3A ttach two tube clamps to the left and right sides on the back of theprinter and route the waste ink tube through the clamps as shown.4R emove the outer and inner caps from the waste ink bottle and storethem in a safe place.N ote: Do not throw the caps away; you will need them when disposing of thewaste ink.5Place the caution label for your language over the English label, if necessary. Then, insert the waste ink bottle into the waste ink bottle holder. The bottle and holder should be placed in an area lower than theprinter so that the waste ink can flow straight down.6Insert the waste ink tube into the waste ink bottle. The tube shouldcurve toward the bottle and straight down as shown.Make sure that the tube sits above the yellow line indicated on the outside of the bottle. If the tube is too long, cut the end to the appropriate length.7Connect the power cord. (Do not connect the printer to yourcomputer yet.)Install Ink Cartridges1R emove the ink cartridges from their packages. Gently shake each ink cartridgefor about 15 seconds; white ink cartridges need to be shaken on bothsides. You do not need to shake the cleaning cartridge.Color ink cartridges Caution: Do not touch the green chip on top of the cartridge.2Open the ink covers and install each cartridge into the correct slot for its3C4 P ress the button on the control panel.5F ollow the prompts to select Language , Date & Time , and unit of measurement.6 S elect White Ink/Color Ink and press the OK button.7 Select Yes and press the OK button.8 P ress the OK button at each of the confirmation prompts.9Open the printer cover. Secure the corners with tape.4 M ake sure the height adjustment lever is at the P position.cleaning the print head.9 Replace the platen’s hoop.10 I nstall the ink charging unit and push it down until it clicks into place.Press the OKbutton.1112 T he printer starts charging the ink. This takes about 33 minutes. TheLCD displays a message when the charging is complete.C aution: Do not turn off or unplug the printer while the light is flashing.Also, do not open the ink covers during the charging process.N ote: The first time you install ink cartridges, the printer uses some inkto charge the printing system, so print yields may be lower with the firstcartridges.
