Unit2 “三年模拟”精编精练一、阅读理解A(2017江西师大附中月考)The Netherlands on Monday introduced its first- ever intelligent bicycle, fitted with electronic devices to help handlebarbring down the high accident rate among elderly cyclists in the bicycle-mad country.Developed for the government by the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), the intelligent bicycle runs on electricity. It is expected to be on the market in the next two years and should sell for between 1,700 to 3,200 euros per bicycle. The devices on the bicycle are linked through an on-board computer with a vibrating (振动的)warning system fitted in the bicycle’s saddle and handlebars to warn cyclists of the coming danger. The saddle vibrates when other cyclists come nearer from behind, while, the handlebars do the same when barriers(障碍物)appear ahead."Accidents often happen when cyclists look behind them or get a fright when they ride at high speed," said Maurice Kwakkernaat, one of TNO, s research scientists. "The on-board system technology has already been at work in the car industry," he said."More and more elderly people are using a bicycle, not only for short distances, but also for longer distances," Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and EnvironmentMelanie Schultz van Haegen told AFP. "This type of bicycle is truly needed in the Netherlands because it will help us bring down the number of elderly people who are injured every year and allow them to continue to enjoy cycling," she said.In the Netherlands, bicycles outnumber (比……多)the population of 17 million by at least one million and there are some 25, 000 km of bicycle path in the country. Those numbers will surely grow as more and more people take two-wheeled transport, leading to an increased risk of injury.Last year, 184 cyclists died in the country, of which 124, or 67 %, were older than 65, according to the Central Statistics Office. The year before, 200 cyclists died, the majority of victims also being elderly. The model now weighs 25 kilograms but researchers are working on making the on-board systems smaller.1. The intelligent bicycle is aimed to ________A. protect the environmentB. help decrease traffic pressureC. popularize the use of bicyclesD. improve safety for elderly cyclists2. Which part of the intelligent bicycle will vibrate when another cyclist was suddenly found ahead?A. The handlebars.B. The wheels.C. The saddle.D. The on-board computer.3. We can learn from the passage that ________.A. the elderly ride bicycles wherever they goB. the accident rate among elderly cyclists is highC. the number of elderly cyclists is decreasingD. the elderly are planning to give up cycling4. Which is the best title for the passage?A. The Bicycle StructureB. Elderly CyclistsC. A Smart BicycleD. A Bicycle-mad CountryBThey tell us when to get up or when we’r e running late for work and whether we are in danger of missing our favorite TV program. But while our daily activities rely on clocks that tell us the time, science is discovering that our well-being is influenced by a very different kind of timepiece. Circadian rhythms —the human body’s own internal (体内的)clock —have a powerful influence on our health and behaviour. They are programmed from birth and control functions ranging from temperature and blood pressure to sleep patterns. In recent years researchers have also discovered that this built-in mechanism (机制)can influence everything from the way we react to medicines to how well we learn music. The latest example, from experts at Harvard University in the US, shows that the human body clock can even influence whether or not we are likely to tell the truth. Researchers found it was easier for people to tell lies in the afternoon because, as they were tired, the self-control that would normally prevent them from lying started to break down. Tiredness made it easier for them to tell lies — especially if il meant they got a financial reward at the end."The body clock has a great influence on us all," says Professor Jim Horne from the Sleep Research Centre at Loughborough University. "Most people tend to feel good around late morning and then decline in the early afternoon. But the time most of us will feel sharpest is between 6 pm and 8 pm. That’s because sleepiness tends to build up throughout the day. By early evening our body clock kicks in to wake us up. One reason may be to ensure we get home safely. When our ancestors (祖先)were coming home after hunting all day their internal clocks kicked in to get them home in one piece."So what effects do circadian rhythms have and what’s the best time of day to take advantage of them?5. The underlined word "They" in the first paragraph refers to ________.A. our clocksB. scientists and expertsC. our daily routinesD. circadian rhythms6. The research in Paragraph 3 found that people tend to ________.A. tell lies when they are tiredB. tell lies if they are rewardedC. get angry as they become tiredD. break down because they are tired7. We can better understand this debate if we learn more about the UN and its history. The UN was started for two reasons. First, when the idea was born, people all over the world were tired of war. 2 They also felt that only an international organization could keep world peace.3 These weapons made it almost impossible for a country to defend itself. National borders were beginning to lose their meaning. Science would develop even more dangerous weapons in the future. Only an international organization would be able to control modem science.Franklin D. Roosevelt, U. S. President at the time, believed that the Allies (同盟国) should plan for peace before the war ended. On January 1, 1942, Roosevelt, the UK, s Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin from Soviet Union and T. V. Soong of China agreed to start an organization for world peace. 4During the next year and a half, the idea of such an organization was debated around the world. Then came the big clay. On April 25, 1945, the first internationalmeeting of the United Nations took place in San Francisco. The goal of the meeting was to write the UN Charter (宪章) All of the fifty-one nations at the meeting had their own ideas to offer for the Charter. 5Every nation present voted for the Charter. No one voted against it.A. After a long debate, a final Charter was agreed upon.B. The UN Charter is a beautiful piece of writing.C. They asked all countries, large and small, to join the organization.D. Even the smallest country on earth can have its voice heard.E. They felt that there must be peaceful answers to the world’s problems.F. The second reason was that modem science had developed new bombs and airplanes.G. Some people attack the organization because they think it is too powerful.参考答案:一、阅读理解A【解题导语】文章介绍了一种新型的智能自行车。

Studies show that people who have no friends or who are lonely, are more likely to die earlier, get sick more often and suffer greater physical wear and tear(折磨)than those who have a support system of friends.Sometimes, family members may be more likely to give you advice or tell you what you don’t want to hear. It may not be as good as a friend who wi ll listen to you and guide you, but support your decisions anyway. The most important elements about friendship are those who suffer support and do not judge your decisions based on society. One reason for the link between social support and good health practice seems to be that people who feel cared for by others are less stress-out and are protected against the symptoms(症状)of depression and loneliness.Generally, women benefit most because of how they deal with stress. Women are more social in ho w they deal with stress than men, while men are more likely to have a “fight or flight” reaction. Women also tend to have larger, denser social network, in which more people know each other and help each other, while men typically have smaller groups of friends and will rely on their wives or other important people for more support. While all these affect people psychologically(心理上), friendship brings comfort that reduces the ill effects of stress, and the sex difference also contributes to the difference i n the length of one’s life time.1.In the author’s opinion, a real friend should _________.A.tell you what to do even if you refuse to hear it.B.try to persuade you to change your mind quickly.C.judge your decision according to his/her experience.D.give you advice but respect your own decision.2.Women benefit more from friendship than men because _________.A.women are always cared for by more people than men.B.women are usually less stress-out when staying with others.C.wome n are more likely to solve problems with friends’ helpD.women can always keep more long-life friendship than men3.According to the passage we can infer that _______.A.it’s good for women to tell men what they should do or notB.friends are always more important than family membersC.men don’t want to share their problems with many peopleD.the trend that women can live longer makes them more relaxed4.This passage mainly talks about _________.A.why people should develop friendshipB.when friendship affects people’s healthC.people’s different attitudes towards friendshipD.the friendship which can make people live longerBName: Off the Beaten PathCover price: $30.00Our price: $l9.80The best-selling Reader’s Digest travel book has 40% new content including over 200 new sites, over 200 new full-color photographs, and all-new, up-to-date maps. We may speak contemptuously of the poor old Romans because they relished the orgies of slaughter that went on in their arenas. We may despise them because they mistook these goings on for entertainment. We may forgive them condescendingly because they lived 2000 years ago and obviously knew no better. But are our feelings of superiority really justified? Are we any less blood-thirsty? Why do boxing matches, for instance, attract such universal interest? Don‘t the spectators who attend them hope they will see some violence? Human beings remains as bloodthirsty as ever they were. The only difference between ourselves and the Romans is that while they were honest enough to admit that they enjoyed watching hungey lions tearing people apart and eating them alive, we find all sorts of sophisticated arguments to defend sports which should have been banned long age; sports which are quite as barbarous as, say, public hangings or bearbaiting. It really is incredible that in this day and age we should still allow hunting or bull-fighting, that we should be prepared to sit back and watch two men batter each other to pulp in a boxing ring, that we should be relatively unmoved by the sight of one or a number of racing cars crashing and bursting into flames. Let us not deceive ourselves. Any talk of ‗the sporting spirit‘ is sheer hypocrisy. People take part in violent sports because of the high rewards they bring. Spectators are willing to pay vast sums of money to see violence. A world heavyweight championship match, for instance, is front page news. Millions of people are disappointed if a big fight is over in two rounds instead of fifteen. They feel disappointment because they have been deprived of the exquisite pleasure of witnessing prolonged torture and violence. Why should we ban violent sports if people enjoy them so much? You may well ask. Theanswer is simple: they are uncivilized. For centuries man has been trying to improve himself spiritually and emotionally – admittedly with little success. But at least we no longer tolerate the sight madmen cooped up in cages, or public floggings of any of the countless other barbaric practices which were common in the past. Prisons are no longer the grim forbidding places they used to be. Social welfare systems are in operation in many parts of the world. Big efforts are being made to distribute wealth fairly. These changes have come about not because human beings have suddenly and unaccountably improved, but because positive steps were taken to change the law. The law is the biggest instrument of social change that we have and it may exert great civilizing influence. If we banned dangerous and violent sports, we would be moving one step further to improving mankind. We would recognize that violence is degrading and unworthy of human beings.46. It can be inferred from the passage that the author‘s opinion of nowadays‘ human beings isA. not very high.B. high.C. contemptuous.D. critical.47.The main idea of this passage isA. vicious and dangerous sports should be banned by law.B. people are willing to pay vast sums money to see violence.C. to compare two different attitudes towards dangerous sports.D. people are bloodthirsty in sports.48. That the author mentions the old Romans isA. To compare the old Romans with today‘s people.B. to give an example.C. to show human beings in the past know nothing better.D. to indicate human beings are used to bloodthirsty.49.How many dangerous sports does the author mention in this passage?A. Three.B. Five.C. Six.D. Seven.50.The purpose of the author in writing this passage isA. that, by banning the violent sports, we human beings can improve our selves.B. that, by banning the dangerous sports, we can improve the law.C. that we must take positive steps to improve social welfare system.D. to show law is the main instrument of social change.BAdvertisers Perform a Useful Service to the CommunityAdvertisers tend to think big and perhaps this is why they‘re always coming in for criticism. Their critics seem to resent them because they have a flair for self-promotion and because they have so much money to throw around. ‗It‘s iniquitous,‘ they say, ‗that this entirely unproductive industry (if we can call it that) should absorb millions of pounds each year. It only goes to show how much profit the big companies are making. Why don‘t they stop advertising and reduce the price of their goods? After all, it‘s the consumer who pays…‘w*w*w*k*s*5*u*c*o*mThe poor old consumer! He‘d have to pay a great deal more if advertising didn‘t create mass markets for products. It is precisely because of the heavy advertising that consumer goods are so cheap. But we get the wrong idea if we think the only purpose of advertising is to sell goods. Another equally important function is to inform. A great deal of the knowledge we have about household goods derives largely from the advertisements we read. Advertisements introduce us to new products or remind us of the existence of ones we already know about. Supposing you wanted to buy a washing machine, it is more than likely you would obtain details regarding performance, price, etc., from an advertisement.Lots of people pretend that they never read advertisements, but this claim may be seriously doubted. It is hardly possible not to read advertisements these days. And what fun they often are, too! Just think what a railway station or a newspaper would be like without advertisements. Would you enjoy gazing at a blank wall or reading railway byelaws while waiting for a train? Would you like to read only closely printed columns of news in your daily paper? A cheerful, witty advertisement makes such a difference to a drab wall or a newspaper full of the daily ration of calamities. We must not forget, either, that advertising makes a positive contribution to our pockets. Newspapers, commercial radio and television companies could not subsist without this source of revenue. The fact that we pay so little for our daily paper, or can enjoy so many broadcast programmes is due entirely to the money spent by advertisers. Just think what a newspaper would cost if we had to pay its full price!Another thing we mustn‘t forget is the ‗small ads.‘ which are in virtually every newspaper and magazine. What a tremendously useful service they perform for the community! Just about anything can be accomplished through these columns. For instance, you can find a job, buy or sell a house, announce a birth, marriage or death in what used to be called the ‗hatch, match and dispatch‘column but by far the most fascinating sec tion is the personal or ‗agony‘ column. No other item in a newspaper provides such entertaining reading or offers such a deep insight into human nature. It‘s the best advertisement for advertising there is!51.What is main idea of this passage?A. Advertisement.B. The benefits of advertisement.C. Advertisers perform a useful service to communities.D. The costs of advertisement.52.The attitude of the author toward advertisers isA. appreciative.B. trustworthy.C. critical.D. dissatisfactory.53. Why do the critics criticize advertisers?A. Because advertisers often brag.B. Because critics think advertisement is a ―waste of money‖.C. Because customers are encouraged to buy more than necessary.D. Because customers pay more.54. Which of the following is Not True?A. Advertisement makes contribution to our pockets and we may know everything.B. We can buy what we want.C. Good quality products don‘t need to be advertised.D. Advertisement makes our life colorful.55. The passage isA. Narration.B. Description.C. Criticism.D. 2019-2020学年人教版高一英语单元测试卷:必修1 Unit 1 (解析版)

Unit 1第一节阅读理解ANine months ago, I was packing my daughter's backpack with new school supplies, wondering how I was going to send her off to kindergarten. I stood on the playground, tears pouring down my face because I wasn't ready for this first day of kindergarten — but she was ready. Today I will be standing on the playground, once again with tears, because this precious time went by too quickly. This week I realized that I never told you “thank you”. I don't k now how to express a mother's thanks in the way a teacher deserves. We first met you at the open house the week before school started and I immediately knew you would be the type of teacher we would appreciate forever. While the students lined up for the day, you touched each one on the shoulder as you greeted them. If a student was having a tough morning, you quietly held his hand and walked him into the school.I got to know you as I volunteered in the lunch room. You made sure your students were all ready for lunch before you went on your own lunch break. You kept track of their big things and small things, because as a veteran kindergarten teacher, you know that the small things are the big things. I loved the way you made each student feel special. You helped them fall in love with school, which is so important at the start. To all of the teachers in the world who are like you, I wish you knew how grateful parents are for you. We adore you, respect you, and appreciate you. We don't tell you enough — we probably don't tell you ever. I wish we could take you with us to the next 12 grades.体裁:记叙文题材:家校关系主题:感激师恩【语篇解读】本文主要描述了一位幼儿妈妈表达对幼儿园老师的感激。
