Do youwork or are you a student,今天先看study.1. What major are you studying?2. Why did you choose to study that subject?3. What courses do you like and dislike? [why/why not]4. Where do you study?5. Why did you choose this school/university?What major are you studying? My major is computer science.I major in computer science.I’m studying the major of computer science. Why did you choose to study that subject? Because I like this major very much. Computer science is a little bitchallenging but I’m good at it so I enjoy doing this subject. Also, Ican get a decent job easily after I graduate from the university. There are many reasons why I choose computer science as a major.或者The reasons are complicated, you know.

(Experience Question: a good sample is supposed to briefly convey the feeling of that experience attached with the main details.)Yeah, I still remember the last New Year when my uncle invited all of my family members to stay 3 nights in the most up-scale hotel of my hometown. We all enjoyed the luxurious facilities, like the cozy bed and smooth velvit. I was even served breakfast every morning in my room. It’s fantastic.2. What services and facilities are usually available in hotels in your country? (Description Question: The most common mistake is to list all the ‘facilities’ one has ever known. A better answer should focus on a certain aspect and illustrate some details to support this aspect. If a student finds it too hard to get something sepcial, he/ she can try to categarise the target details and illustrate their functions one by one. )Sample 1: Well, in my mind, most of my country’s hotels could offer the majority of the basic facilities in their service, but the lockers or drawers with keys might be something special. You know, some business people whose work involes confidentiality would appreciate this facility very much.Sample 2: In my mind, most of my country’s hotels could offer the majority of the basic facilities in their service, like beds, TVs and showers with hot water. These facilities are essential to make the guests have less uncomfortable feelings in an unfamiliar environment. Most of the hotels also provide some wardrobes to the guests to hang their clothes.3. What factors are important when selecting a hotel? (Giving Opinion Questions: The sturcture of this kind of question is quite clear. The answerer is supposed to propose an opinion and give some explanation.)From my perspective, security is the thing I pay the utmost attention to. That includes not only just the CCTV cameras but also the maintaining of their facilities. We should, first of all, ensure ourselves not injured by accident when we choose to stay a while in some places.Part 2Describe an important invention (before the age of computers) that has influenced human society. You should say:what the invention iswhen and where it was inventedhow it is usedand explain how this invention has influenced society. In my mind, trains have been serving as an outcome of the desire to facilitate humans’ lives and never fall behind people’s expectations. As an art and literature student, I can’t exactly tell the origin of this great invention. However, I thought its creation could date back to the age of steam train in UK after the invention of team machine by James Watt. The increase of our life qualities should owe a lot to this invention for two reasons. (Background Information) For one thing, almost every citizen in today’s modern society enjoys the high frequency and speed of the railway service. Specifically, people only need to spend several hours to cover a long distance journey which would have taken them about a month in the past. One could even get into the next train in less an hour if the one issued by the ticket was missed. (Point 1 + Explanation)For another, the net of the rail tracks covers a large area of my country. No matter how remote your location is, you would have a relatively easier access to the nearest train station.Speaking of this, I should say thanks to the invention of train as a globetrotter. (Point 2 + Explanation)All in all, trains play an important role in our life and contribute a lot to our society. (Ending Sentence)Part 31.What changes have taken place in society as a result of the use of modern technology such as the television and the computer? (Description Question)The past decades witnessed a series of changes brought by high technologies. On the one hand, people benefit a lot from the convenience and efficiency supported by thoseadvanced technologies. For example, computer has speeded up the pace of almost every single work and is going to make more changes in the near future. On the other hand, high technology also invades into people’s daily lives and shapes people’s life styles. One of the most noticeable phenomenon must be the growing number of phubbers who care less and less about their surroundings.2. Do you think people rely too much on machines and modern technology nowadays? (Giving Opinion Question)Absolutely yes. People have already lost the ability to deal with even basic tasks without the assistance of technology. Specifically, we could see this from the overwhelmingoccupation of those so-called ‘user friendly’ electronic products. People even don’t have to read the instruction before they get familiar with the main functions.3. How do you think modern technology will change the way people work in the future? (Prediction Question)To tell the truth, people’s way of working is being changed by the most cutting-edgetechnology all the time and this will definitely be the tendency in the future. Obviously, people have been changing their minds to keep in tune with the high-tech to enhancetheir work efficiency. It’s natural to benefit from what we created.。

HomeTownWhere are you from, which part of your country?I am from a small town of Taian city of Shandong Province in China. It locates on the northeastof China and southwest of Shandong.1.what do u like about your hometown? (What would you say is the best thing about your hometown? What's your favourite part of your hometown?Do u like your hometown? )I love my hometown's beautiful natural scenery[si:neri] very much.My hometown is an inland agricultural region. It is famous for its peach. Most farmers in the town plant peaches ,although they also plant other fruits, but mostly peaches. In the spring, the peach trees are blooming.Withouta real look you can't imagine how beautiful the peach blossom blooming all over the moutain is .Itis gorgeous. And cos it's not an industrial town, the environment is good ,the air is clear, the sky is blue, and I also enjoy the peace and quiet there.2.what do u dislike about your hometown.I guess the answer would be the economy.Cas my hometown is not near the centre of the city, its economy is bad. Some area are pretty run-down.Pepole in my hometown are not rich and the living condition is not very good.Even worsely its economy is shrinking instead of growing cas the peaches sell not very well in recent years.I think maybe the quality of the peaches drops is the reason, you know, its taste is not as good as before,so less and less people buy peaches.3.Do u think your hometown is good for young people? No.cas i think my hometown is kind of falling behind the times.it lacks of opporpunity and changes which is very important for the young people. Most old people in the town didn't get thehigh education. That's why most parents in my hometown try their best to support their children tothe college. They think only knowlege can change your fate.4.what's the nightlife like in your hometown? Most pepole in my hometown don't go out at night. After dinner,Children may do homework in their room while the parents watching TV outside. This reminds me of my childhood.cas my parents are not stict with me,so I can watch TV while i am doing homework. That's a reward formy good scores in the exam.Parents in my hometown don't care how u study, they just want the result. You give them what they want ,you can get the freedom.Oh Sorry,i go too far.5.what would u change about your city? The economic system i think. People in my hometown they just plant the peaches and sell them to the dealers. The money farmers can get is very limited. If they can be the dealers themselves or the government of my hometown can open bussiness such as peach juice factories, dried peach factories,i think things may go very differently. And they must improve the quality of the peaches firstly of course.Because in my memory the peach of my hometown are very big and delicious and also have numrous varieties.I am very confused why the quality drops year by year.I just can't get it.6.What types of public transport can be found in your hometown? The bus and bike.If people in the town want to go to the market or the shop and students want togo to school ,they often go there by bike or motorcycle. But if they want to go to the city, bus is the first choice.Few people have private cars in my hometown. And if people has some hurry things todo ,and they don't have a motorcycle and no time to waiting bus ,they may take a taxi.(But the taxiis not a real taxi.I mean it's not like the taxi in big cities. It' kind of a mixture of motorcyle and car.It has three wheels and a carrige shed.In small cities and towns of China you can see this kind transportation everywhere.)But few pepole will do that cas most pepole are penny-pinching ,they think taking taxi is a luxury.Where do you live at the moment?I’m not living in my hometown right now.I am living in my university .It is in Dongying city of ShanDong Province. How long have you been living there/here?I am living there about 6 years.cas I study in my university for about 6 years.4 years for my undergraduate course,2 years for my master’s degree. I am back to my hometown only on vacation.Do you like _____? (The place you are living in now) (Why?/Why not?) (e.g. 20 years) yes. There are a lot of changes.First of all, more buildings and factories are showing up ,besides, the populations are getting bigger and bigger. The traffic system is moreconvenient. But the environment is worse than it used to be.Rivers are polluted and treesare cut down, the air is not as fresh as before.Compared to the past, would you say your hometown today is moresuitable for living in, or less suitable? It depends.

History is more than the old stories, myths, or an academic subject for the scholars to write papers or books. Like many other sciences, history not only tells people what have happened before but also functions as a pass to lead human beings in the right course. One of the most important roles that the study of history plays in solving the current human affairs is that it functions as a “rearview mirror”. It shows what is behind you so that you can move forward easily. History is, in essence, the people and their activities, both physical and psychological, in the past. If we aept that the past and the present are not entirely separated, then we have to admit the value of history. Our ancestors have suffered the same troubles, such as disease, disaster, or devil, as what we are confronted with, and their experiences, knowledge, and understanding of nature provide us with invaluable wisdom. It is true that a fewer people claim that history helps people little in unlocking the current problems. They might give a long list of assumed “evidence”. For instance, they say that environmental issues are new, globalization unprecedented, political or economical conflicts fresh, and the like. Nevertheless, they have failed to see that inessence these problems are what our forefathers have experienced. Today people are suffering the same old trouble of poverty, wars, and mental crisis. Therefore, reading history, at least we can find some clues to solve these problems.。

1. Do you like (to learn about) history?
I love history it shows us where we come from. People
say history always repeats itself and it does. I think it’s important to look back so we can learn from past mistakes and make sure we don't make the same ones as ancestors did. My favorite time in history would have to be the medieval times.

2. Do you think history is important?
History is the record of events of what had happened in the past. In a sense all developments in politics, government, society, inventions and discoveries are part of human history. History helps you understand yourself better and understand others around you better.

3. Do you think you can learn history from films or TV programs?
No. Unless the film is presented as a documentary, no strict adherence to the historical record is mandated. You go to movies not to learn about history but to be entertained, frightened, thrilled. That’s all great. But there’s no
reason that an episode of history has to be done with a
certain degree of accuracy, because that’s not the objective of a movie. My view is, if you get your history from movies
or TV programs, you get what you deserve.

4. Do you think the internet is a good way to learn
about history?
There many excellent resources for the study of history available on the Internet. Keep in mind, however, that not everything published on the Internet is reliable information. We should all be careful and use our commonsense when surfing the Internet. Always check the information you learn from online against reliable sources elsewhere.

5. Does your country have a long history?
With more than 4,000 years of recorded history, China is one of the few existing countries that also flourished economically and culturally in the earliest stages of world civilization.
