Step 1. Greetings and free talk
T: Look at the pictures on the screen, There are two people, and one is from the ancient time, while the other is from the present time. Both of them want to go to school. How do they get there? What are their transportions?
Ss:……
T: Apparently, the ancient boy will walk, and walk tiredly to get there. Now, I will ask you how about the present boy?
Ss: walk , take the bus , ride a bike……
T: Very good, OK , today we will learn Unit 3
Step2. Pre-Task
1. Learn the new words and phrases, let the students look at the pictures on the screen, and then answer the following questions: How does he/she get to school? How do you get to school? Then write down the sentence” How do you get to school?” on the blackboard. Help the students to answer “take the subway, take the train, ride a bike, on foot .”
2. Play a guessing game. How does he/she get to work? I’ll ask the students about the cartoon characters such as Yao Ming, Princess Snow Whit, Zhou Jielun, LiuXiang and more.
3. Work on 1a
Ask the students to complete 1a, then check the answer with them.
Step3. Task-cycle
1.Work on 1b
Before I play 1b. I ask the students: how do you get to school? I want them to remember the ways of transportation. And I play 1b, let the students to complete 1b, the check the answer. And then let the students listen and imitate the dialogue.
2. Pair work
Ask two students read the conversation, then let the student practice in pairs. After that, ask them to practice in groups like this:
A: How do you get to school?
B: I take a subway.
C: How does B get to school?
D: He takes a subway.
Encourage them to use different words and find out the best group.
Step 4. Post-task
It’s time to consolidate them .Tell the students another way of these
sentences on the screen and practice. In this step, tell the students: take the/a transportation to sw and get/go to sw by transportation have the same meaning. Pay attention to the phrase”get home, get there”.
Step 5. Conclusion
Firstly, summarize the useful expressions. Secondly, tell students although kinds of vehicles can bring us convenience, it brings us dangers. We should obey the transportation rules and be careful of our safety all the time.
Step 6. Homework
Make a survey and give a report. Interview your classmates or our teachers by using the following questions: How do you get to school? How does he get to school? And then give reports to us. Make conversations according to the pictures.

围绕交通方式展开，谈论某人如何到达某地，路程有多远，需要花多长时间。
第一课时学生需要掌握基本三个句型，即How do you get to school?（How does …get to school?） How long does it take ？How far is it from … to …? 和交通方式的两种表达形式，即take the/a…to…与go…by …，这与学生的日常生活密切相关，学生熟悉，乐于学习，易于学习。
