阅读理解，先“读”，后“解”，只有读懂，才能解对。
一、为什么要扩充词汇量
《考试大纲》中英语学科对考生语言知识的要求是：考生掌握并能运用英语语音，词汇，语法基础知识以及所学功能意念和话题，要求词汇量为3500词左右。
那么词汇的学习和掌握与阅读理解有何联系呢？研究表明，词汇量是影响阅读效率的最直接因素。
高考阅读理解长难句增加，这一趋势向我们表明：词汇学习将是重中之重。
这里的单词包括单词，固定短语，习惯用语，俗语，俚语等，这些生词的含义只有在阅读中，即上下文语境中才能完全展现出来，换句话说，是上下文给某个词以特定含义，而这个含义有时是词典无法提供的。
多读是扩大词汇量的好方法，要多阅读不同体裁，不同题材的文章，让备考更高效。
二、怎样扩充词汇量
词汇内容庞杂，不能盲目记忆。
现总结出七种常用记忆词汇的方法，分享如下：
（1）词缀法。
英语词缀分前缀和后缀。
一般来说，前缀只改变词义，不改变词性。
常见前后缀和例词如下：①前缀：anti---，表反抗，Anti-Japanese War 抗日战争、co---，共同，cooperation合作、dis---，相反，discover发现、ex---，以前的，exwife前妻、in---，il---，im---，ir---，不，incorrect不正确，illegal非法、inter---，在…之间，international国际的、mini---，小的，miniskirt迷你裙、over---，过分，overweight超重、pre---，在…之前，preview预习re---，再次，rebuild重建、tele---，远程的，telescope望远镜。
②后缀：-able，构成形容词，possible可能的、-al，构成形容词，environmental有关环境的、-ance，-ence，-ancy，-ency，构成名词，performance 演出、-ee，受动者，employee雇员、-er，使动者，employer老板、-en，构成动词，shorten使变短、-ress，女性，actress女演员、-ful，形容词，grateful感恩的、-hood，状态，childhood童年、-ify，构成动词，beautify美化、-less，没…的，homeless无家可归的、-ous，形容词，dangerous危险的
（2）词根法。
很多单词都有一个共同的词根，比如：globe地球;global全球
的;globalization 全球化;image形象;imagine想象;imagination想象。
（3）一词多用法：①bargain She knows a bargain when she sees one.便宜货The salesman refused to bargain over price.讨价还价。
②content，The content of the textbook is quite beyond the children’s understanding.内容;After a good meal， we were all content.满意的。
③crowd，There
was a big crowd.人群The eager audience crowded into the stadium.涌入。
Don’t crowd the bedroom with too much furniture.放入过多的…④express，I was too excited to express to you how grateful I am.表达。
He left express instructions to keep all doors locked.明确的;Where do I take the express to London？特快列车;⑤mask，A man wearing a mask robbed the store .面具;They tried hard to mask their true intentions.掩蓋。
（4）易错比较法。
①physician内科医生、physicist物理学家、confident有信心的、confidential秘密的、objection反对、objective客观的、worthless 不值钱的、priceless无价的。
②response反应、responsible负责的、respect尊敬、respective各自的、occasion场合、occasional偶尔的。
（5）语境记忆法。
记住了单词在某一语境中的用法，不但可以在遇到此情况时熟练运用此单词，还可以举一反三，将此单词用在相似的语境中，达到活学活用。
语境可以简单地定义为“词，短语，句子等的前后部分，即上下文。
”
（6）阅读记忆法。
《高中英语教学大纲》在谈到阅读时指出，学生应该能以每分钟70-80个词的速度读懂生词率不超过3%的有关人物传记，故事，记叙文，科普小品和有关社会文化，文史知识等不同题材的材料。
对于词汇量，要求除教材外，课外阅读量累计能达到20万词以上。
大纲的要求很明确，大量阅读，深度阅读，反复阅读是提高词汇量的重要手段。
另外，我们在背单词时，要把单词大声读出来。
可以毫不夸张地说，如果你记住了单词的发音，就可以按照读音规则，拼出80%的单词。
这样一举两得，既背过了单词，又练会了发音，也为将来能讲一口流利而纯正的英语打下了良好的基础。
（7）应用加强法。
增加词汇量并和遗忘作斗争是词汇记忆中的一项重要工作。
要创造机会，多多运用记住的单词，增加语音输出。
具体可以通过造句，情景对话，写作文等。
对于单词的学习，不应只限于会说，会用才是关键。
除了阅读和听写等被动重复记忆外，我们应通过听说读写译各种记忆方法，培养学习兴趣，主动创造机会巩固练习。
