1The Bad Side of AdsHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to talk to you about something that really bugs me - all the ads we see every single day! I'm sure you've noticed them too. They are everywhere - on TV, online, at the movies, on billboards, even at school sometimes. At first, ads might seem harmless and maybe even fun or entertaining. But I think there are a lot of problems with them that adults don't always realize. One of the biggest issues is that ads are constantly trying to get us to buy more stuff. The companies making the ads want us to think that their product will make us happier, cooler, or more popular. But that's just a big trick! Buying more toys, clothes, snacks or electronic won't actually make us better people or solve our problems. It just makes those companies richer while our parents have to spend more money.Ads also put a lot of pressure on kids to look or act a certain way. The people in ads are always super skinny with perfect hairand skin. For girls, the ads make it seem like you have to be pretty and dress up all the time to be accepted. For boys, a lot of ads say you have to be tough and athletic to be a "real man." That's just not fair or true! Everyone is different and unique in their own way. Ads make too many kids feel uncomfortable about how they look or act.Another bad thing about ads is that they aren't always honest. Companies will say or do anything to get people to buy their product, even if it means tricking us. Like when snack food ads try to make unhealthy treats look healthier than they really are. Or when toy ads make a toy look way more exciting than it actually is in real life. Ads stretch the truth a lot and it's easy for kids to get fooled. While we're on that topic, a lot of ads are actually advertisements for things kids shouldn't even be having - like alcohol, inappropriate movies, or adult products. Sure, those ads aren't directly targeted at kids, but we end up seeing them anyway. It's just weird and uncomfy to have little kids exposed to that kind of stuff through ads all the time.Speaking of being exposed to stuff, have you ever noticed how there are ads literally everywhere you look now? You can't go outdoor without seeing a huge billboard ad, you can't watcha video online without an ad playing first, you can't even just play a game or use an app without annoying banner ads constantly popping up. It's too much! Ads just keep getting pushed on us more and more to the point where we can't even escape them. No wonder so many kids struggle to pay attention these days.Ads also encourage kids to be very materialistic and always want the latest trendy thing instead of being grateful for what they already have. I don't know any kids who don't make endless wish lists for new toys, clothes, phones etc. after seeing ads for them. This makes kids nag their parents for stuff all the time instead of being happy with the perfectly good things they already own.I could probably go on listing reasons why ads negatively impact kids, but I think you get the general idea. Basically, ads put way too much pressure and unrealistic expectations on kids. They make us insecure, materialistic, and discontent instead of feeling happy with ourselves and grateful for what we have. Not to mention they are often dishonest and expose us to inappropriate things we shouldn't be seeing.I'm not saying we should get rid of ads entirely. I know companies need a way to let people know about their products and stores need a way to keep costs down so everything isn'tsuper expensive. But there should definitely be a lot more rules and restrictions around ads, especially those targeted toward kids and seen by kids.Like, maybe there could be limits on how many ads we're exposed to per day. Or all kid ads have to be fact-checked for honesty. Or there are certain inappropriate things that are completely banned from being advertised in kid spaces. I don't know, I'm just a 5th grader - adults can figure out the actual policies! But I do know something needs to change when it comes to protecting kids from the negative effects of ads.So next time you see an ad, take a second to think about what it's really saying or doing. Is it trying to make you feel insecure so you'll buy something? Is it stretching the truth to get your money? Is it appropriate for kids to be exposed to? Ads are drugs after all, so we have to be smart consumers and not let ourselves get tricked.Anyway, that's just my take as a 10-year-old kid. Let me know what you think! Do you feel like you see too many ads too? Do they impact you the same way? I'd love to hear your perspective. Thanks for listening to me rant - and to any adults reading, please start working on regulating those pesky ads better!篇2The Bad Side of AdsHi friends! Today I want to talk about something that bugs me a lot - ads! You know, those annoying commercials on TV and YouTube that interrupt our fun and try to sell us stuff. They're everywhere these days and I think they cause some real problems for kids like us. Let me explain why I feel this way.First off, ads make us want to buy things we don't really need. The whole point of ads is to convince us that we absolutely MUST have whatever product they're selling, even if we were perfectly happy without it before seeing the ad. The ads make the products look so cool, with bright colors, funny jokes, and glamorous people using them. After watching, I suddenly feel like my life won't be complete unless I get that new video game, those fresh sneakers, or whatever's being advertised. I start begging my parents for it, but often they say no because we don't really have room in our budget for stuff I don't truly need. That leads to arguments and me feeling super disappointed. It's like the ads have brainwashed me into craving things that won't actually make me happier!Another bad thing about ads is that they reinforce stereotypes and give us the wrong ideas about how we're supposed to look or act. The people in ads are always portrayed as tall, thin, glamorous and flawless. For girls, the implication is that you have to be a certain kind of pretty to be valued. For boys, you're supposed to be a sports star or heartthrob. But most of us normal kids don't look like that at all! Seeing those narrow ideals over and over in ads makes us feel crummy about ourselves. It also promotes the idea that clothes, makeup, cars and lifestyles are what define your worth as a person rather than your character. I don't think that's a healthy message to keep pushing on young, impressionable minds like ours.Ads also sneak unhealthy food into our homes in a very tricky way. We all know candies, sodas, fast food and chips aren't good for us if we have too much. They're full of sugar, salt, bad fats and empty calories that can make us overweight and sick if we binge on them regularly. But the commercials for junk food make it look SO irresistible and fun, with zany characters and sweet jingles convincing us it's the most delicious stuff on earth. When my little sister sees those ads, she bugs our parents for those treats relentlessly until they give in just to stop the whining. Then the cycle of overindulging on nutritionally crappy foods begins again. If those ads didn't worm their way into our homethrough the TV and internet, maybe we'd eat more balanced diets. Finally, I get really annoyed that so many of our TV shows, YouTube videos, games and websites are now constantly interrupted by video ads we can't skip. I'll be in the middle of my favorite cartoon and – BAM! – a loud, flashy commercial starts blasting from the screen. Or I'm trying to watch an educational video to learn something new and I'm thrown off track by multiple ad breaks. Ugh! These rude ad interruptions make it really hard to stay focused and enjoy our viewing in peace. We end up losing our train of thought or getting distracted from the original video we wanted to watch. It's like we can't escape the ads, no matter what we're trying to do for fun or learning. They're force-fed to us over and over until I want to scream! So those are the main reasons I think ads negatively impact us kids so much. From mind games making us crave stuff to spoiling our body images, promoting junk food cravings and being a gigantic distraction from our entertainment...is it any wonder I get so frustrated with ads? I wish there were a way to make them all disappear so we could just enjoy media without constant selling being shoved down our throats. Maybesomeday technology will give us filters to block out ads completely. A kid can dream, right? Thanks for reading my rant, friends! I'd love to hear if you feel the same way about ads bugging you or not. Let me know your thoughts!篇3The Bad Things About Ads in Our LivesAds are everywhere these days! You see them on TV, on the internet, on billboards, and even at school sometimes.Grown-ups think they are helpful for letting people know about new products. But I think ads can actually be really bad for us kids and our families. Let me tell you why.First of all, a lot of ads try to get you to buy unhealthy food and drinks like candy, soda, and fast food. They make this stuff look so yummy and fun. The people in the ads are always really happy and having such a good time eating junk food. But we all know that stuff is not good for you if you eat too much of it. It can make you gain weight and even get sick. My mom gets so mad when me and my brother ask for sugar cereals or junk snacks because we saw them in a commercial. She says the ads are tricking us.Another bad thing about ads is that they stereotype boys and girls a lot. Have you noticed that toy ads for boys are always showing action figures, video games, and building stuff? And for girls, it's always dolls, makeup, and princess things. Why can't the ads show girls who like science or boys who want to cook? It's like ads think all boys and all girls are exactly the same, which is not true at all! My best friend Emily is really good at math and building robots. The ads make it seem like only boys can do that stuff.Ads can also make you feel bad about yourself, especially for teenagers. There are so many ads for beauty products with models that are really tall and skinny with perfect hair and skin. That makes people think they have to look a certain way to be considered pretty or handsome. But not everyone can look like that! My sister gets really down when she sees those kinds of ads. She thinks she needs to buy all sorts of makeup and diet things to look good, even though I think she's already really pretty. Ads put too much pressure on how we should look.Another problem is that ads are everywhere, all the time, and they're really loud and distracting. I'll be watching my favorite TV show, and then here comes a commercial for some random product screaming at me to go buy it. It's so annoying! And youcan't escape them, even when you're just walking around, driving in the car, or browsing online. My dad says he feels like he's being followed by ads and that they're constantly shoving things in his face to buy.Lastly, I think ads might even brainwash people a little bit. They use really sneaky tactics to make you want to buy stuff you don't really need. Like they'll have a cool jingle or catchy phrase that gets stuck in your head. Or they'll use tricks like saying their product is a "limited time offer" to make you think you have to buy it right away. My aunt is a marketing person, and she told me all the psychological tricks they use in ads to try to control people's thoughts. So in the end, even though some ads are fun or creative, I think they have too many downsides. They make people want unhealthy food, they stereotype boys and girls, they make people feel insecure about their looks, they're super annoying and distracting, and they try to brainwash you with mind tricks. I wish there were less ads and more positive messages instead. It would be a better world if people could make their own choices without being manipulated by advertisers all the time. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with me?篇4Here's an essay on the negative impacts of advertising on our lives, written in English from the perspective of an elementary school student (around 2,000 words):The Big Bad World of AdsAds, ads, ads! They're everywhere we look these days. On TV, on the internet, on billboards, and even in school. At first, ads seem really cool and fun, with their bright colors, catchy jingles, and hilarious characters. But if you look closer, you'll see that ads are actually kind of sneaky and can trick us into wanting things we don't really need. One of the biggest problems with ads is that they make us feel like we're not good enough unless we buy their products. The ads for toys make it seem like we'll be the most popular kid if we have the latest action figure or video game. Clothing ads convince us that we're not stylish or cool if we don't wear their brand. Even food ads make us think we're missing out on life if we don't eat their snacks or drink their sodas. It's not fair that ads make us feel bad about ourselves just so they can sell more stuff. They play on our insecurities and make us believe that their products will fix all our problems and make us happier. But that's just not true. Sure, a new toy is fun for a little while, but it doesn't make us better people or solve our realproblems. And those sugary snacks they advertise? They may taste good, but they're not good for our health at all.Ads also have a way of creating wants and needs that we never even knew we had. Before I saw that ad for the latest gaming console, I was perfectly happy playing with the toys I already had. But after seeing how much fun the kids in the ad were having, I suddenly felt like I just had to have that new console. It's like the ads were putting ideas in my head, making me want things I didn't even know existed. And let's not forget about all the ads for junk food. They make those burgers, fries, and shakes look so delicious and satisfying. But what they don't show you is how unhealthy all that greasy, sugary food really is. If we eat too much of it, we could end up overweight or even get sick. But the ads never mention that part; they just want us to crave their food and buy it without thinking about the consequences.Another thing that bugs me about ads is how they stretch the truth or even outright lie to get us to buy their products. They use fancy camera tricks and editing to make their food look bigger, juicier, and more appealing than it really is. Or they'll make claims about their products that aren't entirely accurate, just to make them sound better than their competitors. It's not fair that companies are allowed to trick us like that just to make more money. We're just kids, and we trust that the ads are telling us the truth. But a lot of the time, they're not being honest at all. They're just trying to manipulate us into wanting their products, even if those products aren't really good for us.I also don't like how ads are everywhere these days, even in places where we're just trying to have fun or learn. It's really distracting and annoying when we're watching our favorite TV shows or playing online games, and ads keep interrupting us. And it's even worse when ads find their way into our schools or textbooks. We go to school to learn, not to be bombarded with advertising. All of these ads are just too much, especially for kids like us. We're still learning and growing, and we don't need companies trying to influence us or tell us what we should want or buy. Ads can be misleading, manipulative, and even harmful, especially when it comes to our self-esteem, our health, and our ability to think for ourselves.I'm not saying that all ads are bad or that companies shouldn't be allowed to advertise at all. But I do think there need to be stricter rules about how and where they can advertise, especially when it comes to kids. Ads shouldn't be allowed to lie or make false claims, and they shouldn't be permitted in places like schools or children's entertainment. We kids are impressionable, and we need to be protected from the negative effects of advertising. We should be free to develop our own desires and interests without being constantly bombarded by companies trying to sell us stuff we don't really need.So the next time you see an ad, whether it's on TV, online, or anywhere else, remember to think critically about what it's really trying to do. Is it just trying to manipulate you into wanting their product, even if that product isn't good for you? Or is it providing honest and truthful information that could actually be helpful?Don't let the ads trick you into thinking you're not good enough or that you need to buy their stuff to be happy. You're already an amazing person just the way you are, and true happiness comes from within, not from any product or material possession.Stay smart, stay strong, and don't let the big, bad world of ads bring you down!篇5Ads, Ads Everywhere!Have you ever been watching your favorite cartoon and then had to sit through a bunch of annoying commercials? Or maybe you were playing an app game on your tablet and those pesky video ads kept popping up? Advertisements are all around us these days - on TV, online, in apps, on billboards when we're driving in the car, even at school and the playground sometimes. Ads, ads, ads! They're enough to drive a kid crazy!I think advertisements can have some really negative effects on our lives as kids. First off, a lot of them try to trick us into buying stuff we don't actually need. They make toys and snacks and games look SO amazing and tempting. Like you absolutely HAVE to have that new action figure or those delicious fruit gummies or the latest video game. But then when you finally get it, it's not quite as awesome as it looked in the commercial. The advertisers stretched the truth or only showed you the really cool parts to get you excited. That's pretty deceiving if you ask me!Another bad thing about ads is they can influence kids to nag their parents for things constantly. You see a great toy advertised on TV and immediately start bugging your mom ordad to buy it for you. Even if they already got you plenty of presents for your birthday or a holiday, the ad makes you think you NEED that other new toy too. So you drive your poor parents crazy with the relentless nagging until they finally give in just to get some peace and quiet! Not a very nice thing for advertisements to make kids do.Additionally, many ads are for unhealthy foods likesugar-packed cereals, candy, sodas, and greasy fast food. The commercials make that stuff look so yummy and fun, with kids happily eating it and having a total blast. But in reality, those junk foods aren't good for our bodies and can make us overweight or sluggish if we eat too much of it. I've definitely been fooled by food ads before and then felt kinda yucky after pigging out on the actual product.Another problem with advertising is that some of it isn't really appropriate for kids. Like ads for movies, video games or even some toys that are too violent or scary. Just because we see the ads for that kind of inappropriate stuff doesn't mean we should be exposed to the actual thing. It's hard for Mom and Dad to keep sheltering us from content that isn'tage-appropriate when we're constantly seeing promos for it everywhere we look! And lastly, ads take up a bunch of time and space that could be used for better purposes. Think about all the commercial breaks during kid shows - that's less time for actual programming we enjoy. Or websites and apps cluttered with flashing banner ads - you can barely see the stuff you're trying to look at or play! Playgrounds plastered with ads on the benches and fences, distracting from kids being able to run around and have creative fun. I'd rather look at cool artwork, games or nature scenes than ads trying to sell me more stuff. Now don't get me wrong, I don't HATE advertisements or anything. Some are actually funny or creative in a way that grabs your attention. And I get that companies need to let people know about their products somehow. But overall, I think there are too many ads surrounding us kids these days and that they have some negative effects we should be aware of. Like accidentally being misled, excessive pestering of parents, exposure to stuff unsuitable for kids, and things being constantly commercialized. If I had my way, there would be some better rules around advertising towards children. Like limiting the number of commercials during kid TV shows or on websites popular with children. No advertising for violent/inappropriate stuff wherekids will see it. And maybe even having a separation between ads and kids' environments, so there's some sacred spaces without any selling involved - just for learning, playing, and using our imaginations freely without distractions. I think that could make the world a little bit of a better place for us kids! But anyway, those are just some of my thoughts. Advertisements don't ruin my whole life or anything super dramatic like that. It's just something to be aware of so we don't get totally fooled or brainwashed by the endless barrage of commercials and promotions out there. As long as we can learn to be critical viewers and not nag our parents too intensely, maybe we'll turn out just fine! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go ask my mom to buy me those new superstar ornamental hair clips I saw advertised...。
