Through the learning of this semester, I have got a basis understanding of business English correspondence. Business English correspondence or business letter is a written communication between two parties from differernt countries or regions.With the rapid development of China’s trade and other economic activities with foreign countries in recent years, especially after China’s entering into the WTO, business correspondence has become more and more important in the economic field.From establishing business relations to the signing of a contract in the end, business cannot go without business correspondence.
I am so thankful to our teacher because several practices of writing inquiry, quation, invoice,etc. will do me a good favor in applying the business letter correctly and normally. We have learned mainly about the seven general procedures of international business, they are: establishing business relationship, inquiry, quotation or offer, pricing or negotiation, ordering or contract, terms of payment and shipment. Just like what I have said in the first paragraph, ecch step of the business cannot go without business correspondence. But here I want to focous on the first
procedure:How to Establish Business Relationship.
In order to establish business relationship, we should firstly find an exporter or a buyer. There are several channels which we can use in the search of an exporter.
The first one is internet. Nowadays, you can have an easy access to the internet to get whatever information you need. So it will be not so hard to find some good buyers from the internet. The second one is advertisement. You can get the information you want through adverstisements in the newspapers and magazines. Or you can introduced your company through ads in a certain newspaper or magazine. The third one is through chamber of commerce. A chamber of commerce is an organization of businesspeople. One of it’s tasks is to provide business information and to find new business opportunities for it’s members. You can also ask the chamber of commerce to publish your company’s name and address in their weekly or monthly journals or bulletins to enable you co communicate with the companies there.
Of course you can also find an exporter through other channels, such as to get the necessary information from the Commercial Counselor’s Officers in the embassies in various countries. And the banks are always ready to supply the
names and addresses of exporters or importers in their respective cities.
After finding an exporter sucessfully, you should consider how to succeed in the business between you and your buyer now. The success in exporting needs a firm commitment, time and patience, systematic planning and hard work. Though hard work is the last, but it is not least ingredient for export success. Without it the three others will be only partly effective or not at all. Here I won’t explain the other three ones in detail.
So, this is how to establish business relationship. I do believe that what I have learned in this class this semester will benefit me a lot in my future work. And I will try to learn more about business English correspondences in my spare time and put them into practice in suitable occasions or in my future job.。
