I. Breif introduction
Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, lies in the hinterland of the Chengdu Plain, in central Sichuan. Chengdu enjoys a long history. 2,500 years ago, Kaiming , king of ancient Shu in the Zhou Dynasty (11th century ), started to set up the capital in Chengdu. A town was built in this area in the first year and the capital in the second year, so the ancestor named the city as Chengdu, which means to become a capital.
Located in the south suburb of Chengdu, the temple covers 37,000 square meters. The date of its establishment is unclear, only that it was built next to the temple of Liu Bei, the emperor of Shu. It was combined with the Temple of Liu Bei at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty. Surrounded by old cypresses （柏树）and classical red walls, the temple evokes nostalgia（乡愁）.
Located just 10km (6miles) away from downtown Chengdu, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center has been created and imitated the pandas' natural habitat in order that they might have the best possible environment for rearing and breeding.

Du Fu Thatched Cottage
Du Fu Thatched Cottage used to be the former hone of Du Fu, one of the greatest poets in the Tang Dynasty. Located in the western suburbs of Chengdu, the spot is marked by a stream, ancient style architecture, pavilion pagodas(阁塔) and age old trees.

The giant pandas are not only a Chinese national treasure but are also beloved by people the world over. They are found only in Sichuan, Shanxi and Gansu provinces. In total ,there are fewer than 1000, of which 80% are distributed within the territory of Sichuan province. Therefore, when visitors from home and abroad come to Chengdu, one of their main objectives will be to see the giant pandas for themselves.
Some very old alleys are in Chengdu where some important people had lived. After its reconstr uction, the Broad and Narrow Alley has been reopened to pubic and is no w, one of the hottest tourist destination in Chengdu.
