题目1:电子图书馆能否代替传统图书馆Maintaining public libraries is a waste of money since computer technology can replace their functions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

(Band 9):IT industry has made too many revolutionary changes in all aspects of the society, and the public education is not exempt from this trend. Personally, I strongly believe that the Internet-based library, or electronic library, will take the place of the real-world library in this century, and my reasons will be explored as below. This assertion is fundamentally right, because of the incomparable advantages of advanced computer technology. Firstly, the e-library can bring great convenience to the audience. Obviously, online technology eradicates the physical and time limits, and makes the e-library universally at all times and places. For example, people can have an easy and comfortable access to the e-library by using the Internet at home, which saves the time and energy that could be wasted in going out to the real library, or standing in the long queue in front of the loan desk. The second reason of supporting e-library is about the costs. Compared with areal library whose operation relies on big multi-storey buildings, complicated security systems and hundreds of administrators, the running of an e-library is much cheaper and simpler, because all it needs are no more than a small room with few servers. That is to say, the wide application of e-library can substantially save the land, budget of education and social jobs. The third, and perhaps the most important reason why the substitution of e-library for the physical one is desirable is its efficiency. E-library is an advanced information management system. What readers have to do is to enter key words and click the mouse, and this system can automatically realize the location, analysis, filtering and presentation of all relative information and data from millions of collected books, in just few seconds. All in all, my opinion is advantages brought by new computer and Internet technology, from the convenience to cheapness to high efficiency of information searching, provides good reasons for modern people to embrace the e-library and abandon tangible ones.(327)题目2:互联网是否削弱了人们的社交能力People can go to shop, bank, and work with computer. But the danger is that people are getting isolated and losing some social skills. To what extent do you agree with this opinion?思路:1. 互联网的滥用当然会弱化人们之间的社交。

雅思议论文作文:科技与发展Development and Technology

雅思议论文作文:科技与发展Development and Technology

雅思议论文作文:科技与发展Development and TechnologyThe rapid pace of development is damaging our environment. Some people say the answer is for all of us to lead a simpler life, but others say that technology can help solve our environmental problems. What do you think?快速的发展正在破坏我们的环境。

有人说这是让我们所有人过上更简单的生活,但也有人说技术可以帮助解决我们的环境问题。

你怎么看?Our planet is definitely suffering from the effects of seven billion people. Is the answer to go back to living in villages and farms, or is it to find new technological solutions for our problems? In this essay, I will say why we need to consider both these options.我们的星球肯定正在遭受70 亿人的影响。

是回到乡村和农场生活,还是为我们的问题寻找新的技术解决方案?在本文中,我将说明为什么我们需要同时考虑这两种选择。

Technology by itself cannot solve our environmental problems. First of all, it is neutral, neither good nor bad: Only the user can decide how it is to be used. Secondly, it is difficult to imagine in advance how new technology can be used, or misused. For example, if we learned how to produce endless cheap energy, would the results be necessarily all good? A third point is that technology generally belongs, at least at the beginning, to the rich and powerful, who use it for their own ends.技术本身并不能解决我们的环境问题。

雅思大作文范文:电脑VS老师It is witnessed that computer technology hasbrought human beings uncountable benefits and aneducational revolution seemingly can be expected hence a substitution of teachers in theclassroom. As to discuss this controversial issue, opinions vary from person to person. On the one hand, the teacher plays an important role as a supervisor as well as aconductor in the classroom (topic sentence). It is commonly believed that adolescents are tooyoung to distinguish the good from the bad and they need correct guidance from decentadults; otherwise, they might stray from the right way. Children are always easy to becomeaddicted to computer games, which have too much violent and pornographic propaganda.Without teachers' guidance, most children would spend hours playing fascinating games oncomputers instead of studying useful knowledge during school times. Moreover, a teacher in theclassroom may organize a discussion on a complicated or logical question and finallyconclude with a sensible answer, but computers can never do so.On the other hand, in some way, computers can replace teachers in language learning(topic sentence). In many countries, particularly in China, most English teachers have incorrectpronunciation in English. It is not unusual that Chinese students have a hard time tocommunicate with English native speakers due to an inaccurate sound producing methodwhich they have imitated from their Chinese teachers. However, if you go online to learn spokenEnglish with foreigners, you will beastonished to find that thousands of native Englishspeakers are available on Internet every day and they are willing to help you improve yourEnglish speaking skills. Through net-voice-chat, you are bound to speak good English with anassistance that you can never expect to be attached by Chinese teachers. From above discussion, we can see that computers and teachers play different roles ineducation. We cannot just arbitrarily assert that teachers are not needed; on the contrary,we ought to take advantage of this teaching resource despite the application of computers ineducation.雅思大作文范文:电脑与现代教育Computers are now essential in many areas of life—modern banking, retail and informationexchange among others. However, this is not true for education. At a simple level somesubjects may be better taught using computers, but to explain important concepts a humanteacher is still indispensable. There are some subjects in which a computer can be used successfully to teach. Elementarymathematics, elementary language leaning, any area which requires a student to memorizebasic facts through repetition is well suited to computer learning. The computer can beprogrammed to provide an endless number of simple questions, and as the student answersthese questions the facts are learned and reinforced. However, in the learning and practice of more complex ideas, the computer is notadequate. A computer can evaluate an answer as right or wrong, but it cannot determinewhy. It cannot find out why a student is making mistakes, and then re-present importantconcepts in a different way so the student will understand. It cannot determine at what stagein a mathematics problem the student has made an error, it can only indicate thatthe finalanswer is wrong. Tasks involving reasoning cannot be taught by computers, as there are toomany variables for a computer to deal with successfully. Thus, while computers may be useful as a tool for practicing simple skills, they are not anessential feature of modern education, because they cannot monitor a student's grasp ofconcepts, nor evaluate a student's reasoning. Until further developments in computers aremade the human teacher will remain indispensable.雅思大作文范文:老年人与现代科技It is obvious that advanced technologies suchas cellular phones or the net not only bring a lot offun to youngsters who are always passionate tonovel things, but also have an important effect onthe life of senior citizens who would like to keep the pace of the age.Today, mobile phones are increasingly popular with old people. Unlike young people whofancy playing games or taking photos with phones, they seem to be most interested in theirmost basic function – communication. It is easily found that keeping in touch by mobiles withtheir children who live independently or study overseas has become a necessary thing in theirroutines. Plus, if some of old people feel physically uncomfortable or get in danger outdoorsand alone, they immediately make an emergency call or inform . their relatives or friends usingmobile phones. The Internet is equally important with mobile phone in old people’s life now. Apparently, some elderly tend to surf on Internet, studying something that they are fascinated with suchas calligraphy , painting and so forth; some like to meet new people online or chat with theirfriends by tools available on Internet suchas MSN or OICQ; others become accustomed toshopping online or running their own small businesses by E-bay.However, I must confess that some old people are afraid to try new technologies probablybecause they do not yet have understood or experienced them. In avoid of this, they shouldbe encouraged to take part in some activities that are held in their community with the aim ofeducating them about how to use or see the new technologies. In the meanwhile , they arereally supposed to be a bit more confident.雅思大作文范文:电脑与现代教育Introduction shows main ideaComputers are now essential in many areas of life – modern banking, retail andinformation exchange among others. 雅思大作文范文:科学技术的发展能否解决环境问题

雅思大作文范文:科学技术的发展能否解决环境问题

Developments in science and technology have caused environmental problems. Some people think that a simpler way of life will protect the environment, while others believe that science and technology can solve environmental problems.Technology has become a trigger for environmental problems these days. Some people suggest that simplifying our lifestyles can be a solution to the problems whereas other people think that technology can be utilized to fight against the issues, I would suggest that the combination of both ways is probably a better solution.Living life in a simpler way to some extent prevents further environmental issues. If people do not often drive to work, the carbon emissions can be decreased dramatically. If artificial laundry poser is no long used, it is possible to save more rivers and lakes from chemical pollution. Using technology like these less frequently will pave the way to better environment. However, relying less on technology is just one way to protect the environment. Some people believe that technology can be turned into a weapon to tackle various kinds of problems. For instance, the reinvention of car engines shows possibility in keeping emissions at a lower level. Recycling old electronic equipment smartly, as another example, prevents pollution and reuses the resources to make better technological products. My view is that we should not be inclined to either side. A simpler lifestyle does not mean that people should stop developing technology. In fact, it encourages people to rethink about their way of using technology from the point of environmental protection. On the other hand, technology can contribute to a cleaner environment, but this should not be an excuse for people’s ignorance of their improper use of some technology. Therefore, combining simpler lifestyle and hi-tech methods to deal with environmental issues is the ultimate solution for a more satisfying outcome.。

In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships that people make? Has this been a positive or negative development?中文翻译:如今,许多人互相交流的方式因技术而改变。

技术在哪些方面影响了人们的关系类型? 这是一个积极或消极的发展吗?范文:It is true that new technologies have had an influence on communication between people. Technology has affected relationships in various ways, and in my opinion there are both positive and negative effects.Technology has had an impact on relationships in business, education and social life. Firstly, telephones and the Internet allow business people in different countries to interact without ever meeting each other. Secondly, services like Skype create new possibilities for relationships between students and teachers. For example, a student can now take video lessons with a teacher in a different city or country. Finally, many people use social networks, like Facebook, to make new friends and find people who share common interests, and they interact through their computers rather than face to face.On the one hand, these developments can be extremelypositive. Cooperation between people in different countries was much more difficult when communication was limited to written letters or telegrams. Nowadays, interactions by email, phone or video are almost as good as face-to-face meetings, and many of us benefit from these interactions, either in work or social contexts. On the other hand, the availability of new communication technologies can also have the result of isolating people and discouraging real interaction. For example, many youngpeople choose to make friends online rather than mixing with their peers in the real world, and these ‘virtual’relationships are a poor substitute for real friendships. In conclusion, technology has certainly revolutionised communication between people, but not all of the outcomes of this revolution have been positive.雅思写作大作文参考范文:科技改变生活为大家带来媒体类类雅思写作话题预测,原题是:Some people think the developments of technology make people’s life more complex, so we should make the life simpler without using technology. 科技类1.Some people think that robots are very important for humans'f uture development. Others, however, think that robots are a dangerous invention that could have negative effects on society. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The field of science and technology has advanced throughout the past decades and has changed our perspectives of life. Among those advancements, robots have become significant by trying to get close to human lives. While some people argue that though these robots have managed to solve most of our day- to-day problems, they canstill create problems, I believe that robots are significant for humans ' current and future development. It is normal for people to be worried about the rise of robotics in every aspects of our lives. In workplace, one of the real impacts humans face is the loss of jobs and the economic displacement of workers. As prices continue to drop for advanced technology, the result is that robots cost less than a human does to complete the same job. Consequently, wages are slashing and pay inequality is worsening. Moreover, when societies become too dependent on robots, humans become lazy and begin to lose the skills that they has replaced. Last but not the least, it 's not a stretch to imagine that untrustworthy rotbso may cause over-trust issue and deception. As anthropomorphic robots come to the physical world, people, children particularly, are susceptible to telling their deepest, darkest secrets to these robots whose cute faces may hide exploitative code.Nevertheless, the benefits that robots bring about could outweigh these potential risks. Many robotic solutions have been introducedin order to help disabled people. For example, wheelchairs, robotic arms, and many other robotic devices are created to help the disabled to perform their day-to-day tasks. Moreover, some of the greatest technologies are now in medicine, particularly with robot surgeons. In addition, robots are used in many high end factories to make their production lines more efficient and time saving. Compared with humans, robots rarely make mistakes and are more precise. As long as they have power, they can work continuously without any pauses or breaks and does not get tired as humans. In conclusion, there are good aspects as well as bad aspects about robots being a part of our lives. As long as humans remember that it is we who should decide on how much we let them control our lives, we could enjoy the life with robots around.2.Today, advanced science and technology have made great changes to people's life, but artists such as musicians, painters and writersare still highly valued. What can arts tell us about life that science and technology cannot?Almost every aspect of modern human life has been influenced by science and technology. One area where technology is already having a profound impact is the world of art. Art is one affected and redefined by technology in a new way. Yet, some people argue that even with advance technologies that enable faster creation of works, artists are still high valued. I totally agree with this idea since efficient creation does not necessarily mean highly appreciable works.Admittedly, technology is shedding light on the ability to duplicate and create arts. For example, pianist robots are created to sit in front of a piano center stage and move their fingers with great accuracy and speed to play a piece from Mozart. Additionally, sketching portraits of humans, spontaneously composing music, and writing traditional Chinese calligraphy are already possible in the world of robots. Further, digitizing artwork help to make it more accessible to a wider audience. Livestreaming opera performance, for instance, enables people to enjoy the show online at home instead of taking a trip. Lastly, advanced technology have also allowed contemporary artists to reduce time spent in the actual execution of artwork to a minimum thereby freeing them to focus more on contemplation, creativity and developing groundbreaking ideas, as well as sound preparation for artwork. Nevertheless, technology unavoidably surface a lot of works with less artistic value and will never outshine artists cr'ea tivity and imagination. The interpretation and creation of music is basically the expression of feelings. For example, when an artist sees beautiful scenery, he may immediately make a sketch, paint then, or just write a poem about what he saw. In contrast, machines that humans are used to operating as tools have little emotive understanding of the social, historical, psychological and physiological factors that inspire human artists, which makes it difficult to accept them as having the ability to be creative. In conclusion, contemporary art has been greatly influenced by the rapid development in digital technology. Given that these influences are inevitable, artists need to hone their skills and understandthese techniques well in order to translate their vision and creativity into great and distinctive art pieces.3.Nowadays, high-technologies such as mobile phones and internet are rarely used by old people. How should these technologies be usefulto old people? How to encourage old people to use the technologies.Seniors consistently have lower rates of technology adoption than the general public. Given that high-technologies and internet could certainly benefit the elderly, it is necessary to come up with solutions to encourage them to take advantage of technologies. Both technologies and internet are useful to old people in all aspects of their life. Firstly, the elderly could maintain constant contacts with their relatives, friends, and children via video chat services like Skype, or other Internetbased communication channels such as email and social media. Secondly, smart technologies can assist older people to live safely and live well at home. With certain devices like a watch, senior people could easily call for help in case of emergency with the simple push of a button. Further, there are video games designed to help seniors exercise physically and mentally. For example, owning a Wii or other video game system offer a fun opportunity for old people to engage in light physical activity from the comfort of their own living room. Lastly, smartphone apps and cloud-based health information tracking systems can help seniors and their family caregivers keep information such as medical history, physician contacts, medication schedules, and health conditions organized and handy. However, older adults do face some unique barriers and challenges when it comes to adopting new technologies and Internet. In order to make seniors become perfectly capable of using new devices and visiting digital world, it would be helpful to develop devices tailored to the aging population and provide them with the right training. Currently, the reality is that a lot of applications and devices are designed mainly for the young, which makesit hard for old people to utilize. Therefore, high-tech companies and organizations should take the unique features of seniors into account in the R&D process. Communities and governments should organize some public classes specifically for the aging citizens to train them how to surf online, use smartphones, and other useful devices and applications. The aging populating themselves should be open to new technologies and actively engage in the learning process. In conclusion, technologies generally lead to a healthier lifestyle by helping senior citizens stay in touch with people, maintain their health, manage diseases and conditions, and tract treatments. Old people themselves, communities, and governments should work together to increase the rates of technology adoption by seniors.4.Some people believe that computers and internet carry more weight than traditional education in children ' s study. Some others believe that traditionalschooling and teachers are still essential and more effective. Discuss bothviewpoints and give your own opinion. It is undeniable that computers and internet has played an increasingly significant role in education. More and more schools and institutions start to adopt such advanced technologies to educate children, but I believe that traditional schooling and teachers should still play the dominant role. Indeed, children can get a variety of benefits from using advanced computers and the Internet. Firstly, there are a wide range of information and knowledge that covers all areas, such as mathematics, literature, and geography, available online. In other words, children can now access information on every conceivable subject. Secondly, the Internet together with computers make education an equal opportunity for every child, especially for those who in impoverished and remote areas without any access to schools and teachers. Thirdly, computers allow students to have e-mail or other forms of internetbased conversations with experts on any subject around the world. No longer will students be limited by their own classroom or teachers. Lastly, the Internet has created a creative and interesting learning environment where children can explore, convey, create knowledge as never before. However, compared to computers and the Internet, traditional schooling and teachers are still important and more effective. To begin with, teachers know well about their students and normally impart them the most relevant and valuable knowledge. On the contrary, finding and retrieving information from a web site can be sometimes tedious and time-consuming. Moreover, children are too young to develop self-control and self-discipline ability. Therefore, the supervision and guidance from teachers become fundamental and necessary. Further, schooling provides children with a collective and interactive environment where they can learn not only from their teachers but also from their peers and classmates. Only in this way can they develop team work and cooperation skills which are essential and indispensable for their future life and career. In conclusion, despite the convenience and popularization of the Internet and computers, teachers and schools are still play an significant and irreplaceable role in children ' s education. Yet, educational experts andinstitutions couldtake advantage of these advance technologies to offer better education to students.5.Universities and colleges are now offering qualifications through distance learning from the Internet rather than teachers in the classroom. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages? Distance learning has become increasingly popular, and Universities and institutions are offering an enormous range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, as well as short-term courses. Some people argue that this development couldworsen the quality of teaching and learning, while I think there are many obvious advantages in using distant education.Online colleges have been criticized for a variety of reasons. Firstly, some say that the quality of online education cannot be comparable to face-to-face learning since the main driver for opening up online courses is to spend less on teachers and buildings. Secondly, there is no direct contact with faculty. Lack of personal interaction with teachers could affect the learning curve for some students. Thirdly, students, especially those lack of self-control and selfdiscipline, are likely to fail in courses since without teachers they will not take distance learning seriously. The last argument is that qualifications offered by distant learning are not valued by employers. Some employers will always prefer a candidate who has pursued a regular program over holders of the distance learning program qualification. However, the advantages of distant education outweigh the above mentioned disadvantages. One of the biggest advantages of studying from home is the cost comparative to studying full time at school. Internet-based education usually involves more affordable tuition than traditional college or university. In addition, part time distance learning students can work while studying towards their qualification. Also, with web-based classes, students are capable of saving time far more since they do not need to travel to schools for all classes registered. This enables those who have a job or have important personal responsibilities, like looking after family members, to get their degrees. Moreover, some accelerated programs enable students to complete their education in a short period and they can engage and pursue a career faster as well by completing a degree earlier. In conclusion, although distance learning is not suited for everyone, it does allow individuals who cannot attend regular education programs to get educated and gain their qualification.。

Thirdly, computers allow students to have e-mail or other forms of internet-based conversations with experts on any subject around the world. In conclusion, despite the convenience and popularization of the Internet and computers, teachers and schools are still play an significant and irreplaceable role in children’s education. Yet, educational experts and institutions could take advantage of these advance technologies to offer better education to students.5.Universities and colleges are now offering qualifications through distance learning from the Internet rather than teachers in the classroom. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?Distance learning has become increasingly popular, and Universities and institutions are offering an enormous range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate,as well as short-term courses. Some people argue that this development could worsen the quality of teaching and learning, while I think there are many obvious advantages in using distant education.Online colleges have been criticized for a variety of reasons. Firstly, some say that the quality of online education cannot be comparable to face-to-face learning since the main driver for opening up online courses is to spend less on teachers and buildings. Secondly, there is no direct contact with faculty. Lack of personal interaction with teachers could affect the learning curve for some students. Thirdly, students, especially those lack of self-control and self-discipline, are likely to fail in courses since without teachers they will not take distance learning seriously.

3.Nuclear weapons Even small nuclear devices can devastate a city by blast, fire and radiation. Nuclear weapons are considered weapons of mass destruction, and their use and control has been a major aspect of international policy since their debut. Throughout the Cold War, the opposing powers had huge nuclear arsenals, sufficient to kill hundreds of millions of people. Generations of people grew up under the shadow of nuclear devastation, portrayed in films such as Dr. Strangelove and The Atomic Cafe. However, the tremendous energy release in the detonation of a nuclear weapon also suggested the possibility of a new energy source.
Japan surrendered in WWII
A uranium bomb, Little Boy, was dropped on the Japanese city Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, followed three days later by the plutonium-based Fat Man on Nagasaki. In the wake of unprecedented devastation and casualties from a single weapon, the Japanese government soon surrendered, ending World War II.

(5) Food processing and agriculture- ionizing radiation ◆Food irradiation(食物照射)- to destroy microorganisms(微生物), bacteria, viruses, or insects that might be present in the food ◆ Further applications- sprout inhibition抑制发芽, delay of ripening, increase of juice yield, and improvement of re-hydration(水合作用) ◆non-food items- medical hardware, plastics, tubes for gas-pipelines, hoses for floor-heating, shrink-foils(铝箔或锡箔纸) for food packaging, automobile parts, wires and cables (isolation), tires, and even gemstones(宝玉石) Compared to the amount of food irradiated, the volume of those everyday applications is huge but not noticed by the consumer. All these effects are beneficial to the consumer and the food industry, likewise.

2.Accidents Nuclear accidents, because of the powerful forces involved, are often very dangerous. (1) fatal radiation exposure ◆ Marie Curie died from aplastic anemia (再生障碍性贫血) which resulted from her high levels of exposure. ◆Two scientists, an American and Canadian respectively, died after mishandling the same plutonium钚(放射性元素) mass. ◆Hiroshima and Nagasaki –nuclear weapon. Approximately half of the deaths from Hiroshima and Nagasaki died two to five years afterward from radiation exposure. (Unlike convention weapons, the intense light, heat, and explosive force is not the only deadly component to a nuclear weapon. )
