必须说明，短片单元还有一座金棕榈奖，相当于奥斯卡方面的“最佳真人短片”。
但约定俗成的“金棕榈大奖”，仅指主竞赛单元的那枚棕榈枝（长片）。
金棕榈难于攻陷的程度毫不亚于奥斯卡最佳影片的小金人。
3.柏林国际电影节金熊奖金熊奖（Golden Bear）是柏林国际电影节授予电影的最高奖项。
主要授予最佳故事片、纪录片、科教片、美术片等。
柏林国际电影节[2]，原名西柏林国际电影节，欧洲第一流的国际电影节之一。
五十年代初由阿尔弗莱德·鲍尔发起筹划，得到了当时的联邦德国政府和电影界的支持和帮助，1951年6月底至7月初在西柏林举行第一届。
80年代，每年30～40个国家和地区参加，放映影片200～300部。
电影节每年举行一次。
原在6～7月间举行，1978年起，为了和法国的戛纳国际电影节竞争，提前至2月底到3月初举行，为期两周。
