《高级英语》教学大纲一、使用说明（一）课程性质英语专业高年级主干核心课程。
（二）教学目的《高级英语》是一门训练学生综合英语技能的课程。
通过阅读和学习社会、文化、语言、文学、教育等各个方面的材料，扩大学生的知识面，加深学生对中西社会文化差异的了解，培养学生运用英语进行思维和表达的能力，以提高其英语语言技能，具体如下：1、采用启发式教学，强化教学环节，引导学生独立思考、培养学生的英语逻辑思考能力；2、使用广泛的选材，以扩大学生的文化知识，并使之熟悉不同的文体；3、通过完成针对课文内容所编写的大量语言练习，巩固扩大学生的语言知识，继续打好语言基本功底；4、要求学生完成不同类型的练习，以培养英语综合技能；5、加强学生口头讨论主题的比重；6、给学生较大的语言输入量，以保证学生由充分的语言摄取量；7、在四年级教学中，使学生在理解课文的基础上，提出更具有推理性的问题，启迪学生深入思考。
（三）教学时数本课程开设在第三、四年级，教学时数总计为185学时。
（四）教学方法高级英语在课堂上主要采取启发式教学，引导学生对所学课文进行思考与讨论，并由教师进行点评；要求学生课前预习，积极参与课堂讨论。
1、在教学的不同环节，启发学生进行不同的活动。
比如，在课文前有课前思考题，查工具书等活动；课文后的理解题除了针对大意、细节的问题外，更有推理性问题，启迪学生深入思考。
在篇章结构、文体分析等方面，要求学生自行解释分析（根据每课所学的特定基础知识）。
2、利用多种不同的体裁，使学生不仅学到大量的人文科学方面的诸多知识，还要了解不同类型的说明文、记叙文、论述文等。
通过学习课文，使学生对当代英语的不同侧面、西方社会和文化、地理现象、能源危机、人才教育等方面加深认识。
只有这样，学生才能在扩大知识面的同时学到优美的语言。
3、首先阅读教材，重视语言基本功的训练。
提高学生的阅读技能，加强基本功的训练。
每课后编有大量的相关词汇、句法练习。
比如，词义辨析、同义词、反义词、构词法、句型转换等等。

要求在理解的基础上分析文章的思想观点、语篇结构、语言特点和修辞手法。
2）选材涉及政治、经济、社会、语言、文学、教育、哲学等方面的名家作品，体裁多样。
学生阅读后能够进行说、写、译方面的表达：能够比较系统地口头描述所阅读材料的概要，能够比较流畅和准确地跟同学交流自己的思想和观点；能够写出故事梗概、读书报告等，还能够撰写课程论文以及正式的书信等，要求内容充实、语言正确，表达得体，具有一定的思想深度；能够运用翻译理论和技巧对所阅读的材料进行英汉互译，译文忠实原文，语言通顺。
3）学生能够熟练使用各种英英词典、大型百科全书，独立解决语言问题和部分知识方面的疑难问题，能够有效地通过计算机网络查阅资料，获取知识，独立从事某些简单课题研究。
4）学生能够加深对当代英语的不同侧面，西方社会和文化等的认识，能够在扩大知识面的同时习得语言，提高文化素养。
二、学生在选读本课程之前应具有的语言知识和能力1) 具有比较扎实的语言基本知识，掌握一定的听、说、读、写、译技能以及各项技能的综合运用能力；2）大量阅读英语简易读物，基本看懂英语原著，具有较好的语言理解能力、分析能力、综合能力与概括能力；具有一定的思维能力和语言学习过程中的发现问题和解决问题等创新能力；3）具有课外自主收集相关阅读材料进行拓展性学习的能力；4）具有英汉语言和英汉文化差异的敏感性，掌握一定的跨文化交际能力。

要求学生在词语运用方面，能掌握同义词和反义词在意义和使用上的区别；在阅读理解方面，能正确理解文章的内容、主题思想和文体风格，能抓住文章的要点和隐含意义，能分析文章的结构布局、语言技巧和修辞特点，能辨认和理解文章中所使用的各类修辞手段；在表达能力方面，能用英语解释文章的意义。
对难句进行英语释义和翻译有一定难度的汉语短文，用英语归纳文章的主题思想，并就文章的主要观点或主要人物做出简单的分析与评价。
三、先修课程《高级英语》的先修课程为《基础英语》，是基础阶段的《基础英语》课程在高层次上的一个延续，其目的是培养和提高学生的阅读技能，进一步加强英语语言基本功的训练和英语综合技能的培养，最终使学生具有熟练的英语交际能力。
四、课程教学重、难点课程选择不同题材、体裁的英语文本组织学生进行课堂学习和讨论，使学生在学习英语语言的同时，接触西方社会的各个层面，从而锻炼学生的思维、分析能力。

通过一学年（约144学时）的高级英语课程教学，学生应达到高等学校外语专业教学指导委员会修订的《高等学校英语专业英语教学大纲》所规定的要求：认知词汇达10，000以上，能正确而熟练地使用其中5，000多个及其最常用的搭配；能熟练掌握句子之间和段落之间的各种衔接手段，连贯地表达思想；能读懂一般英美报刊杂志上的文章、英语国家出版的有一定难度的历史传记和文学作品；能分析文章的思想观点、语篇结构、语言特点和修辞手法等。
通过阅读和分析内容广泛的材料，包括涉及政治﹑经济﹑社会﹑语言﹑文学﹑教育﹑哲学等方面的名家作品，扩大学生的知识面，加深对社会和人生的理解，培养对文章的分析和理解能力﹑逻辑思维能力以及独立思考能力，巩固和提高语言综合运用能力。
要求学生掌握课文的中心思想，了解篇章结构﹑段落大意，熟悉各种常见的修辞手段以及课文的重点、难点。
每课都配有大量的相关练习，包括阅读理解、词汇研究、文体分析、中英互译和写作练习等，使学生的英语水平在质量上有较大的提高。
英语专业高年级阶段的主要教学任务是让学生继续打好语言基本功，学习英语专业知识和相关专业知识，进一步扩大知识面，增强对文化差异的敏感性，提高综合运用英语进行交际的能力。
与其它高年级英语课程相比，高级英语课程课时最多，涵盖面最广；因此，该课程是保证实现教学目标的重要环节。
