I don’t know how I did it. While the airplane was climbing, I was asking myself a lot of questions. For example, what would my parents think of me if the parachute didn’t work? The master Array jumper looked at me and said, “Don’t worry. W e’ll be with you.”
Then, I looked at my altimeter. We were at 10,000 feet. I looked at the door, and the light had turned green.
“Are you ready?” the master jumper asked me.
“Yes, I am.” I answered him.
We walked to the door. There were two master jumpers who would jump with me. One was on my left, and the other was on my right. I followed all the steps, and then we jumped.
I was flying! I looked at my master jumpers. They were with me, and they were smiling. I felt relaxed. I had to wait until I was at 6,000 feet to pull the rope.
Things were working without problems. There was no noise except the sound of the wind. I looked at my altimeter. It was at 6,000 feet. And I pulled the rope with my right hand. I almost stopped in the air. The harness (背带) was holding me. I was at 4,000 feet. I could see the airport and the place where I had to land. I was going to land in four minutes. When I arrived on the ground, I thought I had done it.

Recently, the TV show Where Are We Going, Dad?has become one of China’s most popular TV shows, attracting more than 600 million viewers each week.
In this program, five celebrity fathers traveled to six countryside locations across China, including some villages in Beijing, Y unnan, Shandong, Hunan, Heilongjiang and a desert in Ningxia. They took care of their kids without the help of the kids’ mothers. At the same time, they also took part in different kinds of activities with their kids together, such as cooking, fishing and selling groceries.
Why is the show so popular? “It reflects (折射) social reality. In big cities, f athers are always busy earning money and making achievements in their career. They don’t spare more time with their kids.” said Xie Dikui, general director of the show. As the father of a 3-year-old daughter, Xie said that he found his own hear t being touched as he made it. “Although these fathers are busy, they are able to spare time for their kids. We can do better than them.”
This also happens in some rural areas in China. More and more men from rural areas are now working in big cities, leaving their kids at home under the grandparents’ care.
“I have a so n and a daughter in my hometown.” said Xu Canyong, a 33-year-old man working in Shantou, Guangdong Province. “They come to live with me only during summer and winter vacations. I miss them very
much. I want to have them live with us in Shantou, but the cost of living here is too high.” said Xu.
