It was reported that a 21-year-old university student stabbed a young woman to death after knocking her down. Soon, this matter sparked hot furor among public. His behavior urges us to think what qualities we university students should have.

First of all, integrity is one of the basic characters that university students can never do away with. One who always keeps his promise or value it as the most important policy can get the peace in heart and good reputation, which will lead him to a bright future. Besides, no one will be willing to make friends with a dishonest man.

Secondly, responsibility is an important character that university students can by no means neglect it. As an adult, we still use our par ents’ money to pay our tuition fees。At the same time, we can enjoy a number of privilege and reputation in society. As far as I’m concerned, we can’t take them for granted. We should bear gratification in our minds and try our best to repay our parents and the whole society.

Last but not least, kindness is also an essential character for university students. Nowadays, we have little chance to talk with someone heart to heart, even with our families, needless to say strangers. As a result, most people are becoming indifferent to each other, even though to those who are suffering from trouble. University students are the future of the whole society, and we should this task to make our society better.

In conclusion, university students should all be real “well-educated” and live up to our good reputation. University students should not only lat emphasis on knowledge cultivation but also on moral cultivation.

American TV Show Is Important to Me

Have you ever seen a TV show called The Big Bang Theory? From the small group of people—Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Haward and Raj, I learned a lot, I laughed at their stupid behaviors and also I was touched by their friendship. My topic is American TV Show Is Important to Me. Some people may ask “How important?” Well, I chose to major in E nglish because of American TV show, and it gave me a chance to get to know a new culture.

I began to watch American TV show at a very early age. I can still remember the excited feeling when I watched the Family Album USA. In the first episode, Mr. Stuart told Elisadra Papps “Hey, you. W elcome to New Y ork!” Ow, believe me, it sounded amazing. And I realized that English should be spoken like that and how beautiful it was. At that time, I can only understand a small part of their conversations, which did not frustrate me at all. On the contrary, it made English a mysterious language. When I grew up, I chose to major in English, because I could not forget how amazing this language sounded when I watched the Family Album USA.

Next thing that I learned from American TV show is the American culture. The TV show Pretty Little Liars impressed me most. This TV series is a teenager show. I realized that the lifestyles of Americans are different from Chinese people. From the leading actors, I got to know what is “standing on one’s own feet”. Chinese kids tend to rely on their parents and they believe that it is the responsibility of the parents to take care of them. But I can see from the TV show, things are really different in the US. And I hope in the near future, I c an say that “I pay for everything I need in this world and I do not rely on anybody! That’s cool.

Sometimes, I wonder whether Americans do the exact same things as the actors do in the TV show. So I talked with my foreign teachers. Sometimes, they said, “N o, of course not. There is a huge difference between TV show and real life.” Some of them said “Y es, we do things like that.” American TV series gave me a good material to talk about with foreign friends, and it is also interesting to talk about different cultures.

American TV series mean a lot to me. I regard it as my best friend as well as an interesting teacher. Because of American TV show, I got the chance to study in this department and meet all my dear classmates. If you have leisure time, if you are interested in American lifestyle, and if you are impressed by the American spirit, why don’t you take a look at the American TV series?

Microblog

Recently, Microblog, as the most fashionable communication tool of the Internet, has been popular among people of different age. However, it also sparks heated discussion .Many people argue that the microblog reveals our secrets which may cause unnecessary troubles. As far as I’m concerned, I think its advantages overweigh its disadvantages.

Firstly, microblog provides a good stage for us to express our true feelings and emotions so that we can be released from pressure. We use net names on that and no one will know who we are if we don’t give the website our private information. Another important reason why microblog comes into being is that we have too many friends on QQ and Renren where we can’t express our emotions freely. So, microblog really br ings us a good way to express. I remember once I had some contradictions with my friend and I wrote it on the microblog. In a short time, many unfamiliar online friends comforted me and gave me a lot of advices to solve the problem which made me feel better soon.

Secondly, microblog helps the ordinary people who need our help. Most of the mass media have their microblog and have special employees waiting in front of the computer for news material. What’s more, ordinary people also play important parts in the grassroots’ world .For example, a very typical and hot activity----helping street children who were ensnared and sold by kidnappers to find their own parents, has draw lots of microblog users’ attention. They share\ the news written by those worried parents who are eager for their last children and many children have already been found in this way.

Thirdly, microblog provides a good way for the communication between stars and fans .In the past, the mass media is the only way for us to know news of those stars. As a result, we were often informed of false information .But this situation has been changed by microblog. Many entertainers have their microblog and they are also crazy about putting their daily photos and interesting news on that. For example, the famous “Queen of microblog” Y aoChen is the craziest one and she has already become the top stars who have the most fans online all over the world. Also, our fans can express their love, supports and share their secrets with their idols. For example, Selina, a lovely girl who is a member of the popular band, suffered a lot since the last October. She was severely injured when she worked in Shanghai. Since then, billions of fans on the microblog expressed their best wishes to her and encouraged her all the time.

In a conclusion, although the microblog has some disadvantages, it really brings us lots of benefits .Hope the Microblog have a brilliant future.

Three Types of University Students

It is generally believed that in China, if one can pass the College Entrance Examination, it means he has become a university student. Therefore, here comes the question: what is a qualified university student? According to their daily behavior and my personal experience, I have divided them into three types.

It can not deny that there are a large amount of students as same as what I will say next. They seem to have nothing to worry about everyday. All that they care about is how to skip class, how to play well as well as how to make themselves outstanding by way of expensive clothes or eccentric behavior. In addition to that, there are some who are indulged in computer games all day and all night long, which is both time losing and money losing . They seldom attend class, let alone finishing teachers' homework. When the final exam comes, it also the busiest time of their school year, they try their best to pass the exam, which is useless at the most of times. With view to their daily behavior，I regard them as grade-three students. They are the ones who are aimless everyday and have rarely thought about their future life. Exactly speaking, they are not mature both physically and mentally.

Compared with grade-three students, grade-two students tend to be more hard-working. They seldom skip classes, that is to say, they spend most of their time studying. To some degree, they are obedient students. They always do as what the teachers tell them and finish their homework in time. Most of all, they can get good marks in the exams due to their hard work. However, do you think a qualified university student is the one who has been studying everyday and get good marks in the exams? Of course not! Diligent as they are, they are lack of the ability to challenge themselves. Frankly speaking, they do not step out of the studying pattern in the high school and they are not clear about what is the real goal of college years. As far as I am concerned, the majority of Chinese students are of this type.

There is a small group of students who are different from the former two types. Not only do they hard in their daily life , but they take an active part in the competitions ; not only do they have a schedule of their daily routine , but they have a clear blueprint of their future ; not only do they have a good relationship with friends , but they get on well with their teachers . They are deserved to be called qualified university students, and they are developed in all-round way. So they are praised as grade-one students, who are the model of all college students.

Which type of university students do you belong to? The college is just like a stage for students to achieve themselves. Different types of students will lead different lives in their future. I think everyone is supposed to make an endeavor to challenge ourselves in university, only in this way can we have a bright future.

2010 was an eventful year for us Chinese .2 major earthquakes struck Wenchuan and Yushu respectively. However, The Chinese people are so caring that we do not just stand by. We supported the disaster-striken areas by donating. But kinds of problems up surged. ”impelled donation” was one of them. So what is “impelled donation”?

"Impelled donation" This is king of mandatory contribution, in which from department or agency of power to businesses organizations, they "assess" individuals by the amount of money they donate. In actual sense, it is departments or agencies use the right to deprive other legitimate income of individuals and organizations as a violation, it can not be called a charitable way. It originated from the Wenchuan Earthquake when people had to donate “out of their willingness”.

As a rule, donation is a voluntary matter. Therefore, no such authority has the right to compel people to donate. Conversely, Hailing District, Taizhou City, the teachers were each forced to make "donations" from two-month salaries of 4,000 yuan. Voluntary contributions of more than 2,000 teachers accounted for 98%, there were four or five ten teachers who did not donate. (February 9, "Yangzi Evening News")

I was irritated by the news. Helping the poor is the traditional Chinese virtue. Citizens should have a certain moral and social responsibility, and actively participate in helping the poor by donating money and showing love action. However, everyone has different economic situations and each person entertain different views on charity. That determines the individuals’ attitudes toward donation. If the economic conditions are good and people are interested in charity, you can donate some more; but poor economic conditions of people decide on their capability to donate, they may choose to contribute less or none. Thus, it is not appropriate to regard a man who do not donate as immoral in that our care should not be so biased as to only care about people in the disaster area and criticize those who do not contribute without take their real situation into consideration., contributions are not tax, and there is no national legal basis for enforcement so citizens have no due obligation to donate. On the other hand, is they forced to do so, their civil right of liberty was seriously . According to an employee in a state-owned enterprise , the announcement of the company said that some relative of the manager was ill ,so people were expected to contribute on their own will .But

the day after , he found that he had already on that list of people who were willing to donate. He, himself, even did not know about it. In this case, the employee was obviously impelled to donate. It is a potential violation of people’s right. This does not say enough, it not only violates the man’s right, also it might bungle his life. If this is the case, why should people help others at the expense of mucking up our own life?

Another whip, why has the money gone? There would be less complaint if the money was used to help those who should be helped. The fact is that the money was abused. Do you still remember Yingxiu, one of the quake-hit areas? Before the quake, it was such a poor town that many officials take the same old car for work. After the donation each official was distributed a magnificent car. Every tine they went to inspect the reconstruction of the town, there would be a luxurious motorcade passing by the people .Te motorcade includes a Toyota Camry vehicle (25 million!!), a Volkswagen Touareg (1.7 million). After knowing this, anybody can understand what happened. We had better question ourselves .what the hell do we donate for, for the comfort of the few officials? Never,we contribute for people’s happiness .But how could we make them satisfied with most of the money being used for costly cars?

In such an enlightened society, everybody should have the right pursue liberty of doing anything in case that it is legal. Treat others you want to be treated. Also if you desire for a state, do not expect that others feel like it as you. Even though you feel obliged to donate, you had best not make others feel humiliated for not doing so. As for the officials, I hope that they can do just as the saying “the government was established by people and for the people.”

Qualities That College Students Need

Recently, an incident sparked a heated debate. The case is that a college student called Y aoJiaxin hit a woman and killed him, just because he was afraid of being extorted. W hen this case happened, we have to think about a question: what qualities do college students need in our modern society?

There is dozens of qualities that college students needed. Firstly, I think responsibility is the most important one. I believe responsibility is to our society what blood is to body. So as for our college students, only you have responsibility for your behavior, you can live in our society. What’s more, you can contribute to our society and fulfill your self-worth. Secondly, cooperation is also necessary for our college students. Now most college students are only child because of One Child Policy in our country. Most of them lack the concept of cooperation. Most times college students always feel self-centered and they don’t know how to cooperate with others. However, in our society, if you can’t cooperate with others, you will be deserted by our society. So considering the future development of college students and society, I think college students should learn cooperation.

Lastly, tolerance is essential in our life. We have seen many cases happen during the past years, such as MaJiajue and Y aoJiaxin. When we think over the reason why these bad cases happen again and again. It is easy for us to find out they don’t know how to tolerate ot hers. However, life is full of ups and downs. And many times, we can’t get what we want and sometimes others will hurt you. What we need is not to think how to revenge but how to tolerate. If you can tolerate others, I believe you will gain a good reputation and live in a harmonious atmosphere.

To sum up, I think college students need to learn a lot of things to improve themselves, especially responsibility, cooperation and tolerance. Then they can become qualified students and make a contribution to our society’s development.
