因此，从话题角度上看，本单元在本册书以及整个初中阶段的教学中具有特殊的地位和重要性。
本单元围绕“Chores”开展教学活动，学习如何用情态动词could 礼貌地提出请求，如何礼貌地请求允许自己做某事,并做出得体的回答；本课内容是本单元的第二课时，主要任务是通过学生的自主学习和合作探究，巩固第一课时所学的与家务劳动有关的短语以及句型“Could you please…?”并且通过快速阅读、细节阅读、自主阅读和小组合作的方式，提高学生的阅读技能以及从文章中获取有效信息的能力。

本课以学生感兴趣的《我们的挑战》这个电视节目开始，引起学生的兴趣和用目标语言表达的欲望。
然后以“挑战”二字为切入点，通过朗读赏析品味语言，引导学生逐步从表面感知、分析感悟、反思归纳、最后上升到初步领悟文章感情色彩和人物精神品质的思想高度。
本课通过图片、略读、寻读、精读方式和回答问题、填表格、改错、填空等不同的问题设置来引导学生对知识的主动探索，引发学生的课堂讨论，实现学生的高效学习，激发学生的创造思维。
并学习了阅读技巧，所谓“授之以鱼，不如授之以渔”，通过阅读活动，渗透阅读技巧，培养学生的自学能力。
并在语言运用环节设计让学生能够很好的运用目标语言来表达，通过他们感兴趣的身边的事“济南电视台的夏令营活动”来调动他们的积极性和创造性。
并通过本课的学习让学生学习鲁滨逊的自信、努力、永不放弃、团队合作的精神，鼓励他们“有志者事竟成，对任何困难都不轻言放弃”做到这些他们一定能取得成功。
以上几个环节换换紧扣，让学生在潜移默化中自然而然地学到了新知识。
实践证明，本课不仅调动了已会的同学，还让那些不会的同学有了更多更细心的学习机会，排除了师生之间的隔阂，让他们从自己的同龄人中学习，他们感到自然，易于接受同时也激发他们对英语学习的浓厚兴趣，为他们将来的学习打下良好的基础。
这节课后，绝大部分学生能够掌握所学基础知识，并能自如地运用目标语言进行交际输出。
本节课目标基本达成，同时也有值得改进的地方。
一堂课下来，总体课堂气氛不够活跃。
我觉得问题有四点，第一，学生本身对长篇阅读就有抵触心理，不想读，不敢读，怕读不懂，这是我在以后的教学中急需解决的问题。
第二，学生对老师的全英文授课的方式接受起来还存在难度，不能很容易的理解老师每个环节的要求，这需要在以后的授课过程中，让学生逐渐接受英文所传达的每个指令，并提高学生的听力技巧和单词量的掌握。
