就目前而言，较为流行的英语作文写作方法分为结果写作法与过程写作法。
本文将详细分析了结果写作法与过程写作法的理论基础、主要写作方式以及他们彼此的优缺点，提出根据学生的实际情况，将这两种方法融合在一起，互相取长补短的英语作文写作方法。

一、过程写作法与结果写作法的理论背景
目前结果写作法与过程写作法是学生英语作文写作教学中最为流行，其中过程写作法是备受关注和推崇的。
1、过程写作法。
（1）理论背景。
过程写作法的理论依据是交际法。
交际法又叫功能法，源于上世纪70 年代末西方语言学家和写作课教师对写作教学的研究，它的出发点就是在交际活动中表达意念，以培养学生掌握交际技能为目的，要求教学目的交际化，强调在真实
的社会情境中使用真实的语言进行交际活动。
过程写作法把写作重心放在学生的写作过程上，学生在写作过程这一关键阶段也及时得到了老师和同学的帮助、反馈和指导。
这种集体创作在培养学生写作能力，调动学生的积极性和开发学生思维能力方面起到了较好的作用。
（2）主要环节。
过程写作法主要分为四个阶段。
第一，写前准备阶段。

1、准备阶段。
教师先采用结果教学法提供并分析范文，就其语言内容及修辞等进行讲评，使学生有足够的语言知识的输入且对成功的文章有较为清楚的概念，鼓励学生模仿范文的写作结构、题材等，同时传授一些写作技巧以指导写作。
然后教师通过各种活动，比如小组讨论，启发性提问，构建蛛网图等，使学生确立主题并对此主题获得尽量多的素材，这样有了足够的信息输入。
学生写作信心大增，为下一步信息的输出做好了足够的准备。
2、反馈阶段。
在学生确立写作的主体及内容后，便进入动笔写作阶段，应注意思路的连贯性，务必抛开语法选词等技术性问题，一气呵成地把思想完整地记录下来，避免顺畅的思想受阻，杜绝写到一半就停下来从头阅读的毛病。
初稿完成后，可两人一组互批文章，教师提供如下批改的标准：a 主题是否突出；b 结构是否合理；c 内容是否充实；d 思路是否清晰；e 句子是否与主体相关；f过渡句或过渡词是否使文章更加流畅；g 是否有语法错误或拼写错误或用词不当。
3、修改阶段。
