Shi Baikui is sentenced for stealing art from the Forbidden City last year at the Second Intermediate People's Court in Beijing on Monday. Shi, 27, was sentenced to 13 years in prison, fined 13,000 yuan and was deprived of his political rights for three years. Shi, from Shandong Province, broke into the former home of China's emperors and stole nine art pieces made of gold and jewels on May 8, 2011, the court said.

NEW YORK – Wendy's has dethroned Burger King as the country's second biggest hamburger chain. A report by the food industry research firm Technomic set to be released in April will show that Wendy's edged out Burger King in U.S. sales volume for the first time in 2011 since Wendy's was founded in 1969. Wendy's had sales of $8.5 billion in 2011, compared with $8.4 billion for Burger King. McDonald's remained far larger than both with $34.2 billion in sales.
