I discovered some surprising favorites among my friends - who knew Billy was such a big fan of romantic novels?Talking about favorites was not only fun but helped me realize how diverse everyone's interests are. Pierre prefers action movies while Emma loves comedies. Samantha is a basketball fanatic whereas I can't get enough of swimming. The world would be so boring if we all liked the exact same things!Unit 2: My Daily RoutineUp next was a unit focused on describing our daily routines and schedules. As a young teenager, my daily life is a constant juggling act between school, extracurriculars, homework and (hopefully) some fun activities sprinkled in.The key grammar points covered were using simple present tense for habits/routines and telling time. Phrases like "I get up at 7 am every day" and "I usually have soccer practice from 4 to 6 pm" became second nature. Mastering telling time was trickier, but I got the hang of it: "School starts at quarter to 9" or "I go to bed around 10:30 pm."We also learned some useful vocabulary related to daily activities like "get dressed", "have breakfast/lunch/dinner", "walk the dog", "do homework", and more. Sequencing words like "first", "next", "after that", and "finally" helped us describe our routines in an organized way.One amusing assignment was keeping a handwritten daily schedule and then swapping with a partner to see how our days differed. I was shocked by how early Brian's day starts for football practice at 5:30 am! Some of my classmates have part-time jobs, others are in the school band, and a few are committed scouts or volunteers. Our routines are like intricate puzzles we piece together day by day.Unit 3: Activities and HobbiesThe third unit allowed us to dig deeper into discussing our free time activities, interests and hobbies. As middle schoolers, we're at an age where we're still exploring new potential hobbies while holding on to beloved childhood pastimes.Early on, we learned to use phrases like "I'm interested in ___" or "My hobby is ___" to simply state our hobbies and interests. Verbs like "play", "do", "go", "watch", and "read" were paired with different hobby words - "I play video games", "I do karate", "I go hiking".Expressing frequency was key too, using adverbs like "often", "sometimes", "rarely", "never", and "every day/week/month". I'm really excited to tell you all about my new school year so far. The first few months have been a whirlwind of new classes, new teachers, and lots of new things to learn!Unit 1 was all about "Greetings" and how to properly introduce yourself in English. I already knew some basic greetings like "hello" and "how are you?" from primary school. But we learned more advanced ways to greet people, like "It's a pleasure to meet you" and "I'm delighted to make your acquaintance." It was a bit tricky getting all the new vocabulary and expressions down at first. My English teacher, Ms. Roberts, had us do lots of role-playing activities where we pretended to meet new people at parties or business events. I have to admit, I felt a little silly at times acting all formal and proper! But I know it's an important skill, especially if I ever want to study or work abroad someday.In Unit 2, we studied "Countries and Nationalities." I was pretty familiar with naming countries and nationalities already from geography class. But in English, there are some funny little quirks you have to watch out for. Like how people from China are "Chinese", but people from Vietnam are "Vietnamese" instead of "Vietnamish." And for some countries, the nationality is totally different from the country name, like for Turkey (the nationality is "Turkish") or Switzerland ("Swiss"). We had to memorize all those irregular ones through chants and songs. A few of them still trip me up sometimes! This unit also taught us how to ask people "Where are you from?" and describe where we're from using phrases like "I'm from..." or "My home country is..."That brings me to Unit 3, which focused on "Family Members." In Chinese, we have specific terms for family relationships like maternal grandparents versus paternal grandparents. But in English, it's a bit simpler - you just have "grandmother" and "grandfather." We learned vocabulary for nuclear family members like parents, siblings, etc. as well as extended family like aunts, uncles, and cousins. One thing I thought was really interesting is how in English you specify if your aunt is on your mom's side or dad's side by saying "paternal aunt" or "maternal aunt." We don't really do that as much in Chinese.The hardest part about this unit for me was using possessive pronouns correctly. Like, you say "my mother" but "her daughter" - you can't say "sheherdaughter." Getting those right was really tricky at first because in Chinese we don't actually use separate possessive adjectives that way. But after a bunch of practice exercises and worksheets, I finally started getting the hang of it.We also learned how to describe our families using simple sentences like "I have two younger brothers" or more complex sentences like "My aunt is a nurse and she works at the hospital downtown." Describing family members' personalities, occupations, and other details like that was great writing practice. For the Unit 3 test, we even had to write a whole paragraph about our families!So those are the highlights from my first three units of7th-grade English so far. “吃包子啊?”睡意还没有全消的我指着桌上的一盘包子说道。
“你昨天晚上不是说你早上要吃包子么?”母亲还在厨房里忙活,空闲的部位只剩下
一张嘴来跟我说话。
双手还要继续炒菜。
“哦~!”我想起了昨天晚上的确是告过妈妈早上想吃包子,当时的我只是随意的一说,没想到妈妈倒是记住了。
“快洗漱哇,洗完以后快来吃吧,要不就凉了。
”
桌上的包子还冒着白气,看样子是刚蒸出来的。
那时的我认为,不就是盘简单的包子嘛,没什么大不了的,应该不需要母亲费多大功夫去做的。
吃完包子的我满意的说了句“好吃。
”因为快迟到了,提起书包就往外走,也就没有
注意到母亲脸上的一丝笑容。
去到学校,听见同学们都哭丧的说:“饿死啦,饿死啦。
我都没吃早饭。
放学的时候
又得买小吃了。
”
“这还不简单?让你们妈妈做就得了么。
”在我眼里,母亲做饭是一件简单得不能再
简单的一件事情了。
“呵,你倒说得轻巧,我妈才懒得做哩,她还顾自己睡懒觉呢,哪儿舍得早早爬起来
给我做早餐了,何况这初中又不同于小学的上学时间。
”
这时我才意识到,母亲这顿早餐的不同寻常和母亲对我的爱。
中午放学,我的好朋友们都要在学校附近买一些小吃,烤面筋呀,麻辣拌呀,手抓饼呀,这些都是她们的家常便饭。
她们甚至饿的连骑车子回家的力气都没有了。
她们羡慕我,羡慕我的母亲,更羡慕母亲的早饭。
据了解,做成一笼包子,起码前天晚上先和好面,第二天早晨再早早的起来包好馅儿,再蒸。
那么,母亲要做好一笼包子,不仅要先和面,还得第二天早上5点钟就起来包馅儿。
母亲愿意牺牲她的睡眠时间,来换取我这一天的学习精力。
碰到儿时的朋友或者阿姨,都在向母亲询问给我做什么好吃的,能把我养的1米75

妈妈总是会心的一笑,露出了满足的笑脸。
在一旁做样品的我心想:有谁能知

每天天还没亮的时候,厨房里忙碌的身影,那便是母亲;制造出各种厨具相互碰撞的
声音的,便是母亲;每天坐在我旁边等待我吃完说一句“好吃”的,便是母亲;做出一道又
一道美味可口的早饭的,便是母亲。
一顿早餐,本是一个在旁人眼里特别简单的事情,但是母亲的早餐里包含的不仅仅是
色香味全,还饱含着那不简单的母爱。
当我每天骑着自行车奔波在上学的路上时,母亲的早餐的能量已经让我整个身体里的
血液全部沸腾。
