I don't want to spoil too much of the movie for those who haven't seen it, but really sad things happen and Simba ends up running away from the Pride Lands and his home after his dad passes away.While Simba is living out in the wilderness, he meets two new friends - Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog. They teach Simba about their "hakuna matata" way of life, which means no worries! Simba grows up in the jungle with Timon and Pumbaa having no responsibilities or duties. Can you imagine having to walk that far all by yourself with no parents or anyone to help you? It would be really scary!The movie started off with this family going on vacation to the countryside. They had a big old yellow dog named Bodger, a funny little terrier called Luath, and a very sassy Siamese cat whose name was Tao. I thought the animals were so cute and funny, especially the cat who was always giving the dogs attitude. Like when Luath wanted to play and the cat just looked at him like "Are you kidding me right now?" My cat Whiskers does that to our dog Rufus all the time and it cracks me up!Anyway, so the family went on their trip and had to leave the pets at this ranch with this mean old rancher guy. As soon as the family left, Bodger started crying and whining because he missedthem so much. It made me really sad to see him so upset. Then some scary animal catchers came and tried to take the pets away because they didn't have tags on! Can you believe that? So the pets had to make a run for it into the wilderness to escape.That's when the real adventure began! The animals got lost in the woods and mountains trying to find their way back to their family. The Lion King is a Disney movie about alittle lion cub named Simba who has to go on an incredible journey to become the king of the Pride Lands.The story begins when Simba is just a tiny cub. His dad Mufasa is the current king of the Pride Lands. Mufasa takes Simba out one morning and shows him the whole kingdom, explaining that one day Simba will be king of everything. But Simba's uncle Scar is really jealous and wants to be king instead of Simba. So Scar comes up with an evil plan to get rid of Mufasa and Simba!Scar tricks Simba into going down to the gorge where a huge stampede of wildebeests is happening. Mufasa comes to save Simba but Scar kills him! It's so sad. Scar then tells Simba that it's all his fault and that he has to run away and never come back. Poor little Simba is totally heartbroken and he runs off into the desert, thinking he can never go home again.But then Simba meets up with a meerkat named Timon and a warthog named Pumbaa. They take Simba in and teach him their awesome "Hakuna Matata" philosophy, which means no worries! Simba grows up to be a big strong lion hanging out with his new buddies and having no worries at all. Meanwhile though, things are going terribly back in the Pride Lands because Scar is the worst king ever and is ruining everything.Years go by until finally Simba's friend Nala tracks him down and tells him he has to come back to challenge Scar and take his rightful place as king. At first Simba doesn't want to because he still feels guilty about his dad's death. But then Simba's old babysitter Rafiki helps him realize that Mufasa is still alive in spirit and is watching over him. That gives Simba the courage he needs to head back home!When Simba gets back to the Pride Lands, everything is all dried up and horrible looking because Scar was so bad as king. There's this really intense and scary scene where Simba goes to confront Scar on the Pride Rock. Scar forces Simba to admit that he's responsible for Mufasa's death all those years ago. Just as Scar is about to throw Simba over the edge, Simba reveals that Scar was the one who really killed Mufasa! The other lions turn against Scar and Simba and Scar have an epic battle. Simba wins and reclaims his place as the rightful king!At the end, the Pride Lands become the beautiful paradise they used to be when Mufasa was king. Simba gets married to Nala and they have a cute little cub together. We see Simba and his family looking out over the kingdom, with Mufasa's spirit shining down from the stars above. It's such a heartwarming, beautiful ending that always makes me cry happy tears!I loved The Lion King so much because the story is so exciting and emotional. Poor little Simba goes through so much sadness but he never gives up on finding his destiny. Even though the movie has some really scary parts, like the stampede and the battle with Scar, overall it's an uplifting story about courage, friendship, and staying true to yourself. The animation is breathtaking too, especially during scenes in the lush Pride Lands. And the music is outstanding - songs like "Hakuna Matata" and "Circle of Life" are so catchy and memorable.My favorite characters were definitely Simba, the fearless hero, and Timon and Pumbaa, the hilarious duo who provide comic relief. I loved their goofy personalities and how they bring some fun and humor to the movie even when things seem dark. I also really liked the wise old baboon Rafiki and how he helps guide Simba on his journey. The villainous Scar was delightfully evil and sly - you really grew to hate him for his cruelty towards Simba and destruction of the Pride Lands.Overall, The Lion King has everything a kid could want in a movie - an adventurous plot, endearing characters, breathtaking animation, iconic music, and an inspiring underdog story. It's no wonder it became a beloved classic and why I've seen it hundreds of times already! Whenever I'm feeling sad or stressed,I just pop in The Lion King and let the tale of courage, hope, and "Hakuna Matata" whisk me away.
