语的“画蛇添足”的含义类似。

英语教学中，教师要注重文化知识的传授，培养学生的跨文化意识，同时要充分挖掘教材资源，拓宽学生的文化视野。

英语是一种语言, 脱离了一定的文化背景和环境，就难以恰当地表述，难以发挥其进行交际活动的实质作用。
英语教学应从学生的实际需要出发，进行跨文化意识教学，让学生们沉浸在英语氛围中，适度地创设英语学习的氛围，营造宽松、和谐、融洽的师生关系。
同时要注重文化知识的传授，拓宽学生的文化视野。
从课堂教学和课外教学两方面进行人文关怀教育，多形式、多角度、多层面地寓教于生活，运用于生，让学生轻松愉快地学英语，这样才能真正提高学生的英语水平。
一、进行跨文化意识教学，注重文化知识的传授在英语教学中，教师应在传授语言的同时同步传授文化知识。
文化知识加深了学生对语言的了解，语言则因赋予了文化内涵而更易于理解和掌握。
语言教学和文化教学可以在传授语音、词汇、语法等语言知识时同步进行。
在英语教学中，将日常生活交往中的中西文化差异进行总结归纳，这对学生进行跨文化交际能力的提高能起到积极的促进作用。
如可以将中国人与英语国家人士初交时谈话的禁忌归纳为四个词：I，WARM, where，meal，其中I代表income；第二个词中W代表 weight，A代表age，R代表religion， M代表marriage。
由此而引出“七不问”：不问对方收入，不问体重，不问年龄，不问宗教信仰，不问婚姻状况，不问“去哪儿”，不问“吃了吗”。
这样可使学生对与英语国家人士交谈的禁忌有更清楚的了解。
在英语教学中，让学生同时接触和了解英语国家的文化，有益于学生在用英语进行交际时加强对英语的理解和使用。
交际能力的四个重要参数为合语法性、适合性、得体性和实际操作性，其中适合性和得体性的实质就是语言使用者的社会文化能力。
