Peopleeat more when they are glued to the television, and the moreentertaining the program, the more they eat, according to a new research.

Itseems that distractedbrains donot notice what the mouth is doing, said Dr Alan Hirsch, neurological directorof the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago. Hirschexplored the effect of smell, taste and eating behaviors while watching TV bymeasuring the number of potato chip eaten.

Forty-fivevolunteers ate as many chips as they wanted while they

watched programs bylate- night talk show hosts David Letterman and Jay Leno. They were also givenchips to eat when the television was off. Hirsh found people ate an average of44 percent more chips while watching Letterman and 42 percent more whileviewing Leno, than when they did not watch TV.

“Ifyou can concentrate on how the food tastes you’ll eat less because you’ll feelfull faster,” Hirsch said in an interview all the Endocrine Society’s annualmeeting in Toronto. “So if that’s the case, let’s look at the opposite. What ifyou’re distracted? If you’re distracted, in theory then, eat more.”

Throughhis research at the foundation, Hirsch has helped people overcome the loss ofsense and taste sensation, which typically results in weight gain became thebrain does not know when it should stop eating.

It is at Agra in northern India. It lies beside the River Jumna in the middle of gardens with quiet pools. The Taj Mahal was built by the Mogul emperor Shah Jehan, who ruled India in the 17th century. It is in memory of his favorite wife, Arjumand Banu Bagam, known as Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631.The building, which was completed between 1632 and 1638, was designed by a local Muslim architect(建筑师) Ustad Ahmad Lahori.
