The hero of this book is a little prince, who comes from other planets. The story’s teller was a pilot, who told about the little prin ce’s kinds of adventures, during he set out from his own planet to the Earth. This book is not only a fairy tale, but also a novel for young and old. There are deceit and dishonesty in adult’s life, the sincere friendship between the pilot and the little p rince and the pure love between the little prince, the rose and the fox. The little prince had affection for the rose, who did not understand how to love others. But the fox loved the pure little prince. While the Second World War broke out, people were in deep distress and had no time for loving. Therefore, the views of love in this book are different forms the Frenchmen’s view of love at that time. And there are similarities and differences in all of the four views of love, as well as, the causes of these views of love are diverse from each other. 小王子深爱着不懂得如何去爱的玫瑰，狐狸却爱着纯洁的小王子。

而当时正值第二次世界大战，人们处在水深火热之中，也无暇顾及爱情。

因此，书中的爱情观和当时社会法国人的爱情观是不一样的，而小王子，玫瑰和狐狸的爱情观也有各自的不同点和相同点，并且其中原因各不相同。

这也正是笔者接下来在论文中所要分析的。

The writer explained the true meaning of love by the emotional conflict of the little prince, the rose and the fox. Above all, this paper will introduce the background of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and the plotline of The Little Prince .After that, analyze the views of love in this book: Frenchmen’s view of love in 20th century，the little prince’s view of love, the rose’s view of love and the fox’s view of love. Then, analysis the causes of different views of love and compare the similarities and differences of the four views of love. At last, make a conclusion. Thereby, deeply understand the writer’s inward world and his writing intention is extremely significant.2.The background of Antoine de Saint-ExupéryAntoine de Saint-Exupéry was French aviator and writer. His most famous work is The Little Prince, a children’s fable for adults, which has been translated into over 150 languages. It is the best-selling book after the Bible. It has become one of the classics of children’s literature of the 20th century. He was born in Lyons into an aristocratic family of other provinces; one of his ancestors had fought with the Americans at Yorktown. On July 31, 1944 Saint-Exupéry took off from an airstrip in Sardinia on a flight over southern France. His plane disappeared - he was shot down over the Mediterranean, or perhaps there was an accident, or it was suicide.Saint-Exupéry’s other works include the novels The Southern Mail (1928), Night Flight (1931), The Human Earth(1939), Fortress, Cloud On the Day, novel Air Force Pilot (1942) and so on.3. The book The Little PrinceIn this book, the little prince is an extraordinary and refined child. He lived in a small planet, which only a little bigger than him. There was a rose accompanied him,and he liked her very much. Yet, the rose’s vanity had hurt his emotion. Thus, the little prince left his planet and began to space travel. He visited other six planets successively, all kinds of people and things, which he saw and heard, made him became confoundedly sad. He felt that adult were ridiculous and too abnormal. Only on a planet, where lived a lamplighter. The little prince found that he can make friend with this man. However, this planet was too narrow to stay, except the lamplighter. After a geographer gave a direction to him, the lonely little prince came to the Earth, where human live in. He discovered that human lacked of imagination who just repeat the words of others like a parrot. At this moment, the little prince missed his rose very much, who stayed in his planet. Afterwards, he came across a fox and tamed it by his patience. At length, they became best friends. The fox gave the little prince a present, which is the fox’s secret, the things you cannot see by your eyes, only can use your soul to understand. The little prince used this secret to find a spring with the pilot together, who lost in the Sahara Desert. Ultimately, the little prince left the Earth and came back to his own planet, with the help of the snake.Ⅱ. The Views of Love in the Little Prince1. Frenchmen’s view of love in 20th century2.1 The social background of France in 20th centuryAt the beginning of 20th century, with the development of capitalism to a imperialism stage, the whole western materialistic society, moral decay, especially the outbreak of twice World Wars, the world has reached a critical juncture to the survival of people, almost collapsed for the original spirit of faith, the whole world was in chaos. During this period, people affected by the war, filled in panic and fear of the world. They swept away and the original spiritual pillar and human civilization emerged as an enemy of the state, between man and nature, man and society.2.2 The characteristics of the FrenchmenThe Frenchmen is a sober nation, they love life, not irreparable for sorrow, with some exceptions. In France, love frustration often one soon broken out, few peoplehave a long suffering love and suicide. The most severe critic of French style love—Stendha finds that the most fundamental characteristic and important motive is vanity. The little prince’s view of loveAlthough, the little prince was just a child, he had the most pure, actual and affecting emotions .He had two lovers, the rose and the fox, hence his attitudes were different.For the rose, he had responsibility and possessive. He always stressed the responsibility of his own roses, and stressed that he was the only one with roses. “Of course, an ordinary passerby would think my rose looked just like you. But my rose, all on her own, is more important than all of you together, since she’s the one I’ve watered. Since she’s the one I put on the glass. Since she’s the one I sheltered behind a screen. Since she’s the one for whom I killed the caterpillars (expect the two or three for butterflies). Since she’s the one I listened to when she complained, or even sometimes when she said nothing at all. Since she’s my rose.” (Antoine, 2013) According to this paragraph, the little prince thought that he was responsible for the rose, and he wanted to protect her from danger. In his point of view, the rose is too delicate and innocent to protect. She belonged to him. The little prince and the rose, was the best expression of love, that was not bust tolerance and playfully capricious.Though, the fox made the little prince tamed herself. Through contact with the fox, the little prince understood that love is a kind of connection, yet it is more important to establish contact. Contact is not only natural, but also on the day after tomorrow's training. If you use the link to describe the active feature of love, it should be given rather than accepted. This offer is not a premise, not means to give up something, orsacrifice something. With the ability to love, give a completely different meaning to a pers. The rose’s view of loveThe rose was obviously a proud princess. She was elegant and beautiful, the little prince could not suppress his admiration; she lacked of a sense of security, with only four thorns to protect herself; she loved little prince, which was subject to changing moods, do not know how to express her tenderness; everyone knows that she is more fragile, although she was still pretending to be strong.After the proud Rose met the little prince, her heart is not “very low, low, low to the dust, but her heart is glad, from the dust out of flowers, ” (圣埃克, 2013) But she was selfish and hopes to get the little prince to her fuller of love, stingy to pay their share of love. She was eager to be loved, yet don't know how to love other, she did not understand that love is mutual.Love is a business, but rose has thorns. She wanted to caterpillars, butterflies, sometimes spoiled and silence. Accordingly, quarrel was can hardly be avoided. Rose's soul is fragile, and affectionate, she needed to care. With her sensitive over suspicious vanity tortured the little prince, hate drafts. And said that the planet was too cold, she was not a liar gets angry with the little prince.（Zhang，2011) Maybe she was too proud that some hypocritical. Rose was in bloom, soon put the little prince cruelly toss, not much of her story, her vexatious, let the little prince suspicious of her. Rose for words and not a grown child, really childish some people may laugh or cry. She did not express her true thought, until the little prince gone. Just like the little prince, she found that they all too stupid, to know how to love. The rose wants to win the little prince's sympathy, and get a little prince’s more love. However, the little prince did not understand the deep love of her, but the return of roses was decisive to leave. The little prince wanted to leave, rose did not retain him. She was only a little proud of her strong hold back the pain. She exudes romantic and sentimental atmosphere of nature make people think of pure love. The fox’s view of loveIt was the first appearance of the fox, while the little prince found himself deceived by the rose, which disillusioned his great prince of dream. I will know the sound of footsteps that will be different from all of the rest…And I will love the sound of the wind in wheat...” (Antoine, 2013).By this token, the fox was the soul of this book, the real heroine, clever and cunning. She was not eager to make friend with the little prince, but only tell him the true meaning of love. The similarities of four views of loveAfter analyzed these four views of love, author find that there are some similarities in the four views of love. Frenchmen’s view of love had impact on his writing. This is the reason why, Frenchmen’s view of love and the views of love inthe book have four similarities.In the first place, Frenchmen is a sober nation, by coincidence, when the fox first appearance, it refused the little prince’s love, which shows that it was not a casual person in love. In other words, the fox was an unusual sober girl. In the next place, the rose was a little bit vain, which cause the little prince left her to begin a space travel. Just like Frenchmen, when they choose a fashionable mistress to participate in a banquet, they according to their own social status. Then, in France, maybe no one can keep their own secret of love. Thus, the little prince always stressed the responsibility of his own rose, and he was the only one with rose. He wanted everyone to know the fact that the rose was his lover. Bitter end, the rose and the little prince are all break out when they suffering the frustration of love. As it should be, Frenchmen are the same.All in all, in a few aspects, these four views of love have four similarities: They are sober, vain; no one can keep their own secret of love. ConclusionAbove all, this paper introduced the background of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and the plotline of The Little Prince .After that, analyzed the views of love in this book: Frenchmen’s view of love in 20th century, which divided into two small parts: the social background of France in 20th century and the characteristics of the French; The little prince’s view of love, the rose’s view of love and the fox’s view of love. Finally, analyzed the causes of different views of love and compared the similarities and differences of the four views of love.Through the analysis the different views of love in this book, author found that, the views of love in this book has a deeply meaning. It almost included all the questions about love in life and provided a good reference for people. More importantly, will resonate with them and touched by the experience of the characters in the book.The little prince was a very responsible sort of person, who always responsible for the rose. The rose was a lovely girl except that a little proud and desired to be protected. They just like many ordinary boys and girls in love. The fox was clever and cunning, but not a casual person in love. Maybe, she will be a mature and sensible girl in real life. In a sense, this book is a ‘book of love’.Everyone will learn some useful experience from it.Love is a permanent topic of literature.Among the more curious questions that can be asked about love is this: when one feels romantic love, does he feel it in breaks, with interruptions or changes, or does he feel it continuously, without interruption or change?Maybe the answer is the first one.
