The movie 《War horse》 was directed by Steven Spielberg .It told that In 1914, the boy Albert (Jeremy Irvine acts the role ) saw the birth of the young horse in Devon town. in the market, it was bought by Albert’s father ted (Peter Mullan acts the role ) with the 30 kenites , but his father makes the landlord angry by competing with him. Albert is very happy and give the little horse a name called Joey. However the landlord came to his home and said if Joey can't plow their fields. he will immediately take away the Joey and their fields.
His father lost in the despair. But at that time, the first world war was broken out. His father sold horse to the horse cavalry army, change 30 kenites. Albert was very sad but the only thing he can do is watching and pray for his horse.
I appreciate this movie very much. Obviously, it represents the director’s dislike to the war. He explain this emotion by showing different people’s experience in the war! Captain Nichols represent these brave people who died for their country. And he also is a very kind warm and honest person. His death shows how cruel the war is and impress people’s dislike to the war!
But captain Nichols died in the attack. So Joey was luck, He wasn’t be killed in the fighting. And he met his second master.
At that time, Albert join the army. But he got injured. Fortunately, he found Joey at the hospital. Although he can’t see it. But he recognized Joey immediately. After the ending of the war, Albert return to his hometown with Joey. And when he ride Joey back to home, his parents burst into tears. And they hug together under the sunset. And Joey watch this scene quietly.
The war has taken everything from everyone! This is the most classic sentences in the movie. I still remember the scene that when Joey was trapped in barbed wire, each of the side a soldier get out of the trench at the risk of his life to help Joey. At that moment, war suddenly become meaningless in front of the dignity of life. And the best thing is that the German to shouted to fellow soldiers behind him, "I need a pair of scissors. Then German throw several scissors to him from the trenches.
The relationship between French farmer and his granddaughter is not so good. Farmer just want to protect his granddaughter and hope she always be happy! But the granddaughter doesn’t understand her grandfather. She thought her grandfather is a weak and dishonest person. But after the founding of the horses, the relationship changed. And the movie also show the pure friendship between soldiers in the battlefields. We can see a scene that two soldiers from two side stand together to help Joey get away from the trap. I think that scene no way but forces joey to plow their fields under the persecution. And Albert even used the whip to let joey to plow their fields.Finally joey really grasped the Albert's difficulties and show its unexpected potential at the first time. In order to pay his debts, Albert’s father worked very hard! And not much later, they earn the harvest, but the heavy rain ruined everything.
