APoetry, one of the essential art forms of literature(文学),is a brief and easy way to express our feelings. Moreover, everyone understands it in their own way. Some find relief in poems; some read them simply for peace; some read poems for simple artistic pleasure. There are some special features of poetry, which make it quite different from other forms of literature. First of all, poems have rhythmic patterns. Generally most parts of a poem follow the same form of rhythm. Poems may have rhyme, but they don't have to. The lines are neatly arranged together so that they express a particular feeling or emotion. There can be various types of poems but according to the pattern or the form, there are mainly three types:匕丫1记5(抒情诗):The lyric mainly concentrates on human thoughts and emotions rather than a story. Lyrics always bear song-like appeal. These are mainly short poems. Popular lyric poem forms are the elegy, the ode and the sonnet. William Shakespeare, Edmund Waller and Keats are some of the greatest lyric writers of all times.Narrative poems(叙事诗):This type of poetry tells a story. Narrative poems are usually long poems. Epics(史诗)and ballads fall under this type. Some of the greatest epic poets are John Milton, Dante, Edgar Allan Poe, Alexander Pope, William Shakespeare, etc.Dramatic poems(戏剧诗):Any drama that is written in verse is a dramatic poem. These poems generally tell a story. Black verse, dramatic monologue(独白)and closet drama belong to this type. William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe and Ben Jonson are some of the greatest dramatic poets.Whatever the form is, one thing, which cannot be denied, is that poetry is one of the most powerful tools to express our feelings.1.What do we know about lyrics?①They are similar to songs.②They usually tell stories.③They are not very long.④The sonnet is a type of lyrics.A.①②③B.②③④C.①②④D.①③④2.We can know from the text that.A.poems are weak in showing feelingsB.some poets write more than one type of poem 普宁一中2019-2020学年度高二第二学期第一次月考英语试题1C.narrative poems are shorter than lyric poemsD.the sonnet and the ballad belong to the same type3.This passage is written mainly to .A.tell us some simple facts about poetryB.teach us how to write poemsC.give some advice on reading poemsD.make us interested in poems【语篇解读】这是一篇说明文。

They also want a career that will enable them to bring out their skills and use their potentials so that they can experience a sense of fulfillment and pride that come from achievements and success. Some careers that have been traditionally dominated(支配)by the male species have been made open and filled up by women as well. It is no longer a surprising occurrence today to see many women working as pilots, astronauts, engineers, in construction sites, and in the printing business that operates high-tech machines. Many women are also taking their chances on managerial and executive positions that mostly men are the ones sitting on. Many of them also do well in the line of education as teachers, deans and even presidents of universities. You can also see many women as lecturers and reviewers of different businesses. One example is that of the online printing company reviews where women usually have a say on what is the best choice for online printers for any marketing needs. From the income that women are getting from their work, they are able to maintain a family and able to provide a better education for their children and able to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle. However, there are still pronounced biases (偏见) against women in high leadership positions. There still exists the so-called gender-role stereotyping. Women need help to cope with and manage the typical stereotyping of women workers and managers. Those who look for jobs advertised in the classified sections of the newspaper often discover that many corporate positions are closed to women. And most often than not, many give preference to men by indicating in their ads phrases such as “male preferred” or “male applicants only”. Even in some family run or owned corporations, seldom can you see women managers and presidents.Surveys show that although a man and a woman have the same level or handle the same position in an organization, the man would get a higher or bigger compensation package(薪酬) compared to women. Because of this, many women are just contented,to be in subordinate positions in finance, human resources, sales, manufacturing and other supportive roles. There are still other barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potentials in the world of employment. Our culture does not encourage women to excel in government and in business-related jobs. Women who are able to make it on top and handle leadership roles are sometimes regarded merely as tokens. The abilities and skills of women are normally questioned by their own peers, and sadly even by other women. If you are a woman who have the interest, ability and drive to pursue management careers, career counseling is of great help to help you find direction and increase motivation to pursue your career goals. It will help you have the self-confidence to get you in the same career opportunities open to men in this society that still prefers men for top level positions.【1】From the first paragraph we know that women________.A.work mainly to help meet the rising costs of livingB.want to provide their children with better educationC.also want to take some more challenging jobsD.have taken up some work that men can do well【2】It can be inferred that in the past it was surprising to see women________.A.taking jobs outside homeB.working as pilots or astronautsC.educating their children at homeD.operating machines at home【3】The underlined word “subordinate” in the 5th paragraph has a similar meaning to“________”.A.higher B.lowerC.more rewarding D.less demanding【4】What's the best title for the passage?A.Women working out of housesB.Women fighting against biasesC.Women getting larger incomeD.Women aiming high in careers全国高三高中英语专题试卷答案及解析一、单项选择1.—It's a pity that Andrew didn't want to go to the conference.—________ willing to go,we could have paid all his expenses.A.Had he been B.BeingC.Was he D.He had been【答案】A【解析】考查虚拟语气与倒装。

We were going to raise our children, travel the world, and grow oldtogether.I’m only 37,a typical housewife.I don’t know if I can do all this alone---two children,no father. What do I do or say?The faces of so many people confuse me as they come to pay their last respects. Some have real sorrow;I can see it in their eyes. The others seem to just say,“I told you so.”1110se famous last words:I—told—you一so.How I can’t stand them. And the pointing fingers as so-called family and so-called friends pick me out of the crowd for others to see.1 want to scream and wake up but I can’t do anything but sit there. How can they be so blind? I fell in love with a man.Love knows no boundaries. He was a good man, hardworking, caring and kind.He was retired form the Navy and agentleman. He was sensitive to others’needs, the kind of man that knew what to do or say,how to humor any situation and calm everyone’s fears.I remember our first child was a big surprise to both of us.I remember when I told him the news.He fell off his chair, saying over and over indisbelief.“But I'm almost sixty.” After a few months he started planning.our next and even doing his famous little dance whenever he discussed the idea.A man, thirty years older than I,lies in a coffin.Flowers, the American flag and his VFWcomrades surround him, paying tribute(颂词)to him as the man he really was.And I sit alonehere, with our two children,in silence, praying that this cold morning at churchis only a nightmare and 1 will awake to his loving arms again. Our son,our first born, his joy and pride, sits to the right of me seeming just as confused as me I look over at him.How he looks like his father--blonde hair, tall and skinny——even his Irishtemperament(气质)and that naughty look in his eyes。
