高中英语作文关于四大名著的推荐信
高中英语作文关于四大名著的推荐信全文共5篇示例,供读者参考篇1Dear High School Students,Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm a 5th grader who loves to read. I know you're all super busy with homework, activities, and trying to have a social life. But I'm here to tell you that you NEED to make time for reading some of the greatest books ever written! You might be thinking, "Tommy, I'm not a little kid anymore.I don't need picture books or silly stories." Trust me, I get it.I used to think the same way. But then I discovered these four amazing novels that totally blew my mind. They're advanced, deep, and cool enough for even you high schoolers! The first book I want to tell you about is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Now, I know what you're thinking - "A romance novel? No way, that's girl stuff!" But just hear me out. Pride and Prejudice is so much more than a cheesy love story. It's a satirical masterpiece that makes fun of the ridiculous rules of British high society in the 1800s. The characters are hilarious, especially theoverly dramatic Mrs. Bennet who is always freaking out about getting her five daughters married off. And the arguments and misunderstandings between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are pure comedic gold. By the end, you'll be rooting for them to finally get together. Plus, this book will help you impress your English teacher with your knowledge of sophisticated literature!Next up is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Yes, that's the book about the crazy scientist who created a monster - but it's not the mindless horror story you're imagining. Frankenstein asks deep questions about what it means to be human, the consequences of playing God, and how societies judge people based on their appearance. Dr. Frankenstein is actually the real monster for abandoning his creation and refusing to take responsibility for his actions. The tragic creature just wants to be loved and accepted despite his frightening looks. Reading this novel gave me a whole new perspective on tolerance and not judging people by superficial traits. It's a classic for a reason! Now let's move on to The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I'll admit, the first few chapters are a little slow as the narrator Nick gets the story going. But then it picks up in a big way with the extravagant parties, shady business dealings, and tragic love stories. This novel is the original tale of American ambition, wealth, and decadence in the 1920s. The mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby throws wildly glamorous parties in his massive mansion, hoping to rekindle his love with his old flame Daisy. Let's just say it doesn't end well for anyone. But the beautiful writing and vivid descriptions of excessive riches and moral decay will stay with you long after finishing the book. You'll better understand how the American Dream often becomes corrupted.Last but not least, I have to recommend To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Right off the bat, this book pulls you into the life of Scout, a young girl witnessing racial injustice and family turmoil in the 1930s Deep South. Her father Atticus is a lawyer defending a Black man falsely accused of a horrible crime, and the trial scenes are truly engrossing. You'll be outraged at the bigotry and closed-mindedness on display. But Scout's innocence reminds you of the simple virtues - courage, integrity, and treating everyone equally. By the end, you'll feel inspired to always strive to see things from someone else's perspective and stand up for what's right, even when it's unpopular. This timeless novel teaches lessons that everyone needs to learn. So there you have it - four amazing, thought-provoking books that I'm confident you'll all love if you give them a chance. They might seem daunting at first, but trust me, you'll get hooked once you dive in. And reading important literature like this will make you smarter, more empathetic, and give you lots to discuss in your English classes. What more could a high schooler want?Your mind will be blown by the wit of Jane Austen, the philosophical depth of Mary Shelley, the haunting portraits of wealth in The Great Gatsby, and the moral guidance of To Kill a Mockingbird. Do yourself a favor and read these classics during your high school years. You'll be glazing your mind with so much intellectual awesomeness!Your Book-Loving Friend,Tommy篇2Dear friends,Hi! My name is Timmy and I'm 10 years old. I love to read books! Reading is so much fun and you can learn lots of cool stuff. My teacher Miss Martin always says reading helps make you smarter. I believe her because she's really smart herself!Anyway, I wanted to tell you about 4 of my absolute favorite books that I think everyone should read. They are classics which means they are really famous and important books that have been around for a long time. Maybe you've heard of them before? The first book I want to tell you about is Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. This book is from Spain and it's seriously hilarious! It's about this old guy named Don Quixote who thinks he's a knight from the medieval times. He gets his neighbor Sancho Panza to be his squire and they go on all these crazy adventures.Don Quixote is always confusing things that are real like windmills for imaginary things like giants. Then he tries to attack and fight the "giants" with his sword! Sancho is always having to talk him down and be the voice of reason. But Don Quixote is just living in his own little fantasy world. It's so silly but that's what makes it so funny and entertaining to read.I feel kind of bad for making fun though, because Don Quixote really seems mentally ill in a way. But I don't think the author is making fun of mentally ill people. It's more highlighting the idea of having an active imagination versus being in touch with reality. Dreaming is cool but you also have to focus onwhat's real! Either way, it's a true classic of literature that everyone should experience. The next classic book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Now this one is pretty different from Don Quixote because it's not a fantasy story at all. Pride and Prejudice is all about romance, social classes, and following (or not following) proper etiquette back in 19th century England. The main characters are Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. At first, Elizabeth thinks Darcy is an arrogant jerk and doesn't like him at all. But then she realizes he's actually a really caring guy once you get to know him. He's just kind of awkward around new people, which is something I can relate to!At the same time, Darcy starts out thinking Elizabeth is beneath his social class but ends up realizing she's an amazing person. So you see, they both have to get over their pride and prejudices about each other before they can fall in love. There's a good lesson in there about not judging people before you know them. What I really like about this book is getting to learn about courting rituals and upper class life from 200 years ago in England. Jane Austen describes the fancy parties and manners so vividly. Her writing makes it all come alive! Plus, who doesn't lovea good love story with some drama and misunderstandings along the way?Okay, time for another really famous one - Moby Dick by Herman Melville. Now I'll be honest, I found some parts of this kinda hard to understand at first. It's narrated by this sailor named Ishmael and it's written in sort of an old-fashioned, complicated way. But my teacher helped me get through the confusing language. The basic story though is really easy to follow and super exciting! Moby Dick is this giant, legendary white sperm whale that attacked and bit off the leg of the grizzled old Captain Ahab. So Ahab goes on this crazy quest to hunt down Moby Dick and get his revenge. He's obsessed with it and puts his whole crew at risk because of his selfish desire for vengeance. There's incredible action scenes with Ahab and his crew harpooning regular whales and processing their blubber. And when they finally do battle with Moby Dick himself, oh man, it's just insane! People are getting tossed off the ship, the whale is smashing everything. It felt like I was watching an awesome blockbuster movie in my mind. But there's a sad ending that makes you realize how Ahab's obsession and hunger for revenge destroys him and takes downhis whole crew with him. I think the lesson is that obsession and vengeance are bad and can consume you if you're not careful. Moderation in everything!Last but definitely not least, I have to talk about The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This one gives you a fascinating look at the lives of wildly rich people in 1920s New York. The narrator is a guy named Nick Carraway, but the central character is a mysterious millionaire named Jay Gatsby.Gatsby is super wealthy but nobody really knows where he got all his money from. He's obsessed with this girl named Daisy who is married to another guy. Gatsby throws these incredibly lavish parties just hoping Daisy will show up to one of them!As the story goes on, you learn that Gatsby and Daisy actually had a thing years ago before he went off to war. But then they split and she ended up marrying this other guy who came from an old money family. So now Gatsby wants to win Daisy back by making her see he's incredibly rich and successful now too.I don't want to give away too much, but it gets pretty dramatic and tragic as Gatsby's obsession with the idea of being with Daisy gets further and further from reality. The book showshow money really can't buy happiness, even if you have all the riches in the world. At its core though, The Great Gatsby is a beautiful love story about a man who lives his entire life in pursuit of his one true love who represents his idea of the "American Dream." I think it really captures the spirit of the Roaring 20s too with all the jazz, parties, and overindulgence. Definitely a must-read classic!Well, those are four classics that I absolutely love and I truly believe everyone should read. They've given me so many things to think about like the power of imagination, not judging others, the dangers of obsession and vengeance, the downsides of wealth, and more.I hope I've convinced you to pick up one of these incredible books soon! Thanks for reading my letter. Happy reading, everyone!Your friend,Timmy篇3The Four Greatest Books Ever!Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you about the four bestest books in the whole wide world. These books are really, really old, but they are still awesome sauce and you just have to read them! The first book is called Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes. It's about this guy named Don Quixote who thinks he's a knight. He gets a beat up old helmet and tries to go on adventures to save princesses and fight evil dudes. But the thing is, he's not really a knight at all! He's just a regular person who has lost his marbles.Don Quixote does all kinds of crazy things because he doesn't understand how the world really works. Like one time he thought these windmills were actually evil giants trying to attack him, so he charged at them on his horse and got totally creamed. His sidekick Sancho Panza has to try to keep him out of trouble, but Don Quixote just keeps doing wackier and wackier things. This book is a riot! You'll be laughing your head off at the silly stuff Don Quixote does. But it's also kind of sad, because you feel bad for the guy since he's so mixed up in his own little fantasy world. It makes you think about what's real and what's not. Definitely one of the funniest books I've ever read though!Next up is Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift. This one is about a guy named Gulliver who goes on all these crazy adventures to imaginary lands. The first place he visits is Lilliput, where all the people are only six inches tall! Gulliver is a giant compared to them, so they have to tie him down with ropes and stuff when he arrives. In Lilliput, Gulliver gets mixed up in the kingdom's politics and wars, which is pretty hilarious since the Lilliputians are so tiny. Later on, he goes to other wacky places like Brobdingnag, where the people are huge giants, and the islands of Laputa and Balnibarbi, which are home to these really dumb scientists and people. My favorite part is when Gulliver arrives in the country of the Houyhnhnms, where the horses are the super intelligent ones who run everything, and the humans are just gross Yahoo animals who go around on all fours. It's a strange world turned upside down! This book is full of funny satire that makes fun of human nature and points out how silly and irrational people can be sometimes. But it has plenty of cool adventures and crazy scenarios too that make it a rollicking good time. The third book is Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Now this one isn't funny at all - it's actually really sad and serious. It's about this poor little orphan boy named Oliver Twist who has togrow up in these awful workhouses and orphanages in London during the 1800s.Oliver gets treated so badly by the people running these places. They barely give him any food and they work him to the bone doing hard labor. One time Oliver got in trouble just for asking for a little bit more gruel at dinnertime! Can you believe that? The people running the workhouses are so cruel and heartless.Eventually Oliver escapes and runs away to London, but he gets taken in by a gang of pickpockets and con artists led by this greedy jerk named Fagin. Oliver doesn't want to be a criminal, but he doesn't really have any choice if he wants to survive on the harsh streets. There's lots of drama and plot twists as Oliver tries to make his way in the world. This book really shows you how difficult life could be for poor children back in those days. Reading about all the awful things that happen to Oliver just breaks your heart. But Oliver never loses hope, and you'll be rooting for him to finally find a loving family by the end. It's a classic tear-jerker for sure!Last but not least is War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. I know what you're thinking - this book is ginormous! Over a thousandpages long! But trust me, it's an epic adventure that's totally worth reading.War and Peace takes place in Russia during the time of the Napoleonic Wars in the early 1800s. It follows the lives of two aristocratic families, the Bolkonskys and the Bezukhovs, as well as the involved lives of Napoleon and the Russian nobles. There's so much going on - huge battle scenes with cannons and horses, high society parties in Moscow and St. Petersburg, tragic love stories, personal dramas between the characters. It's like a crazy historical soap opera that sweeps you away into a different world. My favorite characters are definitely the idealistic Prince Andrei Bolkonsky and the rambunctious Natasha Rostova. You get to follow their lives and struggles through all the ups and downs. There's also deep philosophical stuff about the role of free will versus destiny that really makes you think.Even though War and Peace is super long, it moves along at a pretty quick clip thanks to all the exciting events and plot twists. You'll get invested in all the characters' lives and you won't be able to put it down until you find out what ultimately happens to them. It's an unforgettable masterpiece for sure!So those are my top four book recommendations - the wildly imaginative Don Quixote, the satirical adventure Gulliver's Travels, the heartbreaking but inspiring Oliver Twist, and the sweeping epic masterpiece War and Peace. I know they're considered classic literature and they're pretty old, but trust me, these books are fantastic stories that anyone would enjoy! With colorful characters, exciting events, deep themes about human nature, and just rollicking good tales, these four novels are the complete package. They've stood the test of time for a reason - they are the greatest books ever written! So put down those video games or whatever, and get reading these amazing classics. You'll thank me later!篇4Dear High School Students,Hi there! My name is Emma and I'm in 5th grade. I really love reading books, especially classic novels. Today I want to tell you about four of my all-time favorite books that I think you guys should totally read in high school. They're considered great classics for a reason - the stories are amazing and they teach you so much about life. I had to read some parts really slowly to understand, but it was worth it. Let me tell you about each book! The first book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It's a super romantic story that takes place a long time ago in England. The main character is Elizabeth Bennet, who is really smart and sassy. At first, she thinks Mr. Darcy is this stuck-up rich jerk. But as the story goes on, she realizes he's actually a really caring guy deep down. It's fun watching their friendship turn into something more as they keep misunderstanding each other. There's also a lot of funny side characters like Elizabeth's silly mom who just wants to marry off her daughters. I loved how witty Elizabeth is and how she stands up for herself. The book shows that you shouldn't judge people before getting to know them. It's full of big fancy words, but you'll pick them up as you read. Give it a chance!Another awesome book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. It's told from the perspective of a little girl named Scout living in the American South in the 1930s. Her dad, Atticus Finch, is a lawyer defending a Black man wrongly accused of a crime. I was shocked by the racist people and injustice in the story, but Atticus teaches Scout and his son Jem so many great lessons about courage, empathy and doing the right thing. He's one of the coolest dads ever! Scout is such a spunky kid too - I loved her sense of humor and adventures with her friend Dill. This book shows what life was like back then while tackling really deepissues. It reminds you to "walk around in someone's skin" to understand them. Have tissues ready because some parts are a tearjerker. My next pick is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. The narrator is Holden Caulfield, a teenager who gets kicked out of his fancy boarding school. Instead of going home right away, he explores New York City alone for a few days. Holden is literally the most sarcastic person ever, but in a hilarious way. He has a lot of insightful thoughts about "phonies" and superficial people.I could relate to him feeling lost and disliking the pressures of growing up. His adventures wandering around the city are both funny and a little sad. He curses a lot so be prepared for that. But underneath his tough voice, you'll see Holden really cares about kids' innocence and struggles with loneliness. This book is different from others you'll read, capturing the mind of a modern teen way back when.Lastly, I have to recommend The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It's set in the 1920s during the "Jazz Age" when people were rich and went to tons of parties. The main guy is Nick Carraway who moves next door to a mysterious millionaire named Gatsby. Gatsby throws these insane parties hoping his lost love Daisy will show up. The bad boy Tom is Daisy's arroganthusband. I was on the edge of my seat watching all the drama unfold between them! There's also cool minor characters like the creepy eyes on a billboard. On the surface, it's about love and wealth. But it also shows how money can't buy happiness and how society lacks morals. I thought the descriptions of old New York were fascinating. The language is challenging with symbolism everywhere. But it's beautiful and tragic at the same time.So those are my top picks - a romance, a судrue story, a teen rebellion book and a Jazz Age drama. They're considered masterpieces for a good reason. I had to look up words, read passages twice and think hard. But in the end, the deeper meaning and life lessons made me glad I put in the effort. I cried, laughed out loud and questioned my own views. These classics show that even though times change, the struggles of identity, morality and relationships humans face never do. They gave me so many thoughts to discuss!I hope I've convinced you to at least give one of these a try. Don't be intimidated - old books are only hard until you get used to the language. If you put your mind to it, I know you smart high schoolers can appreciate why they're considered required reading. Losing yourself in a great story from the past maysurprise you. Let me know which book was your favorite or any other recommendations! Happy reading!Your Friend,Emma篇5Dear Friends,Hi there! My name is Tommy and I'm a 10-year-old boy who loves reading books. Today, I want to tell you about four really awesome books that you simply must read. They are called the "Four Great Classical Novels" and they are super cool! The first book is called "Dream of the Red Chamber" and it's from China. It's about this huge family called the Jias who live in a fancy garden in Beijing. There are so many characters in the book, but my favorite is Lin Daiyu. She's a beautiful and talented young lady, but she's also really sad and sickly. The book talks about her love story with Baoyu, who is from the Jia family. It's a tragic romance, but it's also really deep and has a lot of philosophy about life and Buddhism. I cried at the end, but it's still an amazing book! The second book is "The Tale of Genji" from Japan. It's about this super handsome prince called Genji who has a ton of love affairs. He falls in love with different women all the time, and there's a lot of drama and heartbreak. But the book is also really beautiful and poetic, describing the four seasons and the elegant lifestyle of the imperial court. My favorite part is when Genji gets exiled from the capital and has to live in the countryside. It's like a romantic adventure! The third book is "The Decameron" and it's from Italy. It's actually a collection of 100 short stories told by a group of people who escaped Florence during the Black Death plague. The stories are meant to be funny and entertaining, and some of them are pretty raunchy too! There are tales about unfaithful wives, clever tricks, and all sorts of crazy situations. My favorite story is about a guy who pretends to be deaf and mute to trick his wife's lover. It's hilarious! The last book is "Don Quixote" from Spain. It's about this old guy named Alonso Quixano who reads too many books about knights and chivalry, and he loses his mind. He starts calling himself "Don Quixote" and goes on crazy adventures, fighting windmills and trying to rescue imaginary damsels in distress. His loyal friend Sancho Panza goes with him, and they get into allsorts of hilarious misadventures. The book is super funny, but it also makes you think about dreams, reality, and what it means to be crazy or sane.So those are the four great classical novels that I really, really love. They are all super old books from different countries, but they are still incredibly interesting and fun to read. They teach you about history, culture, philosophy, and human nature in a really entertaining way. I hope you'll give them a try and let me know what you think! Reading is the best!Your friend,Tommy。
