Mother Teresa was one of the greatest women in the world and she made great contributions for the peace of the world. When she finished school, she went first to Britain. Then a year later she went to India, where she began to train to be a teacher. However, although she loved teaching, in 1946, Mother Teresa left the school and went to work in the poor parts of Calcutta. Later she trained to become a nurse in India, and then began her work helping the poor, comforting the poor and the dying in the streets of the city. In 1979, she was given the Nobel Peace Prize for the lifetime of love and service she had given to the
poor.

Beethoven
Beethoven was a great composer. During his life he created many beautiful and famous works. Many of his works are well kept today. At an early age, Beethoven took an interest in music, and his father taught him day and night. At the age of 8, he gave his first known public performance. Though he couldn’t hear anything any more at the age of 45, he still continued to work for his music, and he successfully finished the ninth and tenth symphony at last. It is said that he wrote a great deal more than those well-known works. There are thus hundreds of them have been available only to scholars and specialists until now.

省高中英语优质课牛津高中英语Advance with English Module 2 Unit3. Amazing PeopleWelcome to the Unit说课稿说课教师:教材:课题:Module 2 Unit 3 Amazing peopleWelcome to the unitGood morning, ladies and gentlemen! My name is Dai Jing, from Langxi Senior High school. Here it has been a great honor fbr me to share my understanding of the teaching material with all of you. The lesson I will bring today is Welcome to the unit, chosen from the first part of Unit 3 Amazing people, Module 2 fbr senior One students, which serves as a speaking and writing teaching class. My presentation consists of the following 6 parts:•Analysis of the teaching material1.Status and Functions2.Teaching Objectives3.Teaching Important and Difficult Points•Analysis of students•Analysis of the teaching theories & learning strategies•Theoretical basis•Analysis of the teaching procedures•Blackboard design.•Self-reflectionPart One: Analysis of the teaching material◊Status and FunctionsThe theme of Unit 3 is centered on Amazing people. This part, Welcome to the unit, serves as an introduction to the whole unit, which is aimed at not only introducing the topic of the unit but also guiding students to have a better understanding of the real concept of the word Amazing. After learning the class, students are expected to set up right values and have a distillation of emotion. That is, what makes an amazing person, who are the most amazing people to us in our life and how to show our appreciation.◊Teaching Objectives:L Language competencea. To learn to use some adjectives to describe a personb. To voice their understanding of amazing peoplec. To enhance students' speaking and writing fluency step by step through variousactivities like games, discussions and consolidation exercises, which ultimately contributes to the assessment on lexical quality rather than quantity.2.Learning competencea. To apply the knowledge learned and discussed to the final writing presentation.b. To understand that amazing people can also be ordinary people, thus learning toappreciate others3.Thinking qualityTo help students develop critical thinking and make proper judgments about what makes an amazing person and who are the most amazing people to them.4.Cultural charactera. To help students set up right values and have a clear understanding that beingamazing doesn't necessarily mean being rich or famous; amazing people can also be ordinary people.b.To shape students' personality by carrying out moral education and self-reflectionthrough a poem appreciation and a writing activity entitled a letter to your parents.◊ Teaching important and difficult pointsL Important points:a.Have a general understanding of the qualities an amazing person should possess.b.Learn to use some adjectives to describe those amazing people, then set up a greataim and take action to be amazing students themselves.2. Difficult points:a.Get students to critically think about the real concept of Amazing people andmake proper judgment that amazing people can also be ordinary people.b.How to help students change meaning-focused intake to language-fbcused output.Part Two: Analysis of studentsThis is the first term fbr senior 1 students and Senior 1 is actually a transition from Junior school to Senior high school, which means students need to make some adjustments in their learning approaches to adapt to new requirements. However, fbr most students, they are used to Grammar Translation Method (GTM) and tend to mainly focus on the input of grammar rather than language intake, thus neglecting the importance of speaking and lacking in lexical motivation. Therefore, in this period, all students are encouraged to be active participants rather than passive listeners in class activities, which refers to helping students change receptive learning to productive learning.Part Three: Analysis of teaching theories & learning strategiesTeaching theories:•Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)•Student-centered teaching methodStudents' learning strategies:•Cooperative learning;•Task-Based Learning (TBL)Part Four: Theoretical basis:The New Version of Bloom's Taxonomy:My inspiration fbr the design of this class is based on Bloom's New Version of Taxonomy and my teaching process can be concluded as follows:Interactive input— productive intake -^instructive outputPart Five: Analysis of the teaching proceduresStep 1: Lead-inFirstly, the teacher greets students freely through an interactive activity related to the teacher's scl仁introduction and inspires students to use some adjectives to describe the personality of the teacher, which paves the way fbr the next presentation.Design Durpose:To create a relaxed atmosphere and a harmonious tcachcr-studcnt relationship.Step2: PresentationA guessing game concerning some infoimation related to certain amazing people is played and students arc asked to guess the person and use some adjectives to describe the person, meanwhile, the teacher puts up some relevant adjectives related to these people on the blackboard, of which one letter is picked out, which happens toform the word amazing, thus the topic of the unit is naturally introduced in a specialand interesting way. And then the definition of Amazing will be presented to help with understanding.Design purpose:To introduce the topic of this unit in a special way, which can arouse students * interest in the topic of this unit and stimulate their motivation in learning something more about amazing people.Step 3: Cultural extension1.Free talk and discussion. After the guessing game, students are encouraged to have a free talk and give more examples of amazing people and then have a further thinking about a question: To be amazing students, what should we do?Design Durpose:1.To activate students' background knowledge that they have already possessed andencourage cooperative spirit.2.To help students set up right values and take action to be amazing students.2.Critical thinkingGet students to think about one question: "Does amazing people mean we need to be famous or successful?" To inspire students, critical thinking, a video about Nick Vujicic is shown, an ordinary person who was bom disabled with no arms nor legs, but he has never given up, becoming a motivational public speaker to encourage people around the world to be positive towards life whatever happens. From this video, students can have a clear understanding that amazing people are not necessarily successful in some fields and actually they can be those who have done some common things in our life, such as street cleaners, deliveryman, volunteers, etc. Thus, the topic amazing people can be lifted to ordinary people.Attitude is Altitude.mp4Design purpose:1.To nurture students' spirituality by further discussion and help students developright outlook on life.2.To change the fbcus from famous and amazing to ordinary but amazing..Step4: Consolidation with a mini-conclusionBased on the above discussion, a cloze test will be presented as a conclusion to emphasize the concept of amazing people.Amazing people are those who make great c __________ in different/ _____ and are usually loved and r ______ by people. Some of them have even changed our life for theb ___ through their simple a ____ .Design purpose:1.To reinforce the concept of amazing and reiterate the theme of this class.2.Upgrade from languagc-fbcuscd learning to meaning-fbeused learning and pavethe way fbr the following empathy education.Step 5: Moral educationSince students have already had a clear understanding about what makes an amazing person, then a guessing game is presented and help students understand that among all the amazing persons, our parents are the most amazing.I.Enjoy some pictures and the teacher reads the lines with the background musicWhen You Are Old,and get students to appreciate what our parents have done fbr us and be grateful, and then an opportunity to write a letter to their dad or mom is offered to extend their appreciation to their parents.Self-Reflection for students:Parents have done so much for us , but how much have you done far them? Do you really know them?Ask yourself:Your parents 'birthdays are on _______ .Their size of shoes are ______ .Their favorite colors are _________ .Their favorite flowers are ________ .They wish ________ mostly.(sample of letter)Dear ______ ,Today I am going to tell you something really special. With lots of love,Your son/daughter 2.Invite some students to share their letters with the whole class in the front, thenput it up on the blackboard, make some comments and guide students to do somesimple things to show their appreciation to their parents, like doing some cleaning, washing their feet, etc.Design Durpose:1.To establish a scenario of appreciating parents' love, thus sublimating the emotion.2.To reshape students' thinking quality by self-reflection.Step 6: SummaryMaybe our parents arc not as good-looking as film stars, maybe our parents arc not as rich as Bill Gates, or maybe our parents are not smart enough like Tu youyou, or even sometimes they are very tough to us, but we know how much they have done fbr us and how much they love us. Whenever we are upset or depressed, they are always right there with their firm and strong arms to give us a warm hug.Design purpose:The process of learning in Education is not merely to teach students knowledge but to shape their personality.
