Good morning/afternoon! It is a great pleasure to stand before you today to share my thoughts and insights on the art and craft of anime design. Anime, as we all know, has transcended its origins in Japan to become a global phenomenon, captivating audiences of all ages with its unique storytelling, intricate characters, and vibrant visuals. As an anime designer, I am deeply honored to be part of this creative industry andto contribute to the world of anime.Firstly, let me emphasize the importance of storytelling in anime design. At its core, anime is a form of storytelling, and the design of characters, settings, and environments plays a crucial role in bringing these stories to life. A well-crafted character design can evoke emotions, drive the narrative forward, and leave a lasting impression on the audience. As designers, we must delve into the characters' backgrounds, personalities, and motivations to create visuals that truly represent their essence. One of the key aspects of anime design is the character design. Characters are the heart and soul of any anime, and their appearance should reflect their personalities and roles within the story. When designing characters, we must consider factors such as their facial features, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories. For instance, a protagonist may have a bold and striking appearance to signify their courage and determination, while a villain might have a more menacingand sinister look to convey their malevolent nature. In addition to character design, the setting and background design are equally important. The world in which the story unfolds should be immersive and visually stunning. Whether it is a futuristic cityscape, a mystical forest, or a dystopian wasteland, the setting should complement the narrative and enhance the audience's experience. As designers, we have the responsibility to create detailed and imaginative backgrounds that can transport viewers into another world.Another critical aspect of anime design is the color palette. Colors have the power to evoke emotions and convey mood, and as designers, we must choose our color schemes wisely. Warm colors like red and orangecan evoke passion and anger, while cool colors like blue and green canconvey calmness and sadness. The right use of color can make a scene more impactful and memorable.Animation itself is an art form that requires precision and attention to detail. From the subtle movements of a character's eyes to the fluidity of a scene's transition, every frame is crucial. As anime designers, we must understand the principles of animation, such as squash and stretch, anticipation, and follow-through, to create lifelike and engaging animations. Moreover, collaboration is essential in the world of anime design. Working closely with writers, voice actors, and other artists allows us to bring our ideas to life and create a cohesive and compelling anime series. It is through this collaborative effort that we can push the boundaries of creativity and explore new possibilities within the medium. In conclusion, anime design is a multifaceted art that combines storytelling, character development, and visual artistry. As anime designers, we have the power to shape the world of anime and leave a lasting impact on its audience. We must embrace our creativity, stay true to the essence of the characters and stories, and never lose sight of the magic that lies within the frames of an anime.Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the ever-growing world of anime and to inspire future generations of designers to pursue their passion and leave their mark on this incredible medium. Let us continue to create, innovate, and captivate the hearts and minds of all who watch our animated tales.Thank you.。

英语动漫演讲Manga
MangaBy Josephine ZhangGood afternoon, dear teacher and classmates. After excellent 29 speeches, it’s finally come to my turn. I feel very honored to stand here and begin my presentation. Today I want to talk about something interesting.First, I will show you some pictures.Do these pictures call up your beautiful memories? As you see , my topic is Manga. This is my outline. Here I want to introduce some conceptions of it in briefly.Manga, as a term originally put forword in Japan, refers to comic and anime especially the Japanese ones. Containing stories, manga is typically printed in black-and-white pictures. Only a single episode will be presented at one time in the magazine, and next time another episode will be continued. If the series is successful, collected chapters may be republished in paperback books. If a manga series is popular enough, it will be animated after or even during its run, although sometimes manga are drawn centering on previously existing live-action or animated films.Manga can be classfied according to many reasons. I have list some of them on the PPT page. Manga about action-adventure, for example, One Piece(海贼王); about sports and games, such as The Prince of Tennis(网球王子); about history, such as Hauula Kenshin (浪客剑心); the detective reasoning ones, a very famous one --Detective Conan(名侦探柯南); about science fiction and fantasy, EVA (新世纪福音战士); the ones set their background on the campus, such as Oran High School Host Club(樱兰高校公关部)and many others…Among the mangas I have listed, the Prince of Tennis is one of the most popular comics and anime titles in Japan. It is written by Takeshi Konomi(许斐刚), who has also written a manga called Cool. The manga once was published in the magazine--S hueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump(少年JUMP周刊)in Japan, and even appeared in English in North America by VIZ Media. In 2005, the TV Tokyo showed its final episode. The story is about a group of middle school tennis players who pursue their dreams about tennis. Echizen Ryoma, the main character, also a freshman in the Seishunn school(青学), plays tennis with considerable skill, but dosen’t love tennis. He encountered manyhardships in his school tennis career especially in the Japan middle school tennis games. With the help of his partners and friends and through hardworking, he finally developed the love for tennis and won the champion with his friends of the seishunn’s tennis team. The characters in the manga all have their own attractive personalities. Echizen Ryoma, always has confidence and never give up; Tezuka Kunimitsu, the captain of the tennis team, is very solem and devotes all of his energy to tennis and the tennis team; Fuji Sysuke, having great talent, seems to be smiling all the time and friendly to others…I am moved by their hardworking, persistence, enthusiasm and devotion. As I know the manga has spur many students on to play tennis. Now I will show a clip from the final episode. Never give up, the belief bears firmly in my mind and encourages me always. Then let’s turn to some key words of manga. The term OVA is the abbreviation of Original Video Anime, which is not shown on TV, and only recorded in the DVD tapes. OP and ED mean the theme song and the ending song respectively. The CAST or socalled CV refers the actors who voice the characters in animations. In Japanese manga, CV was socalled Seiyū(声优). Seiyū is a kind of star with beautiful voice and extraodinary skills. Don’t ignore them! They play vital roles in the animations. Without the contributions made by them, the world of manga will be silent and the characters can’t be alive. My favourite Seiyū is Hayashibara Megumi(林原惠美). She started her career as a Seiyū from 1986 until now. She is also famous as a singer and DJ. Her voice is very soft, sweet and sometimes, very cool. That depends on the character she voice. She has dubbed several eminent manga characters, such as Ayanami Rei in EVA and Haibara Ai in Detetive Conan. Those characters are so famous and classic that we fans can’t forget the glamorous voice of Megumi. She has visited China for three times. Her fans in China, and even in the western countries address her The Queen of The Seiyū. I will show you a small section which was casted by my dear Queeni. In the anime, there is a girl called Haibara Ai, who impress me deeply in mind in the manga world. So I want to introduce her to all of you, though some of you have known her. She is one of the heroines in the manga Detective Conan. She looks like a little girl about six or seven years old. But, in fact, she has already been 18 and gotten the MD degree and been forced to stay in a gang in her early life. Her greatest invention is APXT-4869, which can lead the person to death quietly or to make people renew his youth in appearance. Thismedicine helped Ai escape from the supervision of the criminal organization and also caused the main character---Kudou Shinchi who was a high school detective become a little boy---Conan. Though having experienced hardships and living in danger now and then, Haibara Ai assists Conan in investigating and solving cases and keeps fighting against darkness with her intelligence, reason, nonchalance and courage. Now, let’s enjoy the introduction about her in the film of Conan, which have been translated into English.I admire courage, and even her cool personality attracts me a lot. Her tragic story makes me feel a slight of sadness each time when I see her in the manga.I have talked so much about Megumi and Ai, Now let’s turn back to the key word--- cosplay. Cosplay is abbreviated costume play and refers to the activity of dressing up in costume to act the manga character. Cosplay, which originated from Japan, has developed a popular form of entertainment among students and young adults in this state. Now it is gaining more and more popularity. In China, there are many cosplay clubs especially on the campus. In our university, some students majoring in art have organized such kind of activities. This photograph presents the cosplay show on our campus. In spite of the fact that manga has a great influnce on our young generation, there are differet attitudes towards manga. Parents tend to think that manga has many faults. Yeah, one manga work often consists of a large series of books or animations, so it may cost us plenty of time and money and harm our eyes. What’s more, they also think that some manga, such as One Piece and Death Note(死亡笔记), have something violent which may cause improper behaviors and even crimes among children. Some students are too addicted into the world of manga to concentrate on their study or work. It is also a count. In my opinion, manga itself dosen’t have any faults. One chapter only has several pages in magaines or lasts about 20minutes on TV. People who concerning manga know that it updates very slowly. Therefore, i t dosen’t cost you too much time if you have enough self-control. And the manga itself dosen’t preach violence and crime. On the contrast, most mangas admire virtue and end in happiness. Looking around those world famous books, the scenes of crimes and violence also exist. Every coin has its two sides, even the manga. So what it really matters is that how you deal with the informations in the manga, not the manga itself.Actually, the benefits brought by reading and watching mangaare beyond its disadvantages. First, spending 20 or 30 minutes on watching anime everyday can help you feel a lot of fun and get relaxed. Meanwhile, you can find something useful from the manga to widen your horizon and deepen your heart. Considering Dective Conan for instance, you can touch various kinds of knowledge unconsciously. The series provides us with knowledge about psychology, chimney, medicine, history and even about art and literature. Sometimes, the passion for manga may transform into the motivation for studying foreign languages. The most important andvantage is that the characters all have excellent personalities and strong wills which bring great positive influence. Optimistic attitudes, belief of justice, good personal habits, appropriate social manners and other virtues are always taking palce, no matter what the characters encouter. I am greatly inspired by their spirits when I feel frustrated. The perfection in the manga world which may not exist in the real life often encourages me to try my best to be better! At last, I want to mention something about Chinese manga. Most of youth do not like to watch Chinese comics and animes, because they are too juvenile, as is the case of the Legend of Nezha and The Adventure of Paopao. I admit the opinion that the majority of the animes are made for the kids beyond 10. For this reason, Chinese manga could not be regarded as the real manga to a certain extent. However, the career of Chinese manga is on its way. In the recent years, a few works have reached new heights. Qingsmoon(秦时明月), the most representative one, acts as a milestone in the history of Chinese manga. With such kind of progress, I have seen the bright future of Chinese manga!I still remember that when I began to watch the manga series Detetive Conan, I was as young as Conan. Now I am elder than Shinchi, but I still pay close attention to the its update. Maybe some of you also have the same feeling as I do. I believe, in the manga world, no matter how old you are, you have a young heart forever! This is also the reason why I choose this topic and I wish that more friends could share the joyfulness with me. That’s all.Thank you! Thank you for your listening!中文翻译:动漫亲爱的老师和同学,大家下午好。

Good morning/afternoon/evening. It is my great honor to stand before you today and share with you some thoughts that have inspired me throughout my life. As a child, I was captivated by the magical world of animation, and one name that immediately comes to mind is Hayao Miyazaki, the legendary animator and director from Japan. His works, filled with wonder, imagination, and heartwarming messages, have left an indelible mark on the world. Today, I want to talk about the lessons and inspirations we can draw from the life and films of Hayao Miyazaki, and how they can guide us to lead a fulfilling life.Firstly, let us reflect on the power of imagination. Miyazaki once said, "If you want to change the world, you have to imagine it." In his films, we are transported to fantastical worlds that seem impossible, yet they resonate deeply with us. The fantasy worlds he creates are not just escapist, but they also serve as a mirror to our own world, reflecting our fears, dreams, and desires. In "Spirited Away," Chihiro's journey into the spirit world teaches us that imagination can take us to places we never thought possible. It shows us that even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of hope. Miyazaki encourages us to believe in the magic that exists within us and to embrace our dreams with all our hearts.Secondly, the importance of perseverance cannot be overstated.Miyazaki's career is a testament to the power of perseverance. Despite facing numerous challenges, from financial struggles to creative setbacks, he never gave up on his passion for animation. His first film, "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," was a commercial failure, but it did not deter him. Instead, it fueled his determination to create films that would resonate with audiences worldwide.Miyazaki's story teaches us that success is not measured by the accolades we receive or the wealth we accumulate. True success comes from the joy of pursuing our passions, even when the road is filled with obstacles. We must learn to be resilient, to pick ourselves up after every fall, and to continue moving forward with unwavering determination.Another valuable lesson we can learn from Miyazaki is the importance of nature and environmental consciousness. His films often explore the delicate balance between humans and the natural world. In "My Neighbor Totoro," the forest is a place of wonder and magic, but it also serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our planet.Miyazaki's films encourage us to appreciate the beauty of nature and to take responsibility for the future of our planet. He reminds us that we are all connected, and that our actions have consequences. By fostering a deep respect for the environment, we can create a more sustainable and harmonious world for future generations. Moreover, the characters in Miyazaki's films are inspiring role models. They face adversity with courage and determination, and they learn to grow from their experiences. Chihiro's bravery in "Spirited Away," San in "Porco Rosso," and Kaguya in "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya" are just a few examples of characters who show us the strength within ourselves.Miyazaki's characters teach us that it is okay to be different, tofollow our hearts, and to embrace our unique qualities. They remind us that true happiness comes from within, and that we should never beafraid to stand up for what we believe in.In addition, Miyazaki's films often explore themes of love, family, and friendship. The relationships between characters are complex and touching, and they serve as a reminder of the importance of these bonds in our lives. In "Kiki's Delivery Service," Kiki learns the value of independence while still cherishing her connection to her family. In "Ponyo," the bond between a boy and a goldfish transcends the boundaries of time and space. These themes encourage us to nurture our relationships, to be kind and compassionate, and to support each other through thick and thin. Love, in all its forms, is the glue that holds our world together, and it is a force that can inspire us to achieve greatness. In conclusion, the life and films of Hayao Miyazaki offer us a treasure trove of inspiration and wisdom. Through his imagination, perseverance, love for nature, and heartwarming characters, he has touched the lives of millions around the world. As we embark on our own journeys, let us remember the lessons we have learned from Miyazaki. Let us embrace our dreams with passion, persevere through challenges, respect the environment, and nurture our relationships. Let us be brave, kind, and compassionate, and never be afraid to follow our hearts. In the words of Miyazaki himself, "Dreams are like stars—they guide you through the darkness." So let us dream big, let us create our own magical worlds, and let us make a difference in the lives of those around us.Thank you for listening, and may we all be inspired to live a lifefilled with wonder, love, and joy.Thank you.。
