Sometimes he plays a trick on me and pretends like he's going to bring the ball back but then runs the other way! What a silly pup.I also have a pet rabbit named Thumper. She's a small white rabbit with floppy ears and a twitchy little nose. Thumper lives in a big cage in my room but we let her run around the house sometimes. You have to watch out though because she likes nibbling on things like books and shoelaces! Rabbits have to chew a lot to wear down their constantly growing teeth. My favorite thing about Thumper is how soft she is. I love petting her silky fur. When I pick her up she's so calm and just snuggles into my arms. She's an awesome cuddly pet.My dad has a pet snake named Slytherin. I think snakes are super cool but also a little creepy! Slytherin is a ball python and he's about 4 feet long. He has amazing geometric patterns all over his body in black, brown, and gold colors. My dad has to usea special stick to get Slytherin out of his tank because you don't want a big snake to mistake your hand for food! Snakes can't really show emotions like cats and dogs but Slytherin seems pretty chill. He'll just calmly wrap himself around my dad's arm. I don't like holding Slytherin myself but I think it's awesome that my dad has such an exotic pet.Now let me tell you about my mom's birds. She has two parakeets named Sunny and Blue. Sunny is bright yellow and Blue is...you guessed it, blue! Their cage is in the living room and they always chirp and whistle at us. Whenever my mom changes their food and water or cleans their cage they fly around crazily! Sunny and Blue can be a little noisy but I think it's funny how hyper they are. My mom lets them out to fly around the living room sometimes but you have to be careful they don't fly into a window or mirror. One time Blue landed right on top of my head! It was startling but also really cool.The last pet I'll tell you about is my parents' fish tank. We have a huge 50 gallon tank with all sorts of pretty fish in it. There are angel fish, guppies, platys, tetras, and more! My favorite ones are the bright neon tetras that glow under the tank light. We also have some bottom dweller fish like cory catfish. They're funny looking with their whiskers and they glide around the bottomvacuuming up extra food. My job is feeding the fish twice a week with their special flakes and pellets. I like watching them all swim around in their colorful underwater world. Setting up the tank with all the rocks, plants, and filters was a lot of work for my parents but I think it paid off because it looks so neat!Wow, I guess my family is pretty much a zoo! Having so many different pets is a lot of responsibility but it's worth it because they all have such unique personalities and traits. Pets can really become members of the family. Every morning when I wake up, Buddy is there wagging his tail. At night, I can hear Sunny and Blue chirping in their cage. When I get home from school, Thumper is hopping around waiting for pets and snacks. My parents' fish and snake aren't as cuddly but they're still cool to watch. It always makes me laugh!Rufus is kind of an old guy - he's 10 years old, which is pretty old for a dog. Because of his age, he sleeps a LOT and has a little trouble seeing and hearing sometimes. But that doesn't stop him from being the most fun dog ever! He still loves to play fetch and go for walks around the neighborhood. When he sees a squirrel or a bird, his tail goes crazy and he barks up a storm. Then as soon as the squirrel is gone, he forgets all about it and keeps on sniffing around for treats.My favorite time is when Rufus comes over and plays in our backyard with me. We have this awesome game where I throw his squeaky toys as far as I can and he happily runs around bonking into things trying to find them with his poor doggy eyesight. So she's always leaving clumps of her fluffy white fur all over the furniture, covering everything in cat hair tumbleweeds! And don't even get me started on her funky litter box... my mom is always having to clean it out because Princess is too good for that sort of thing, I guess!Even though Princess acts all snooty most of the time, she still has her cute little moments. Sometimes when I'm reading alone in my room, she'll jump up on my bed and snuggle right into the crook of my arm, falling asleep to the sound of my voice. And every night around bedtime, she goes into full-on purr monster mode, rubbing all over our legs for pets and cuddles onthe couch.
