2021-2022年高一英语4月月考试题(VIII)

2021-2022年高一英语4月月考试题(VIII)第二部分阅读理解(每小题2分,共40分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,共30分)On the 25th of January three years ago, my uncle, my cousin, and I went to the desert to hunt. It was the hunting season. My uncle was 72 years old, but he was still strong. My cousin at that time was 10 years old, and I was 25.It took us three hours by car to reach the place we were looking for, and we arrived there at 5:15 p.m. That night we ate our food, drank Arabic coffee, and sat around the fire talking until 10:30. Then we went to bed.We left camp the next day at 7 o’clock in the morning. We went north and caught two kinds of birds. However, we got into trouble at 10:00 a.m. when our car got stuck in the sand! We spent about three hours trying to pull the car out without any success. Finally, we decided to walk. I talked with my uncle about how hard it was for an old man or a young boy to walk more than 40 kilometers in the desert. He agreed with me. So I took a bottle of water with me and started to return alone. Luckily, I met a man who was riding his camel. He took me to his house. When I had had enough rest, I asked him to take me to the road and he did. Soon, I found a car which took me to the city to get help. I had one day to get back to my uncle and cousin. We were so happy to see each other again. We learned from the experience that the desert is dangerous, but we will never give up hunting.21. It can be inferred that the author _____.A. lived by huntingB. lived by raising birdsC. loved hunting very muchD. loved raising birds very much22. Why did the author walk out of the desert alone?A. Because the other two were too weak to walk.B. Because it was a hard journey for the other two.C. Because there was not enough water left.D. Because the other two had to stay with their car.23. The three people left the desert safely most probably on _____.A. the 26th of JanuaryB. the 27th of JanuaryC. the 29th of JanuaryD. the 30th of JanuaryBIt’s not easy growing up. Growing up can be a real “pain” for some of us. We are always doing things that someone else makes us do and aren’t allowed to do all the things we like. Sometimes we feel sad, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don’t understand why we can’t stay young forever. But we should take a look back on all the hardships (苦难) in life with a positive attitude and learn from them. We should realize that all of our growing pains actually turn into growing gains!Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these obstacles keep us from following our dreams. We must overe every obstacle one small step at a time.As a young girl, my parents forced me to do so many things that I didn’t like. They made me learn to play the violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music and I also hated them. But looking back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched (丰富) my life in so many ways. I now realize that my parents and teachers wanted me to have a better life than they did themselves. We are all going to experience growing pains, but they are just part of our life. Think about how we would feel if we had no challenges and lived a life like that. Life would be really boring and meaningless. The future is ours! A little hard work and sweat never hurt anyone! If we realize that these pains are just small bumps (碰撞) on our road to success, we will realize that ourgrowing pains are actually growing gains!24. What would be the best title for this passage?A. No pains, no gainsB. Growing pains and gainsC. Growing up is a painD. Growing up is easy25. The underlined word “obstacles” (in Paragraph 2) refers to things that _____.A. make it easy for you to do sthB. make it difficult for you to do sthC. make you happyD. make you full of energy26. What does the author now think about what her parents did for her in the past?A. She is angry with them.B. She is dissatisfied with them.C. She is thankful to them.D. She couldn’t forgive them.27. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?A. Growing pains are part of our life.B. Our growing pains will finally turn into growing gains.C. We should stop when facing many challenges.D. Life without challenges is boring and meaningless.CIf you think American cooking means opening a package and throwing the contents into the microwave oven (微波炉), think again. On the one hand, it’s true that many Americans have cold cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and instant (方便的) dinners. From busy homemakers to working people, many Americans enjoy the convenience (方便) of fast food that can be ready to serve in 10 minutes or less. On the other hand, many Americans realize the importance of cooking skills. Parents — especially mothers — see the importance of training their children — especially daughters. Most Americans think that there’s nothing better than a good home-cooked meal. But with cooking, as with any other skill, good results don’t happen by accident.Probably every cook has his or her own way of cooking. But there are some basic skills that most people follow. For example, baking is a main method (方法) of preparing food in America. For that reason, Americans would find it next to impossible to live without an oven. American cooks pay special attention to the balance of foods, too. In planning a big meal they try to include meat, a few vegetables, some bread and often a dessert. They also like to make sure the meal is colorful. Having several different colors of food on the plate usually makes for a healthy meal. For those who need guidance in their cooking, or for those who have just run out of ideas, recipes are a great help. Recipes list all the ingredients for a dish (generally in the order used), the amount of each to use, and a description of how to put them together.28. This passage mainly tells us that ______.A. Americans usually have fast food, but they pay special attention to cooking as wellB. without an oven, Americans find it impossible to live convenientlyC. Americans pay special attention to recipes and nutritious mealsD. Americans like to have several different colors of food on the plate29. Many Americans have cold cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and instant dinner because ______.A. they like instant food very muchB. they don’t like cooking at allC. most American working people are busy and don’t have time to cookD. fast food is delicious and it usually contains a lot of vitamins30. By saying “But with cooking, as with any other skill, good results don’t happen by accident”, the author means ______.A. good cooking doesn’t e easily; it needs a lot of practiceB. just like any other skill, cooking may bring good resultsC. cooking es from one’s gift, not through practiceD. cooking can lead to accidents31. From the passage, we know that ______.A. Americans don’t care about foodB. I also love my laptop puter, as it holds all of my writing and thoughts .Despite this love of technology, I know that there are times when I need to move away from these devices and truly municate with others. On occasion, I teach a course called History Matters for a group of higher education managers. My goals for the class include a full discussion of historical themes and ideas .Because I want students to thoroughly study the material and exchange their ideas with each other in the classroom, I have a rule—no laptop, iPads, phones, etc. When students were told my rule in advance of the class ,some of them were not happy. Most students assume that my reasons for this rule include unpleasant experiences in the past with students misusing technology. There's a bit of truth to that. Some students assume that I am anti—technology. There's on truth in that at all. I love technology and try to keep up with it so I can relate to my students. The real reason why I ask students to leave technology at the door is that I think there are very few places in which we can have deep conversions and truly engage plex ideas. Interruptions by technology often break concentration and allow for too much dependence on outside information for ideas. I want students to dig deep within themselves for inspiration and ideas. I want them to push each other to thinkdifferently and make connections between the course the material and the class discussion.I’ve been teaching my class in this way for many years and the evaluations reflect student satisfaction with the environment that I create. Students realize that with deep conversation and challenge, they learn at a level that helps them keep the course material beyond the classroom.I’m not saying that I won’t ever change my mind about technology use in my history class, but until I hear a really good reason for the change ,I’m sticking to my plan.A hours of technology-free dialogue is just too sweet to give up.28. His name was Mr.Basille .He wore a white cap and drove a white truck. As a 5-year-old boy, I couldn´t take my eyes off the coin changer fixed to his belt. He noticed this one day during a delivery and gave me a quarter out of his coin changer.Of course, he delivered more than milk. There was cheese, eggs and so on. If we needed to change our order, my mother would pen a note-“Please add a bottle of buttermilk next delivery”-and place it in the box along with the empty bottles .And then, the buttermilk would magically appear. All of this was about more than convenience. There existed a close relationship between families and their milkmen. Mr.Basille even had a key to our house, for those times when it was so cold outside that we put the box indoors, so that the milk wouldn ´t freeze. And I remember Mr. Basille from time to time taking a break at our kitchen table, having a cup of tea and telling stories about his delivery. There is sadly no home milk delivery today. Big panies allowed the production of cheaper milk thus making it difficult for milkmen to pete. Besides, milk is for sale everywhere, and it may just not have been practiced to have a delivery service. Recently, an old milk box in the countryside I saw brought back my childhood memories.I took it home and planted it on the back porch. Every so often my son´s friends will ask what it is. So I start telling stories of my boyhood, and of the milkman who brought us friendship along with his milk.32.Mr.Basille gave the boy a quarter out of his coin changer.A. to show his magical powerB. to pay for the deliveryC .to please his mother D. to satisfy his curiosity33.What can be inferred from the fact that the milkman had the key to the boy´s house?A.
