2023版新教材高考英语一轮总复习Unit4单元主题训练新人教版选择性必修第一册(含答案)

2023版新教材高考英语一轮总复习:UNIT 4 单元主题训练Ⅰ.阅读理解2022·广州质检When my 8-month-old cries, I ask him if he's hungry, or wet or just needs a hug.“Babububuu,” he says. What I need is a baby cry translator. That's just what a team of researchers say they've developed.“Experienced nurses or pediatricians (儿科医师) can identify why baby is crying because they have experience,”says Lichuan Liu, a professor of electrical engineering at Northern Illinois University, who conducted the research. “We talked to them, and they mentioned that based on the cry's sound there're some clues (线索).”So Liu set out to identify the features of cries that can help mark them as expressions of pain or discomfort. These features include differences in pitch (音高) and frequency. The team then developed an algorithm (算法) based on automatic speech recognition to detect and identify these features. This “cry language recognition algorithm” was trained on recordings of baby cries taken from a hospital. It uses compressed sensing, a process that reconstructs a signal based on incomplete data. It can identify a baby's cry against a background of, say, adult speech or loud television sounds. By classifying different cry features, like pitch, the algorithm can suggest whether the cry is due to sickness or pain, and identify the degree of urgency. The team had experienced pediatric care providers assess forty-eight baby cry recordings for probable cause of crying — hunger, tiredness, etc. They then compared these to the algorithm's assessments. The algorithm agreed with the humans 70% of the time. Generally, so-called “uncommon cry signals”— signs of pain or sickness — are high-pitched and very loud compared to ordinary crying.Liu and her team continue to train the technology for greater accuracy. They also plan to add more features, like the ability to identify and classify movement and facial expressions. This could help give a more detailed reading of baby's emotional (情感的) and physical state. They also hope to begin human trials in the near future.语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文。

The lake, which dates back some 3.4 billion years, appears to have covered as much as 80 square miles and was up to 1,500 feet deep, said the team from the University of Colorado.“This is the first clear evidence of shorelines on the surface of Mars,” said Boulder's research associate, Gaetano Di Achille, in a study published in the latest edition of Geophysical Research Letters.“The identification of the shorelines and accompanying geological evidence allows us to calculate the size and volume of the lake, which appears to have formed about 3.4 billion years ago.”Analysis of the images has shown the water carved out the canyon(溪谷) in which it was found, which then opened out into a valley depositing(使淤积) sediment(沉积物) which formed a delta(三角洲).“Finding shorelines is a great d iscovery to us”, said assistant professor Brian Hynek, adding it showed the lake existed at a time when Mars was thought to have been cold and dry.Scientists believe the oldest surfaces on Mars formed during the wet and warm era known as the Noachan epoch, about 4.1 billion to 3.7 billion years ago.The newly discovered lake is believed to date from the Hesperian era and postdates the end of the warm and wet period on Mars by 300 million years, according to the study.Scientist s believe deltas next to the lake may well hold secrets about past life on Mars as such places on Earth have become the natural deposits of organic carbon and other markers of life.16.The size of the lake found on Mars is ________.A.80 square milesB.1,500 square milesC.3.4 billion square milesD.300 million square miles17.When the lake existed, the weather on Mars was ________.A.hot and wet B.wet and warmC.cold and dry D.cold and wet18.Why do scientists think deltas near the lake may hold secrets about past life on Mars?A.Because similar places on Earth have become natur al deposits of markers of life. When I first moved to Thailand, it was much more difficult to buy second-hand books but now it’s easy. There are many used book shops in Bangkok. If you lik e to read and don’t want to spend money on new books, why not check out these Bangkok second-hand bookstores? Chatuchak Market—Chatuchak Market is a great place to buy second-hand books, as well as coffee table books, art and design books, books on architecture and travel books. Prices start as low as $1.30, and you can bargain, especially if you buy several books.Dasa Book Café—Dasa Book Café is one of my favorite book shops. Not only does it have a great selection of used books but the atmosphere at Dasa Book Cafe is lovely too. It has around 12,000 books, with some books from Germany, France, Italy etc. Dasa is also very well organized, unlike a lot of used book stores in Bangkok, so it’s very easy to find what you want. It also buys or exchanges books from customers, so if you’ve got books you no longer want, take them with you.Elite Book House—Elite Book House is one of the other popular used book stores in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. Its selection is average but the prices are good and it’s been a round for over 20 years. Elite has many fiction books, travel books, and an interesting collection of history and biographies. The only thing I don’t like about Elite Book House is their staff have always been unfriendly, which is unusual for Thailand. Angel Tomorrow—More like a warehouse-type(仓储式的) of shop than a straight used book store, it’s a bit disorganized. It is only open on weekends, but the prices are a little high and with around 40,000 second-hand books in stock, you’ll find all kinds of unusua l books here. It has an excellent selection of children’s books, fiction, business, text books and more. Nice staff too.36. If you want to buy some cheaper used books you’d better visit .A. Chatuchak MarketB. Do you like green tea or black tea? Well, a few cups of green tea each day may help you prevent heart disease, Greek researchers said. A new study shows health benefits from drinking green tea which can reduce the risk of cancers and other diseases. The study shows that green tea can improve the flow of blood and the ability of arteries (动脉) to relax, said Charalambos Vlachopoulos, an expert at the Athens Medical School in Greece who worked on the study.Other studies have shown black tea can also benefit heart health. Flavonoids are also found in cocoa, tomatoes and grapes.“This is the first study to show these effects of green tea,” Vlachopoulos said. “A couple of cups a day will probably help people to keep healthy.”The researchers gave 14 healthy volunteers green tea, coffee or hot water on three situations and then measured the effects of endothelial cells (内皮细胞) in the circulatory system.
