教师出示一些学生已学过的场所的图片，学生说一说他们知道的地点词汇，同时教师提问：What can we buy in a grocery/supermarket? What can we do in a park/ bookshop? 这些问题能激活学生对一些公共场所功能的认知，自然过渡到A项的学习。
2. 正式进入A项学习。
(1) 呈现A项四幅图片中的一幅，问问学生：What places are they? 学生如果知道可以说一说，例如：A drugstore.(2) 教师在学生初步了解新的场所名称后，对学生说：Now let’s read a passage about a drugstore. What can we do in a drugstore?(3) 学生带着问题阅读第一段关于药方的短文。
看后与同桌互相议一议，分享各自的阅读收获。
(4) 教师请若干学生回答阅读前提出的问题，还可以就学生提出的一些问题进行解答。
(5) 用同样的方法，请学生独立阅读A项另外三个短文，借助图片猜测hairdresser’s, coffee shop, gas station的意思，并初步了解每个短文的大意。
(6) 学习四个短文。
教师可以通过提问：What can we do in a hairdresser’s/drugstore/coffee shop/ gas station?帮助学生了解这几个场所的功能。

1. 热身活动。
(1) 教师可以带领学生演唱二年级上册第四单元In the Community的歌曲，复习以前学过的有关场所的词汇，为接下来的学习做准备。

S6: I can see Yaoya o’s home.
T: Oh, yes. Yaoyao’s home is in the picture. Today, Yaoyao’s aunt comes to visit her family. Let’s listen to their dialogue. What are they mainly talking about? You can make notes while listening.
(3) 播放录音材料，学生在情景中整体感知新语言。
教师提出问题，学生做回答。
T: What is Yaoyao showing her aunt?
S1: She is showing her a post office.
T: What else?
S2: Her school.
S3: A restaurant.
S4: Her home.
T: Is Yaoyao showing her aunt her home?
Ss: No, she isn’t.
T: So Yaoyao is showing her aunt around the neighbourhood.
将单词neighbourhood板书在黑板上，下面留出空间，为下一步板书做好准备。
(4) 再次播放录音材料，请学生关注Yaoyao和她的姨妈都谈论了社区中的哪些地方，引出新词汇的学习。
教师提出问题和要求：What’s in the neighbourhood? Listen again and circle the places you hear in the tape on the picture.
(5) 学生带着问题再次听录音，并圈出听到的场所名词。
(6) 核对答案。
教师先让学生同桌间互相核对答案，并将听到的场所名词在图中相应位置上圈出来。
然后全班核对答案。
(7) 学习表示地点的新词汇。
播放新词汇的原声录音，学生尝试跟读新词汇。
新词汇学习
restaurant：源自法语，发音与拼写有些难度，教学重点可放在这两方面。
近义词dining room可做联想、以旧带新的教学用途：post office这是个合成名词，建议作为词块整体教学，辅助记忆；对学习程度好的学生，可将post和office分别讲解、教学。
bank：这个词的音、形、义都很好掌握，这个词使用频率较高，对学习程度好的学生可从词汇的同形异词与异义等方面加以引导，增强词汇教学的趣性，多向性。
比如：呈现给学生一个谜语，What’s the poorest bank in the world?谜底：The river bank.
grocery：这个词的音与形掌握起来有一定难度，教学可以关注这两点。
可用近义词shop, supermarket, bookshop等进行辨析与造句练习，帮助学生记忆、理解、运用这个单词。
(8) 学习表示方位的词汇最好的教学的方式就是将这些方位词放在一起：用形象直观的形式，使学生较能运用这些词汇，比如可以借助主题图、教师课前准备的简易地图，让学生理解方位词的意思；也可以通过手势让学生理解词义；还可以通过教室中学生可见的物品、设施的相对位置关系，引导学生通过描述这些物品与设施相对的位置关系，来帮助学生较为集中地接触到这样的词汇与句型，逐步熟悉其用法。
(9) 对程度好的学生，可以将听力进行修改，加入生词，重新让学生听一遍录音，让学生在情景中再次体会自己是否真正掌握了刚才所学的词汇。
此时有疑问，可以向教师提出，大家共同讨论、解决，鼓励学生自我检验学习效果。
下列听力文本供参考：
Binbin’s uncle comes to visit his family. Binbin is showing him around the
neighbourhood.
Binbin: Look, this is a post office. Our library is next to it.
Uncle: Oh, I see. What’s that?
Binbin: That’s a grocery fruit and vegetables th ere. We also have a restaurant in the neighbourhood. We can eat Beijing duck there. It’s across from the bank.
Uncle: I want to buy some gifts. Is there a supermarket here?
Binbin: Yes, sure. It is between the bookshop and the cinema.
B. Look and say.
1. 请学生仔细观察B项图片，说说街区中都有哪些场所。
也可以通过课件或挂图呈现图片，并用连线或者画线路图的方式，突出呈现方位关系。
可以通过以下描述帮助学生熟悉街区图，如：The hospital is across from Baiyun Park. Sunday Park is across from the cinema.
2. 鼓励学生造更多的句子，并用到词汇框中的词。
学生分两人小组进行造句竞赛，然后在全班内展示。
3. 学生两人一组进行更高难度的信息差活动。
一个学生观察B项图片并提问，另一个学生观察第76页图片并回答；提问的学生听完对方的回答后，根据听到的回答找到每个地点的位置，可以在相应的位置写下单词，或者写首字母。
然后互换角色进行练习。
4. 请学生两人一组在全班展示，并选出表现优秀的小组。
C. Let’s write.
1. 先请学生读一读所给的问句，然后根据B项街区图中银行的方位口头回答。
2. 教师在四线三格上示范书写，然后学生在课本上完成书写练习。
3. 教师可以多提出几个问题，让学生根据B项街区图写出答句。
4. 将A项听力文本，挖掉关键词，或者关键句，让学生将所缺部分填写在四线三格里。
不必拘泥原听力文本的内容，鼓励学生多填写生词。
