After reading "Doughnuts Dilemma" from "Good English 8", I was really touched. The story made me think a lot about choices we have to make in life. In the book, the characters face a difficult decision between doing what's right and following their own desires. It's like they're stuck in a real pickle.I can totally relate to this. Just like them, I've had my fair share of dilemmas. For example, once I had to choose between joining the basketball club and the art club. I really love playing basketball, but I also have a passion for drawing. It was so hard to decide! I spent days thinking about it, going back and forth. In the end, I had to make a choice that wasn't easy. The story in "Doughnuts Dilemma" taught me that sometimes we have to make tough choices, but we should always think carefully and do what we believe is right. Even if it's not the easiest path, it might be the best one in the long run.Life is full of these kinds of choices, and we can learn a lot from the characters in the book. They showed us that it's okay to be confused and unsure, but we have to have the courage to make a decision and stick with it.

8-11 Stinky StreetWritten by Helena Pielichaty and illustrated by Mike Phillips 1.Franklin has a problemHouses are very different. Some are huge and have gold swimming pools. Pop stars live in those. Some are in rows with a brick wall at one end and overlook a pie factory. Franklin Gates lives in one of those. Number three, Stanley Street, to be exact. Some people might think, “I want a house with a swimming pool. “But not Franklin. He loved living on Stanley Street. Everyone was friendly. All his mates were there and the smells from the pie factory...mmm, delicious! There was just one problem. Franklin ’mum and dad wanted to move. His mum was expecting twins and they needed another bedroom."I don't mind sharing mine, “Franklin said."Babies cry all night.""I'll wear earplugs."But his parents wouldn't listen."This house is TOO small, “said his mum.Next day, there was a “for Sale “sign stuck by Franklin's door.Franklin and his best friend Josh stared at the words of doom."What am I going to do,Josh?"said Franklin.Josh frowned. “Has your house got problems?Number forty's got problems and no one wants to buy it."Franklin stared at number forty. It looked all right to him."What kind of problems?"he asked."Oh,mice and damp and really horrible wallpaperFranklin sighed. His house was warm and friendly and it had just been painted, worse luck.Mrs cox lived next door to Franklin in a little house that had once been the corner shop.Just then, she called out,"Hello, lads. Will you take..."Before she could finish, her dog Zack leaped out of her house. He jumped up at the boys, trying to lick their faces."Yuk!Down,Zack!"Josh giggled.Mrs Cox told Zack to get down."He hasn't been out all day.I've been a bit wobbly,"she said, tapping her legs."No worries,"Franklin smiled. He didn't mind taking Zack anywhere. He loved him to bits."I'm sorry you're moving,"Mrs. Cox said."So am I,"Franklin grumbled.Mrs. Cox patted Franklin on the arm."Never mind.Your house might take months to sell."For a week,it looked as if Mrs Cox was right.Only a few people came to look at the house and none of them wanted to buy it.Franklin's mum stroked her growing tummy and looked fed up.Upstairs,Franklin danced around with his underpants on his head in celebration.Maybe he was safe.Maybe no one would buy his house. But a few days later_it must have been Thursday, because the smells from the pie factory were chicken and rhubarbFranklin came home from school to find a man in the kitchen. His name was Mr Bragg and was interested in buying the house.Mr Bragg wasn't interested in Franklin. He glared at Franklin and trod on his toes, without saying sorry.Franklin's heart sank when Mr Bragg said he wanted to come back for a second visit."Saturday morning, ten o'clock sharp,"he said.2 Franklin makes a planThat night,Franklin had a bad dream.Mr Bragg was sniggering at him,"You wait and see, boy.I'm going to have your house!"Then Franklin woke up."No,you won't,you tatty toe-cruncher! “he said angrily. At school,Franklin asked Josh what he was doing on Saturday.Josh shrugged. “Nothing much.""Does your big sister still work in the fish shop?"asked Franklin.Josh nodded."Good.Listen,I've got a job for you..."Franklin cupped his hand over Josh's ear and began whispering his plan. When Josh heard what Franklin wanted, his mouth opened wide enough to swallow a dentist. "I can't do that!"he cried."I'll get into trouble!""You have to!It's my only chance,"Franklin begged. In the end,Josh nodded. He wasn't happy, but he agreed to do what Franklin wanted.3 Something is fishyOn Saturday morning,Franklin's mum was in a flap. "Something smells horrible and I don't know what it is,"she said. She looked around in a panic."Your dad's outside checking the drains."Franklin smiled. He know what the smell was!Mr. and Mrs. Gates were still outside when Mr. Bragg rang the doorbell. Franklin let him into the houseMr Bragg stopped and sniffed the air."Ugh,what's that disgusting smell?"he asked."It's Saturday. The factory does fish pie on Saturdays,"Franklin said.Mr Bragg frowned. “Isn’t the factory shut on Saturdays?""No.Fish every Saturday. That's why we call this Stinky Street.D'you want to see my bedroom?"Upstairs,Franklin opened his bedroom door.Mr Bragg pointed to a huge, dark patch on the wall."What's that?"he asked. "Damp,"Franklin said."Mum made me cover it with a poster last time.""Hmm,"Mr Bragg snorted."Mind the mouse poo,"Franklin grinned, pointing to a pile of brown lumps."It gets stuck in the carpet.""Urgh!"Mr Bragg pulled a face."That's nothing,"smiled Franklin."Wait till you see what the rats do."At that moment, his mum arrived,"Hello,"she smiled."How's it doing?""Your son was telling me about the rats,"Mr Bragg said, icily."Rats? What rats...""Oh,no!"Franklin yelled, pointing out of the window."What is it?"asked Mr Bragg."That horrible Josh Barratt's coming!Quick!Hide!'yelled Franklin."Hide from Josh?Don't be silly,"Franklin's mum said. But Franklin ducked behind his curtains."Josh is a lovely boy!"Franklin's mum said, amazed. But Josh banged on the front door.He shouted football songs. He even burped through the letterbox."Why you little..."Mr. Bragg gasped as Josh ran off."Er...would you like to see the bathroom?"Mrs Gates asked, but Mr Bragg shocked his head."You're joking.I'm not staying here another minute."He ran downstairs and out of the door.4 Mrs Cox joins inMr and Mrs Gates were very angry."You'd better explain what’s going on!"they told Franklin."Er...well...I-"Just then, there was a loud banging."It's c oming from Mrs. Cox's house,"Franklin’s mum said, glaring at her son."Fancy getting an old lady mixed up in this!""I didn't,"Franklin cried."I really didn't!"The banging grew louder and louder. Then Zack started barking.Something was very wrong.Mr. abd Mrs. Gates and Franklin dashed into Mrs. Cox's house. She was lying by her stairs, where she had tripped.Franklin helped his dad lift her carefully onto a chair.Mr Gates wanted to take her to hospital but Mrs. Cox wouuldn't go."I'm not leaving Zack," she said.So they rang her son Eric, and he came to help her.Mrs Cox was still in big trouble. He ran back home and took the fish out of the back of the radiator.(Josh's sister had given it to him.)He vacuumed up the chocolate drops on the carpet in his bedroom. Then he dried the lemonade on his bedroom wall.He said sorry to Josh for getting him into trouble, too. At last,he said sorry to his mum and dad.His mum was very upset."We know you love Stanley Street. We all do-""-But there won't be space for all of us,when the twins arrive,"his dad said firmly."We have got to move to a bigger house.""I know,"Franklin said, sadly.Weeks passed but no one came to look at the house.Winter was coming and Franklin began to feel hospital.Nobody wanted to move in winter, did they? But one day,Franklin came home from school to find creepy Mr Bragg in the kitchen again. He'd found out aboutFranklin's tricks and he still wanted their house."Those Gates have got to move,"Mr Bragg said to himself."I'll get their house cheap!"He smiled slyly and gave Franklin's mum a piece of paper with a price on it.It was a very low price."Let me know tomorrow if I can buy it,"Mr Bragg smirked."Make up your mind.No one else wants it.""We'll think about it,"Mrs Gates said, going pale."Do we have to sell to HIM?"Franklin cried as soon as he'd gone."I expect so,"said his mum.Franklin was furious. How could his mum and dad sell to Mr Bragg?Even the delicious smell of lamb and bananas coming from the pie factory didn't help."I'm going to take Zack for a run,"Franklin said."A long run.To Scotland.""Oh,dear."said his mum.Mrs Cox took ages to answer the door. She was even slower on her feet since her fall.‘I was coming round to your house!”Mre Cox beamed.’Is your mum in? I’ve got something to ask her.’‘Yes,’ said Franklin. He wasTrying to stop being licked to bits by Zack.‘Bring him back by tea time ,’. Mrs Cox called as he set off with the dog.‘ I will ‘ Franklin s aid.‘I was talking to Zack’,Mrs Cox joked. When Franklin came back, Mrs Cox was just leaving his house. ‘How was Scotland? ‘she joked."Cold, “said Franklin, crossly.Mrs Cox laughed as if he'd cracked the funniest joke ever."You'd better get inside and warm up,then,"she toldhim, grinning.Franklin felt grumpy."I don't know why Mrs Cox thinks moving house is so funny..."He stopped. His mum was dancing round the room with-yes-underpants on her head!"What's going on?"he asked."Wait and see!"she laughted. It was Christmas time in Stanley Street. There was no "For Sale"sign outside Franklin's house.Instead, there were piles of bricks and cement from the builders."That was a great idea of Mrs Cox's,"Josh said."You bought her house and knocked both of your houses together-""-So we had one big house,"grinned Franklin."Then the old corner shop downstairs was made into a little flat for Mrs Cox and Zack. Now you get lots of bedrooms upstairs...""...and Mrs Cox and Zack get a safe place downstairs.""So everybody's happy.""Except Mr. Bragg, “Franklin grinned. “He’s bought number forty!"8-11臭街 Stinky Street 翻译1. 富兰克林有一个问题这儿的房子都各不相同。

典范英语8危险的运动鞋英文概括

典范英语8危险的运动鞋英文概括Here's a spoken version of a summary of the story "Dangerous Sneakers" in English, following the given requirements:Oh, those sneakers! They looked so cool, all bright and flashy. But little did I know they would lead to so much trouble. I was just a kid, eager to try out the latest trends. One day, I slipped them on and felt like I could fly. The bounce in my step was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. But soon, I realized the power they held was not just for fun.As I ran around the playground, I noticed the otherkids staring. Some were jealous, some were amazed. But then, things got out of hand. I started feeling invincible, likeI could do anything.A dare was thrown out there, and before I knew it, I had accepted. I tried a jump I'd never attempted before, and well, let's just say it didn't end well. The sneakers gave me too much confidence, and I overestimated my abilities. After that fall, I learned a valuable lesson. Trends and cool stuff are all fun, but they shouldn't make us forget our limits.。

Written by Margaret and illustrated by Scoular Anderson Chapter1Danny MacDonald lived for football. He played it, watched it, talked and dreamed about it. It was his best lesson at school and his favourite game at break. At home lie kicked a football around the garden, and at the park he got together with his friends for a kickabout. You want to know if he was any good at football? He wasn’t brilliant, but he wasn’t bad. Sometimes he was on the school under-twelves team, and sometimes he wasn’t.When he was, he pretended he was playing for Lowgate United.Danny had the Lowgate home strip and the away strip. He also had the scarf, the pyjamas, the duvet cover, the notebook, the socks, and four walls full of posters .His favourite poster, on his bedroom door, was a shot of Keith Connolly belting in a winnerKeith Connolly was Lowgate’s captain and their star striker. When he joined them, they shot into the Premier League. He could make stunning goals out of nothing. He could whack a ball into the net with his left foot from inside his own half.Chapter 2One day in January, after school, Danny hurried through his homework. He wanted to watch TV. Keith Connolly was doing an interview on the local news programme.Danny hoped that the television wouldn't go fuzzy or lose the sound when Keith Connolly was talking. It was an old set, and it did things like that.It buzzed and flickered a bit, but at last Keith Connolly's smiling face appeared on the screen.‘What I really like about playing for Lowgate,’he said, ‘is the fans. They’re the best. They always turn out for us. It’s fantastic running on to the pitch to all that cheering and chanting.’Danny wished he could be in that crowd at Jam Street, the Lowgate ground, but the price of a single ticket was way above anything he could afford. There was no chance of the whole family going, or even just Danny and Gareth, his little brother.‘You won again on Saturday,’said the reporter. ‘Did the team go out to celebrate?’‘We went for a meal together,’ said Keith Connolly, ‘but I have to be careful about what I eat, because I want to stay fit. I love doughnuts…’Then the sound went fuzzy, and Danny jumped up and thumped the top of the set to make it come on again. He hadn't missed much. But he had missed something important.Keith Connolly had been saying, ‘…but I’m not allowed to eat doughnuts.’Danny hadn’t heard that hit. All he heard was Keith Connolly loved doughnuts. And at the end of Danny’s street was a bakery. It sold the biggest, stickiest, jammiest gooey doughnuts ever made.Chapter 3When Danny went to bed, he lay wide-awake under his Lowgate duvet, making plans. He had to find a way of getting those doughnuts to Keith Connolly. In his house on the other side of the city, Keith Connolly was lying awake, too, under his Lowgate duvet. He was thinking of doughnuts. He wasn’t happy. He wished he hadn’t said anything on TV about doughnuts. Now,however hard he tried, stop thinking about them . Enormous gooey, sticky doughnuts, oozing with strawberry jam.But you can’t be a stop striker and eat doughnuts. The team lived on chicken, fish, vegetables, pasta, and fresh fruit. Doughnuts were made of all the things they mustn’t eat –He groaned, pulled the duvet over his head, and tried to sleep.Danny knew that doughnuts had to be eaten fresh. You can’t send them in the post.If he was going to get doughnuts to Keith Connolly,he would have to deliver them. He’d meet Keith Connolly face to face!He didn’t knew where Keith Connolly lived,so he couldn’t take them to his house. And nobody was allowed near the team at training sessions. He’d have to go to ground on a match day, get to players’ dressing room, and hand them to Keith Connolly himself. He wasn’t going to leave them with a security guard .He might forget about them,or scoff them with his coffee. There were two problems.Firstly,to get into the ground,he’d need a match ticket. He added it all up.If he used his Christmas money, saved his pocket money, and got paid for washing the car and walking next door’s Great Dane, he could raise enough for a ticket. He would also have enough for the bus fare, and the doughnuts. The second was harder. Getting inside the players’ changing room at Jam Street was like breaking into a rock. There were security guards, and a dog that looked like its mother was a wolf and its father was a dinosaur. Danny would have to work out how to get past that lot. There was plenty of time . It would take weeks to save the money,so Doughnut Day would be some time in March or April.Chapter4Keith Connolly went to training every day, trying hard not to think about doughnuts. The more he tried, the more he thought about them.He couldn’t concentrate on training .He wondered what warm doughnuts with ice cream would be like . The very thought made him miss an easy header. The manager, Big Brian the Boss, noticed it. ‘Twenty press-ups, Connolly!’ he roared. But he had to roar it twice, because Keith was still thinking about warm doughnutsThe next Saturday afternoon,Danny settled down to watch the Lowgate match on television. It was terrible. He watched helplessly as Keith Connolly missed an easy penalty the post, and fell over his own feet. Low gate lost 3—0.For the rest of the season, Low gate went from bad to worse.Keith lost pace and failed to score, Every pass sailed by him.Big Brian the Boss couldn’t understand what was wrong with Keith. He asked him time and time again, but Keith, wouldn’t tell.He couldn’t say,’The truth is,boss,I’m dying for a doughnut,’He’d feel stupid.Doughnuts followed him into his sleep. He dreamed of scoring in the World Cup by belting a doughnut to the back of the net. In the mornings ,he drove to the jam Street ground the long way round,so he wouldn’t smell the doughnut in the bakery. If he saw the security guards eating doughnuts he had to look away Even the Boss’s head, which was bald and sun-tanned and often glistening with sweat, made him think of a golden brown doughnut sprinkled with sugar. His playing became worse and worse.Lowgate drew one week and lost the next. The fans talked about free transfers. Big Brian the Boss worried about relegation.Everybody at Danny’s school said Keith Connolly should be sold. Danny stuck by his hero.’What he needs is a doughnut,’ he though, as he washed cars and walked the Great Dane.Chapter 5On the morning of 16 March, Danny was up early. He had a ticket for the Low gate game against Sprint United. Sprint were having a brilliant season. Danny’s strip was spread out on the bed and he had bought a packet of dog chews. They might come in useful with the dog at the ground. He was at bakery door before it even opened. There was no point in getting just one doughnut. He bought four, glistening, puffy, jammy doughnuts Packets of four were on special offer. He put them in a sandwich box from the kitchen, so they didn’t get squashed, and so he wouldn’t have to see them all the time. They looked so good.He was too excited to eat much at lunchtime. All he wanted was to get on the next bus to jam Street. He was at the front door, with the box under his arm, when he heard a muffled sniff. He looked round. His little brother,Gareth was sitting halfway down the stairs. He didn’t say anything, but he rubbed his eyes quickly.‘What’s the matter?,kid?’said Danny. But he knew. ‘Want to come,’said Gareth.Danny felt really bad.’Look, when you’re a bit older we’ll go to matches together.’He wished he could take Gareth with him.He thought of the doughnuts in the box.Four of them.Keith Connolly wouldn’t want four, would he?‘How about a doughnut?’he said, and he left Gareth, jammy and a bit comforted, sitting on the stairs eating a doughnut.Chapter6At the ground, Danny found his place. He had chosen a spot near to the exit,so that he could nip out at half time.He had the dog chews ready to bribe the guard dog. He’d have to dodge the security guards somehow. The cheering and chanting began, and the stamping and waving.Danny had to stand on tiptoe to see,but hewas part of it.He clapped and shouted as the teams ran on to the pitch. Then the whistle blew and they kicked off. After that,he thought he’d rather not watch.Keith Connolly wasn’t playing. He was on the substitutes’ bench. After all his efforts, for all those weeks,he wouldn’t even see Keith Connolly play.If he’d been younger he might have cried. ‘Subs’ bench is the best place for Connolly,’said a man near Danny.’Then should sell him.’‘They should give him away,’said somebody else.’Free,in a packet of cornflakes.’Everyone laughed except Danny. Lowgate were playing two other strikers. Their names were Steve Hackett and Jim Mackay, but everyone called them Hack and Mack. They did their best, but it wasn’t working.Hack and Connolly were a good combination. Mack and Connolly were a killing combination. But Hack and Mack together just couldn’t get it right, and Sprint United were on top form. Danny winced as the first goal rocketed into the Lowgate net. When the second one floated into the top corner, he shut his eyes. When he opened them again,Keith Connolly was slipping away down the players’ tunnel.Chapter 7This was his chance. With the box of doughnuts under his arm,Danny bolted for the exit.He ran round the back of the players’changing room.He ducked behind a dustbin. Two security guards stood on duty at the door. Both of them looked big enough to stop a tank with one hand. One was listening to a radio, and the other was filling in the crossword in his newspaper.Between them lay The Dog.Call that a dog?Even lying down,it looked half as tall as Danny. It started at the dustbin, and stood up, snarling.‘Shut up,Vinny,’said one of the guards. ‘I’m listening to the match.’Danny took a dog chew from his pocket and dropped to his knees. He held out the chew.He took care not to look The Dog in the eyes. ‘Good boy,’ he whispered. ‘Good lad, Vinny.Vinny was big, but he wasn’t really much of a guard dog. He trotted up to Danny. Then he sniffed the chew, decided he didn’t like it, and growled again.Danny tried a chocolate flavoured one. Vinny still wasn’t interested. There were three doughnuts in the box. Keith Connolly wouldn’t eat three, would he? If Danny couldn’t get past this dog, he wouldn’t get any at all.Danny opened the box. Vinny sat down with his head on one side and his tail wagging. When Danny put a doughnut in front of him, he took it lovingly between his forepaws. He settled down to lick off the sugar. The guards hadn’t even looked up. Danny threw his empty Coke can as hard as he could, and as it clanged and clattered the guards sprang to their feet. So did Danny.‘He went that way!’ he yelled, pointing. ‘And the other one went – um – that way!’The guards raced in opposite directions.Danny dashed for the changing room, and found himself in the corridor lined with closed doors.Just as he wondered which one to try, he heard the sound of a footie boot hitting the wall.He opened the door quietly, just a bit, and looked in. Keith Connolly flung his second boot against the wall. Then he slumped down on the bench with his head in his hands. For the first time,Danny felt shy,In front of him was a miserable, failed footballer. But he was still the great Keith Connolly. ‘Excuse me,’ he said. Keith Connolly looked up.He didn’t seem surprised to see a stranger in the dressing room.He didn’t even seem to care.‘Excuse me,Mr Connolly-er,sir,-er,Keith,’he said awkwardly.’I’ve brought you some doughnuts.’Chapter8‘Doughnuts!You brought me doughnuts!’Keith Connolly stared so wildly that Danny couldn’t tell if he was furious, or just amazed.‘You said you like them,’he faltered.’ On television, you said you like them.So I’ve brought you some.’Keith Connolly went on staring as if Danny were a blue,three-headed monster. Then Keith laughed.’For three months,I’ve not had a single doughnut, so I’d stay fit. Then, d’you know what the Boss said to me just now?He said he doesn’t want me for next season. He’s putting me on the transfer list.So it won’t matter now if I eat doughnuts, will it?That’s very kind of you, son. What’s your name?’‘Danny,’He opened the box. Those doughnuts looked bigger, stickier and jammier than ever.Keith Connolly gazed at them as if he’d fallen in love.‘You choose first,Danny,’he said.‘No,they’re both for you,’said Danny with a great effort. He wished he’ d eaten more at lunchtime. ‘I’m sorry there’s only two. There should be four. But I gave one to my little brother, and one to the guard dog to keep him quiet.’ Keith Connolly laughed again..‘Just as well,’he said,’I can’t eat more than one at a go. I’ ll eat one if you eat the other, right?’So Danny sat down beside Keith Connolly and they each bit into a doughnut.Keith Connolly closed his eyes, and a blissful smile spread over his face. Then neither of them said anything, except ‘Wow!’ until they were licking jam and sugar from their fingers. Keith told Danny how much he had longed for a doughnut. Danny told Keith all about his family and playing footie at school. They were still talking, when the team came in.Chapter9‘Two rotten nil!’yelled Hack, banging the door.‘You’re useless!’shouted Mack.’Who’s that kid,and what’s the dog doing in here?’Vinny had followed them, looking for Danny. He was hoping to get another doughnut.Danny and the dog were sent out. What Brian had to say to the team wasn’t fit for them to hear. They sat outside and Danny gave Vinny the doughnut box to lick. Then the team ran out for the second half. Danny had never seen a man so changed as Keith Connolly. He looked on fire with energy.‘I hope they bring you on,’said Danny.’I’ll have to get back to my place now.’‘There’s room on the bench,’said Keith.’You can sit by me.’‘Oh,wow!’said Danny. Then everything started to happen. They security guards had been racing all over the stadium. At that moment they both ran in from different directions and walloped into Mack. Vinny thought he should do something on to the pitch, and tripped him up. The two guards and two players lay rolling and shouting on the ground.Vinny trotted away and away and ate the doughnut box. ‘Anyone hurt?’gasped Brian the Boss.‘I’m all right.I landed on him,’said one guard.‘Ouch,’said the other. ‘I’ve broken my leg,’wailed Hack. Hack’s leg wasn’t broken at all,but he wasn’t fit to play.Mack hobbled about and said he could manage.‘I suppose I’ll just have to play you,Keith,’ muttered the Boss.Keith ran onto the pitch with such a great smile, that everyone wondered what had happened to him.Danny, sitting on the bench, was the only one who knew.Chapter10People still talk about the way Keith played that day,Every touch on the ball was a winner. The penalty kick was magic. The run past three defenders was stunning. And the goal that hit the top corner stuck so fast, they had to knock it out with the corner flag.Thirty seconds before the final whistle, one more impossible goal soared in from his left foot.Keith was carried shoulder-high from the pitch.‘Where’s Danny?’he shouted,as they disappeared down the tunnel.Danny ran behind them to the changing room. Then Brian the Boss appeared. The team put Keith down. The Boss took Danny’s collar in one hand and Keith’s in the other as he marched them to his office. ‘Now tell me,’he said.’What’s going on?’So they told him.‘Well,if doughnuts make you play like that, you must have them,’said the Boss.’As long as you don’t eat too many. Say, two a week? I’ll write it into your contract.’‘What contract? You said you were sacking me,’ said Keith.‘Don’t talk so daft.’ The Boss glared at Keith.’ You’re my star player.’‘They have to be doughnuts from the bakery near Danny’s house,’said Keith, smiling.‘And I want two free season tickets, every season, for Danny and his brother.Better make it four,so they can bring their mum and dad. Or a couple of their mates. In the Director’s Box,if that’s what they want .‘Is there anything else you’d like?’said the Boss. ‘Yes,’said Keith.’The Cup.’Did they win the Cup?Of course they did.Keith was on top form, and Danny and Gareth cheered them on .The bakery won the Doughnut of the Year Award. It has queues around the corner, every Saturday morning. But Danny and Keith don’t have to queue.Their doughnuts are delivered to their homes.Keith saw to that.By the way, after Keith scored four goals in that match against Sprint, he was given the match ball to keep. And I don’t need to tell you who he gave it to.

7-1W a l r u s J o i n s I n原文及翻译-CAL-FENGHAI.-(YICAI)-Company One1第一篇原文:Walrus Joins In1What will Walrus do?Everyone at the North Pole was very excited. There was going to be a show and ANYONE could be in it.‘I will do skating,’ said Arctic Fox. ‘I’m good at that!’‘I’ll do tumbling,’ said Polar Bear. ‘No one tumbles quite like me!’‘I’ll do singing,’ said Seal. ‘Everyone says I have a very fine voice!’‘Then I’ll do diving,’ said Whale. ‘I won a prize for diving at school, you know!’They all looked at Walrus. ‘What will YOU do’ they asked. But Walrus was not good at anything. He wasn’t good at skating, and he wasn’t good at tumbling. He was terrible at singing, and when he tried to dive, he always got water up his nose.He sat and chewed his whiskers sadly.‘Never mind,’ said Arctic Fox. ‘You can watch us.’Arctic Fox and Polar Bear and Seal and Whale practised hard for the big show.Walrus hid behind a snowdrift and watched, and chewed his whiskers. He wished he was good at something.2The big nightAt last, the big night arrived. Everyone sat down and waited for the show to begin. Walrus sat in the front row. He was very excited.Fox came onto the ice and bowed. Everyone cheered. Then Fox began to skate. Fox skated forwards and backwards and sideways. She skated in perfect circles and figures of eight. She was elegant and amazing!Walrus watched and he loved what he saw. Fox made it all look so easy.Walrus was sure that if he really tried he could skate just like Fox.He couldn’t stop himself. He just had to leap onto the ice and join in with Fox. “I can skate,” he cried. “Look at me!”But Walrus couldn’t skate at all. He could only trip up and fall over.He bumped into Fox, and Fox went flat on her face. FLOMP!Fox was very upset. “Walrus has RUINED my act,” she wailed.Next, it was Polar Bear’s turn. He rolled out across the ice like a big, white snowball. Everyone clapped wildly. Then Polar Bear began to tumble. He did jumps and spins and somersaults, and stood on his head.Walrus watched and he loved what he saw. Polar Bear made it all look such fun. Walrus was sure that this time, if he really tried, he could tumble just like Polar Bear. All of a sudden, Walrus just couldn’t stop himself, and he leaped onto the ice.“I can tumble too,” he cried. “Look at me!”But Walrus couldn’t tumble at all. He could only trip up and fall over. He tripped up Polar Bear, who came down with a WALLOP!Of course, Polar Bear was pretty angry. “Walrus has RUINED my act,” he wailed.3From bad to worseIt was Seal’s turn next. She gave Walrus a don’t-you-dare stare, and then she started to sing:“O, how many heart rejoices when I see the Northern Lights. My ear is filled with voices sweetly singing in the night!”Walrus listened. What a beautiful song! Surely if he really tried, he could sing as beautifully as SealOh, dear. Walrus just couldn’t stop himself again.“I know that song,” he cried. “I can sing it too!”He leaped up and started singing along with Seal. But Walru s couldn’t sing! He sounded terrible. In fact, he sounded like a rusty old bucket.Seal stopped singing and burst into floods of tears.“Walrus has RUINED my song,” she wailed.Wale was last. He was pretty certain that Walrus could not ruin his act.Whale leaped high out of the water. Then he fell back with an enormous splash!Walrus watched. He wished that he could dive like that. His flippers began to twitch, and his whiskers bristled with excitement. He tried and tried his very best not to join in.But then he had a brilliant idea.“I’ll hold my nose when I dive,” he thought. “Then the water won’t go up it!”Walrus just couldn’t stop himself. He had to join in.“Everybody, look at me!” he cried, as he leaped into the water. “I can dive too!”But just at that moment, Whale was getting ready to spout a big jet of water.WHOOSH!Whale spouted Walrus high into the air!Everyone was watching Walrus now. They clapped and cheered as Walrus landed back in the sea with a SPLOSH!Whale wa s furious. “You are a meddling, incompetent BUFFOON!” he roared. “You have RUINED my act. Now GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!”Whale was pretty scary when he was angry. Walrus turned tail and fled. He hid behind a snowdrift, feeling sad and very sorry.4The show will go on!The show was over. Fox and Polar Bear and Seal and Whale stood in a line, blushing and wishing that Walrus had not ruined everything. But everyone was cheering like mad.“Well done, Polar Bear, well done, Seal! Well done, Fox and Whale!” they shouted. “But where’s the clown Why isn’t he here Where’s Walrus”Behind is snowdrift, Walrus heard the cheers. Were they really cheering for him, too?Yes! They were!He shuffled up to Fox and Polar Bear and Seal And Whale.“I’m very sorry,” he said.“So you should be,” said Fox.“At least everyone thought you were part of the show,” said Polar Bear.“I suppose,” said Seal, “if Walrus was really part of our next show, it couldn’t be any worse.”Walrus was overjoyed. “Me” he cried. “Tr uly Can I be part of the show Can I join in next time”“Yes,” said Whale. “It will bea lot safer that way. You can be the clown. As long as you do it properly.”Walrus practiced hard and became a very good clown indeed. Now he is so good that Fox, Polar Bear, Seal and Whale are glad he is taking part.Sometimes, when Walrus is clowning around, they really just can’t stop themselves. They have to join in too!

”slugs”。
