第一节是教师与考生对话，时间约为2分钟，主要考查考生初次见面时向别人提供个人信息（如姓名、出生地、职业、家庭等）的能力。
第二节是由两位考生互相对话交流，时间约为5分钟。
教师不参与交谈，仅以信息卡的形式提供交谈话题。
这主要考查考生根据信息卡内容就具体事实互相问答的能力。
信息卡上的信息涉及到日常生活、娱乐和社会活动等。
第三节是口试教师与考生之间的对话，口试教师将根据第二节的话题向两个考生各提出2~3个问题，时间约为3分钟。
此节主要考查考生提供详细信息及阐述个人观点的能力。
2. 评分原则与方法PETS第二级口试主要从以下3个方面评估考生口语能力：（1）语法和词汇。
要求能够用基本准确的句法和恰当的词语进行表达，从而有效地传递信息，允许有语法和词汇方面的小错。
（2）语音和语调。
要求考生语音、语调基本正确，这主要包括单词发音的清晰度、连读、重音、节奏以及语调运用的程度恰当。
只要不对理解造成影响，允许考生在表达时带有母语口音。
（3）互动交际。
这主要考查考生相互交流、共同完成交际任务的能力。
要求考生应该能够参加简单的口头交际活动，能恰当地进行应答和导入话题，从而使交流继续，或能进行交流补救而不至于使交流活动中途停顿。
3. 口试涉及的交际话题所涉及的话题有：(1) Personal Identification, People(2) Home and Family, Environment(3) Daily Life(4) Food and Drink(5) Leisure Activities (e.g. sports, parties, etc)(6) Education(7) Popular Science(8) Holiday(9) Shopping(10)Health and Health Care(11)Weather and Climate(12)Places(13)Travel(14)Services (e.g. hotel, post office, etc)(15)Social Relations二、专项指导PETS第二级的口试试题内容涉及广泛，包括个人情况、家庭、日常生活、饮食、业余活动、教育、科普、假日、购物、健康、天气、地点、旅行、各种服务（如宾馆、邮局等）社会关系等等。
这就要求考生具有较强的英语运用能力和扎实的基本功，而这些教要求考生平时进行大量的口头训练，包括朗读、模仿地道的语音语调、熟记英语口语中常用的句型和句式、用英语与他人交谈等。
1. A节：考试要点与备考指导在A节中，主要是由教师与考生进行对话，考核考生对个人情况的介绍，来检查考生回答有关日常生活、家庭、工作、学习等问题的能力。
所以针对此节考试的侧重点，考生应注意以下几点：(1)考前可根据大纲的交际话题范围，设想可能出现的问题，然后根据这些问题归纳有关词汇和表达法，熟读并牢记，最后可进行模拟问答练习，常见的关于个人情况的问题如：For adult candidatesWhere do your come from?/Where are you from?Are you a student or do you work here?What do you do/study?/What’s your job?Do you like studying…/your job? Why (not)?For teenagers at schoolWhere do you come from?/Where are you from?What do you study?What subjects do/did you study?What subjects do/did you like best? 这样在考试过程中才能应付自如，从而取得满意的成绩。
(2)在此节中应注意礼节性问候语及交际功能性语言的运用，例如觉的问候语及自我介绍等。

但有时考官的问题会略加修改，这时考生应懂得变通，重新根据问题组织答案，以免被问题蒙住。
2. B节：考试要点与备考指导在B节考试中，主要是由两位考就所提供的话题互相对话交流，主要考核考生用英语进行讨论和相互交流的能力，检验考生在表达自己的观点以及对对方观点的瓜程度，是否能主动展开话题引导对方进行讨论。
考生在表达自己观点或进行讨论时，需注意以下两点：(1)交谈时，应注意说话内容的完整性和运用语法和词汇的准确性。
运用语法和词汇的准确性，这主要取决于个人英语的实际水平以及平时大量的口头训练。
由于此部分主要是两位考生根据卡片所提供的信息进行一问一答的交流活动，因此考生应熟悉特殊疑问句的表达法以及相应的回答。
如在考试大纲中考试样题相关部分：题目1：口试教师：Candidate B, you want to see a film, but you don’t know anything about it. Ask Candidate A to tell you. 如信息卡不含某一所需信息，考生A可以表示歉意并说明自己不知道，也可以利用背景知识或思像力提供该信息。
考生在进行完四五个来回的对话后，口试教师要求其停止并按规定互换身份而用一套新卡片进行对话。
因此考生应对特殊疑问句的问与答都要熟悉，以便在口试中熟练地应付，尤其是对时间和地点的提问与回答。
如：时间•时刻对时刻的提问往往由疑问副词when来引导：When does she get up every day?She gets up at 7:00 every morning.When will the school begin?The school will begin in September.•时段对时段的提问往往用how long来提问：How long did the show last?The show lasted three hours.How long will his father stay in London?His father will stay in London for three years.•频度对频度的提问通常用how often来提问：How often should she take the medicine?She should take the medicine twice a day.How often did she usually write home?She usually wrote home every other week.地点对地点的提问往往用疑问副词where来引导。
在描述地点时，先说小地方，后说大地方：Where is the flat?No.100 on Tianlin Road.(2)考生在交谈时，注意说话的语气和习惯应符合交际常规，恰当地使用功能性意念表达。
例如：没有听懂对方时，可请求重复或解释，进行交流补救：Uh.
