1、要尽快找到材料，认真阅读原文材料，一遍不能理解就多读几遍。
阅读的次数越多对原文的理解就越深刻。
2、给Summary起一个标题，尽量用那些能概括文章主题思想的单词、短语或短句子作为标题。
也可以使用文章的主题句，主题句一般出现在文章的开头极为部分，一个好的标题有助于确定文章的中心思想。
3、分清主次。
决定原文中内容的主次，对重要部分的主要观点进行概括。
整理和简要地写出文章的主题、标题、细节等你认为对概括Summary重要的东西。
第二步——动手写作Summary一般只有原文的三分之一或四分之一长，首先在字数上要控制好。
其次要全部使用自己的话概括完成，不要引用原文，但是在逻辑上或者是观点的进展上要遵循原文，避免自己重新组织观点、事实时出现问题。
第三，写作Summary必须全面、清晰地表明原文所载的信息以便导师或是其他同学不需要翻阅原文就可以完全掌握材料的原意。
在具体地写作中有以下几个小技巧：1、删繁就简，只保留主要观点。
2、选择一两个例子，原文中也许包括5个或更多的例子，但是留学生只需要从中筛选1-2个例子。
3、把长段的描述变成短小、简单地句子。
如果在材料中描述某人或某事用了十个句子，你需要把他们变成一两句即可。
4、避免重复。
在原文中作者有可能为了强调某个主题就会重复论证说明，但是在Summary中是不能使用的，删除重述句。

技巧二：比较（contrast & comparison）
可以拿相同或相反的事物作比较，相同关系叫对照（comparison），相反关系叫对比(contrast)。

技巧三：引用（quotation）
在写作论证过程中表达一些观点的时候如果能拿名人名言来进行论证则更有说服力，说明某位名人的观点和你的观点是达成一致，形成共鸣的。
但引用要求留学生要有相当大的积累，所以再次说明积累的重要性。
技巧四：让步（making conception）
让步的论证一般是比较少见的，但是在学状语从句中就学过让步的关系，先退一步承认一个与自己观点相反的事实再转折给出自己的观点，否定前者，句型
