I could not answer these questions well because I had never thoughtabout them before. so I think that monemt is the most embarrassed moment in my life10.What harm can anger cause ? Can you suggest some ways to control anger ?We all konw anger can hurt our families and friends and it is harmful to our own body .So it is very important for us to try to control anger When we are angering. There are many ways to control anger such as rest , relax ation.,reading, taking a deep breath and so on.11.3 Can people be judged by their looks? Why or why not ?I think We should never judge people by their appearance, otherwise we may easily be cheated. Nowadays, many unemployed people dress up to be universi ty students or government officials, to cheat people out of their money, so we have to be very careful.Actually, even at a job interview, it is very important to dress properly. However,The employer may attach more importance to one’s qualities, su ch as sincerity, creativity and communication skills than to one’s appearance.12.4If an earthquake strikes, how would you feel ? What would you do or payattention to ?When the earthquake strikes,I feelt the wold is shaking and we need to d o some things to protect ouselves. If you’re driving while an earthquake hits, stop your vehicle and stay in your car, but mak e sure to stay away from bridges, buildings, and utility wires. If you are at home, you can hide under a table and stay away from windows; The above is my suggestions555555Why do people sometimes hate their jobs? In you opinion, is this good or harmful? They have low wages and the development of the company in the future is poor.Above all,They think they are so young that they have many chances. It has some advantagesThey can have higher wages,Widen their field of vision and a gre ater probability of successThe disadvantages are that they must establish theirCommunications again and make the employers lose their confidence77777777777The stock market has its advantages. When a company is listed on the stock market, it can raise funds, which can be used to promote its development. When many promising companies offer their shares to the public, a huge amount of money can be collected, which will boost the growth of the national economy. However, in a bear market most stocks depreciate , andmany investors lose money. Worse still, some companies make false financial reports to cheat the public, which make the public lose more money .An unhealthy stock market is harmful to the country.888888888Do you think most people today will put their money in banks, the stock market or real estate? Why?It seems to me that most Chinese are traditional, and they like to put thei r money in the bank . It is true that bank interest rates are low. However, deposits in banks are safe. You can be almost in the 1990s, many Chinese seldom enter the stock because the stock depreciate easilyThe real estate【房地产】 market was hot, or rather overheated.NOw, the government publishs regulations to discourage The real estate .So perhaps some funds will pull out of the real estate market and move to the bank s . Generally speaking, I think most Chinese prefer to save their money in bank s for guaranteed returns.。

When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty glass jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks right to the top, rocks about two inches in diameter.②He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open spaces between the rocks. The students laughed.③He asked his students again if the jar was full. They agreed: yes, it was.The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.Of course, the sand filled up all the remaining space.④“Now.” said the professor, “I want you to recognize that this is your life.”The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed. The pebbles are the other things in life that matter, but on a smaller scale. The pebbles represent things like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff.⑤If you put the sand or the pebbles into the jar first, there is no room for the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, or material things, you will never have room for the things that are truly most important. Pay attention to the things that are critical in your life. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. Talk with your parents. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. “Take care of the rocks first – the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just pebbles and sand. They will take care of themselves.”Task2: Talking on a given topicDirections: Describe a lesson you have learned which has enriched your life experience.Task3: Role-playingStudent A: You and your friend are discussing what you are going to do together during this coming summer vacation. She loved her job and believed very strongly in practical work as a meansof teaching science effectively. ②Once she decided to show her pup ils’ parents how well their children were learning. To demonstrate the effectiveness of her methods she invited all the parents to come to the school to see the results of one of the children’s experiments. She scheduled this event for a Saturday evening, so all of the parents would be sure to come.③The children were studying how plants grow. To see this process for themselves the students had planted four pots of beans. They had put poor soil in one pot to see what effect this would have on the growth of the beans. The other three pots of beans had good soil, but one pot had been placed in a dark room for several days and another pot was not watered for the same length of time. In this way the children were learning the effects of soil, water and sunlight on the growth of plants.④At the end of the lesson on Friday afternoon, Anne put labels on the four pots. One label said, “The beans in this pot were planted in poor soil.” Another one said, “This pot has been kept in the dark for four days.” The third lab el read, “These beans have had no water for four days.” And the last one went like this: “These beans have had good soil, plenty of light and regular water.” Then she went home.⑤She returned to school on Saturday evening, half an hour before the parents were due to come. She was surprised to find a note beside the pots. It said: “We read your notes to the school cleaning staff and decided to help them with your plants, so we watered all the plants, changed the earth in one with poor soil, and left the light on above the one that had been left in the dark for four days. We hope that the plants will now grow better.” Signed “The Boy Scouts”.Task2: Talking on a given topicDirections: Talk about an experience you have had in which you tried to help someone but actually caused trouble.Task3: Role-playingStudent A: Nowadays lots of college students take all kinds of tests to get different kinds of certificates. 2020年11月英语四级口语考试真题及参考答案2020年11月英语四级口语考试真题及参考答案1. Are you satisfied with your present accommodations? Give your reasons. What kind of accommodations would you like to have? From my point view, I’m quite satisfied with our accommodation. My dormitory room faces south and has a lot of sunshine in fine weather. It also has a very good view of the garden in front of the building and the mountains in the distance. It makes me feel good when I look the lovely grass, flowers and trees in the garden. The color of the mountains changes with different seasons and in different weather. I really enjoy watching the view from my room. But there are some aspects need to be improved. Above all, our dormitory is not big enough. When everybody is in the room, there simply is not enough space for us to move around. And with six people in it, there isn’t much privacy for anyone. We even don’t have a washroom in it .So it’s not convenient for us, especially in winter and summer. And the water and electricity supply are usually cut off for some unclear reasons. Everyday we have to go to bed before halfpast ten. That’ too early! S o we are restricted to do what we need to do after ten thirty. In a word, our canteens are quite good. First of all, the food is quite cheap and the services meet most of our needs. But some canteens are sosmall that have to wait in line to get our food.In my opinion, a good student apartment should have a relatively large living room and three or four small single bedrooms. This design will provide enough space for meetingsand gatherings while at the same time give each student his or her own room. It should have a washroom and we should have water and electricity supply all day long. And we also can get our food without waiting in line.In my university, students have different types of accommodation depending on their status. Undergraduate students generally share dormitory rooms six to a room, and master’s stu dents four to a r oom. New apartment houses are also available to students who pay an additional rent.2. What job do you think is the best for you after you graduate?I think the best job for me is to be a teacher after graduation. When I was a child, I had dreamed to be a high school teacher. Now I can come to Xinyang Normal Universityto receive further education and I major in Study of History. It looks like that my dream will come true in the near future. As a teacher, I can give what I have learnt to my students, who will make contributions to our society.Thinking about it, I will be very proud of being a teacher. And, what’s more, I can become an actor just on the small platform in the front of the classroom, which will make mylife much colorful. And then, what mostly makes me choose to be a teacher is that I can share some new ideas with the young people, and by this way I will be young forever in my mind.3. What is your most important consideration when looking for a job?Actually, many factors contribute to job satisfaction, such as a high salary, good promotion prospects, pleasant and friendly working atmosphere, suitability for one’s professional talents, and personal interests etc. For many people, money or goodpromotion prospects may be their most important consideration when looking a job; but as for me, what is important is to do something that I enjoy. I hear stories all the time about people who change their jobs because they realize that they don’t like them after they have starte d. If you don’t like what you’re doing, you are going to be miserable. You cann’t make the best use of your talents and you will get nowhere in your work. So when choosing a job, I think, we’d better make sure that we know where our interest lies, only by doing so, can we do very well in our work and enjoy our work most.。

2020年12月全国大学英语四级口语考试真题及原文

2020年12月全国大学英语四级口语考试真题及原文

2020年12月全国大学英语四级口语考试真题及原文[A] Young graduates are in debt, out of work and on their parents' couches. People in their 30s and 40s can't afford to buy homes or have children. Retirees are earning near-zero interest on their savings.[B] In the current listless (缺乏活力的) economy, every generation has a claim to having been most injured. But the Labor Department's latest jobs snapshot and other recent data reports present a strong case for crowning baby boomers (二战后生育高峰期出生的人) as the greatest victims of the recession and its dreadful consequences.[C] These Americans in their 50s and early 60s — those near retirement age who do not yet have access to Medicare and Social Security — have lost the most earnings power of any age group, with their household incomes 10 percent below what they made when the recovery began three years ago, according to Sentier Research, a data analysis company. Their retirement savings and home values fell sharply at the worst possible time: just before they needed to cash out. They are supporting both aged parents and unemployed young-adult children, earning them the unlucky nickname "Generation Squeeze."[D] New research suggests that they may die sooner, because their health, income security and mental well-being were battered (重创) by recession at a crucial time in their lives. A recent study by economists at Wellesley College found that people who lost their jobs in the few years before becoming qualified for Social Security lost up to three yearsfrom their life expectancy (预期寿命), largely because theyno longer had access to affordable health care.[E] Unemployment rates for Americans nearing retirementare far lower than those for young people, who are recentlyout of school, with fewer skills and a shorter work history. But once out of a job, older workers have a much harder time finding another one. Over the last year, the average duration of unemployment for older people was 53 weeks, compared with 19 weeks for teenagers, according to the Labor Department's jobs report released on Friday.[F] The lengthy process is partly because older workersare more likely to have been laid off from industries thatare downsizing, like manufacturing. Compared with the rest of the population, older people are also more likely to owntheir own homes and be less mobile than renters, who can move to new job markets.[G] Older workers are more likely to have a disability of some sort, perhaps limiting the range of jobs that offer realistic choices. They may also be less inclined, at least initially, to take jobs that pay far less than their old positions.[H] Displaced boomers also believe they are victims ofage discrimination, because employers can easily find a young, energetic worker who will accept lower pay and who can potentially stick around for decades rather than a few years.[I] In a survey by the center of older workers who were laid off during the recession, just one in six had found another job, and half of that group had accepted pay cuts.Fourteen percent of the re-employed said the pay in their new job was less than half what they earned in their previous job. "I just say to myself: 'Why me? What have I done to deserve this?' " said John Agati, 56, of Norwalk, Conn., whose lastfull-time job, as a merchandise buyer and product developer, ended four years ago when his employer went out of business. That position paid $90,000, and his rsum lists stints at companies like American Express, Disney and USA Networks. Since being laid off, though, he has worked a series of part-time, low-wage, temporary positions, including selling shoesat Lord & Taylor and making sales calls for a limo company.[J] The last few years have taken a toll not only on his family's finances, but also on his feelings of self-worth. "You just get sad," Mr. Agati said. "I see people getting upin the morning, going out to their careers and going home. I just wish I was doing that. Some people don't like their jobs, or they have problems with their jobs, but at least they're working. I just wish I was in their shoes." He said he cannot afford to go back to school, as many younger people without jobs have done. Even if he could afford it, economists say it is unclear whether older workers like him benefit much from more education.[K] "It just doesn't make sense to offer retraining for people 55 and older," said Daniel Hamermesh, an economics professor at the University of Texas in Austin. "Discrimination by age, long-term unemployment, the fact that they're now at the end of the hiring queue, the lack of time horizon just does not make it sensible to invest in them."[L] Many displaced older workers are taking this message to heart and leaving the labor force entirely. The share of older people applying for Social Security early spiked during the recession as people sought whatever income they could find. The penalty they will pay is permanent, as retirees who take benefits at age 62 will receive 30 percent less in each month's check for the rest of their lives than they would if they had waited until full retirement age (66 for those born after 1942).Those not yet eligible for Social Security are increasingly applying for another, comparable kind of income support that often goes to people who expect never to work again: disability benefits. More than one in eight people in their late 50s is now on some form of federal disability insurance program, according to Mark Duggan, chairman of the department of business economics and public policy at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The very oldest Americans, of course, were battered by some of the same ill winds that tormented those now nearing retirement, but at least the most senior were cushioned by a more readily available social safety net. More important, in a statistical twist, they may have actually benefited from the financial crisis in the most fundamental way: prolonged lives.Death rates for people over 65 have historically fallen during recessions, according to a November 2020 study by economists at the University of California, Davis. Why? The researchers argue that weak job markets push more workersinto accepting relatively undesirable work at nursing homes, leading to better care for residents.。

参考范文:In recent years, the global epidemic situation of infectious diseases is very serious.Although the incidence of many infectious diseases has decreased significantly, infectious diseases are still the main threat to human health in the world. This year’s covid-19pandemic,for example, killed thousands of people.I have to say that prevention and control of infectious diseases are very important.First, with globalization, the world is now a village. If there is an infectious disease,it will spread to every corner of the world very quickly.Secondly, infectious diseases are highly contagious and spread quickly, posing a serious threat to people’s health and life safety. Finally, infectious diseases, once widespread, can overwhelm health systems and affect other basic systems. If not prevented,it will have a serious impact on the stability of the whole society. So we need to prevent and control infectious diseases and reduce their impact on people’s health and society.小组讨论:探望生病的同学本场的讨论话题是探望生病的同学,包括什么时间去,怎么去,带什么礼物。

2020年英语四级口语考试练习题(2)Task1: Retelling a story
①A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty glass jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks right to the top, rocks about two inches in diameter.
②He then aske d the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open spaces between the rocks. The students laughed.
③He asked his students again if the jar was full. They agreed: yes, it was.
The professor then picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up all the remaining space.
④“Now.” said the professor, “I want you to r ecognize that this is your life.”
The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – anything that is so important to you that if it were lost, you would be nearly destroyed. The pebbles are the other things in life that matter, but on a smaller scale. The pebbles represent things
like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff.
⑤If you put the sand or the pebbles into the jar first, there is no room for the rocks. The same goes for your life.
If you spend all your energy and time on the small stuff, or material things, you will never have room for the things that are truly most important. Pay attention to the things that
are critical in your life. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. Talk with your parents. There will
always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. “Take care of the rocks first –the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest
is just pebble s and sand. They will take care of themselves.”
Task2: Talking on a given topic
Directions: Describe a lesson you have learned which has enriched your life experience.
Task3: Role-playing
Student A: You and your friend are discussing what you
are going to do together during this coming summer vacation. Your friend prefers to work in a big company to earn some money. You prefer to do some voluntary work for society. You
try to persuade each other by giving various reasons. Remember you will initiate the conversation.
Student B: You and your friend are discussing what you
are going to do together during this coming summer vacation. Your friend prefers to do some voluntary work for society.
You prefer to work in a big company to earn some money. You
try to persuade each other by giving various reasons. Remember your partner will initiate the conversation.
Task1: Retelling a story
①Anne was a science teacher in a primary school. She loved her job and believed very strongly in practical work as a mea ns of teaching science effectively. ②Once she decided to show her pupils’ parents how well their children were learning. To demonstrate the effectiveness of her methods she invited all the parents to come to the school to see the results of one of the chil dren’s experiments. She scheduled this event for a Saturday evening, so all of the parents would be sure to come.
③The children were studying how plants grow. To see this process for themselves the students had planted four pots of beans. They had put poor soil in one pot to see what effect this would have on the growth of the beans. The other three pots of beans had good soil, but one pot had been placed in a dark room for several days and another pot was not watered
for the same length of time. In this way the children were learning the effects of soil, water and sunlight on the growth of plants.
④At the end of the lesson on Friday afternoon, Anne put labels on the four pots. One label said, “The beans in this pot were planted in poor soil.” Another one said, “This pot has been kept in the dark for four days.” The third label read, “These beans have had no water for four days.” And the last one went like this:“These beans have had good soil, plenty of light and regular water.” Then she went home。
